    The Hag!

    By Eevika

The Troggoth Hag is definitely a piece I believe every Troggoth army needs. It's amazing as a model and amazing on the table. I rarely do such detailed eyes and faces but when working on a model that is the centrepiece of your army you want to spend some extra time just to make it special. This is surely the best work I have ever done on a models face and I think there is just a lot of character and emotion on the model.  My smaller Troggoths are just green and blue but for t

Chapter 6 - The Woes of Montalban

Chapter 6 – The Woes of Montalban   No longer able to contain themselves, the Knights Excelsior jumped screaming from their stand and began to hail blows upon the festival goers.  They smashed their hammers on everyone within their reach and pushed against the crowd with their shields.  Laughter turned into screams of horror and anguish as they hammered upon the spectators all around them.  Those bloodstained from the March of the Blood Reavers earlier on, were now splattered with

Utter Units - A Clan Pestilens Review

A unit review seems like a good place to start. This has already been covered here by Arch Squeaker @AIdenNicol444, a superior player with a superior blog. But many months have passed since and, in that time, we have seen points increases, meta changes, Skull Cannons selling out, people trying to sell their 9 Skull Cannons, not to mention the release of Age of Sigmar 3.0: Daddy's got a Brand New Activation. So I think it is worth briefly revisiting Clan Pestilens units in this brave new world.

Forbidden Power: Battle 5 - Bonesplitterz v FEC

Roused by the news of Gordrakk’s breaching of Thunderstone Reach and his recovery of the skull of Hammergord, the savage Orruks of Styggx ventured forth from the caverns of Grotskull Mines and joined the Big Waaagh. Led by a Wurrgog Prophet the small Bonespliiterz force stumbled upon a court of Flesh Eaters. With a vanguard of boarboyz leading the charge, the orruks advanced in to undead territory.   It ended badly for the boarboyz, out of position and cut off from the majority of the

Chapter 5 - King for a Day

Chapter 5 – King for a Day   On the morning of the carnival procession, thousands of festival revellers started making their way to the main market square to see the The Burial of the Sardine. The city guild of carpenters had built two large spectator stands on either side of the square. One was for the Stadthouder and the consigniliari of the town, the other for the Lord Veritant and the Knights Excelsior. Manstien had send a herald to the barracks days ago with an official invitation

Chapter 4 - You have been warned.

Chapter 4 – You have been warned   In the week that followed the Knights Excelsior’s arrival, preparations started in earnest for the Laus Stultitiae, the big annual festival. Festival goers began to arrive in the city all looking forward to the celebrations and with plenty of money to spend.  Street markets sprung up everywhere, taverns were full of revelers and across the whole city, houses and squares were decorated with garlands and banners. The festival was a celebration of the hi

Part One: More, more, more ... Power? - Ranged Weapons

I've decided to cut out the math bits, put them into a separate entry and just give the results in order not to dilute the text too much. None of the spoilers are essential, these are just some thoughts for specific units that I tried to keep as general as possible. Summary: Stormfiends and Acolytes are bad investments without buffs, in particular MMMWP + Spark. Jezzails are decent without buffs. Doomwheels are a utility piece. Warpfire Throwers and Cannons have their niche.  Give Ratl

Chapter 3 - They are here

Chapter 3 – They are here     Two days later, on a bright but chilly spring morning, Stadthouder Adriaanus Manstien, Sheriff Albertus and the consigniliari of Montalban stood waiting in the middle of the road, just inside the main town gate . The huge, forged iron gate was thrown wide open, its portcullis raised. The town's guard lined up in front of them outside the gate, on either side of the road leading into the town. Halberdiers on the left, Handgunners on the right. The comp

Chapter 2 - Where shall we put them?

Chapter 2 – Where shall we put them?     Sheriff Albertus walked back to the city's guard barracks well after dark. It had been a tumultuous council meeting. Half the consigniliari were arguing with the Stadthouder about sleeping quarters and provisions for the Knights Excelsior. The other half couldn't leave fast enough so they could hide whatever they needed to hide.   In the meeting, at first, Sheriff Albertus thought the situation was hilarious. He changed his mind w

Duardin and Darklings

Due to being laid off at work I am having to get rid of a lot of my collection.  I’m not happy about it but you gotta do what you gotta do.  I was thinking about the history of my little project and came up with this.  Hope you enjoy. Deep under the surface of Arranoc a mutual bargain was struck between Darkling exiles and Duardin prospectors.  The Thrall hosts would dwell close the the surface and aid the Duardin in protection against their mutual foes as well as ample trade.  The Darkling

Chapter 1 - The Messive

Chapter 1 – The Messive   Stadthouder Adriaanus Manstien was staring out of the window. He had been pacing up and down the cabinet room in deep thought. Not saying a word. Sheriff Albertus, the only other person in the room was standing in front of the desk, wisely keeping his silence. Now Manstien was looking out of the large cabinet room window towards the main town square and the gate towers. But he was not really looking at anything out there. Sheriff Albertus knew what he was real

Project Cut.

This project is being cut early, it was an experiment for first-person writing. At the same time, I've been watching old movies, reading old books and trying to craft a story I am happy with. Each chapter of this story, my EC story(if you read it on dakka or BACS) and my own personal writing I feel that I am missing something important. But after doing a bit of research, examining how directors and writers craft their own stories I will be attempting a new writing project. I am deeply sorry to t

First unit of Thralls

So, after a several years of RL intruding on the hobby (as well as fustration at the destruction of WHFB), here is my progress on my first unit of Idoneth Deepkin.   I went for the Fuethan Enclave, partly for the rules, but mostly because I wanted a faction that will fight anybody if they rile us up.  Here's the first couple stages of the WIP.

The Freeguild of Kislavia

A blog entry which collects all the background and photos of my Freeguild Army. It will collect the posts from my painting log thread into a nice blog post! Towards the east of Ghur lies a region of deserts. They are greatly affected by the unstable magic of other realms, an effect I termed Realm-Bleed during my travels. The northerly desert is an icy, stone-strewn tundra where little thrives. The magic of Shyish bleeds into the northernmost edge of this tundra, ensuring that which does sur

Brown teeth

I got some work done on my squig riders last night.  It’s been some time since I have painted so it was good to get back on track.  I started with some 40k Eldar that got me motivated to finished my collection.  These guys are not done yet but with some more time I think they will turn out good.

Skaventide vs Seraphon - Shifting Objectives

My list: Their List T1 I'm given first turn, and what a turn it was; only Vermintide goes off, everything just 1 short or is unbound thanks to the board-wide unbinds. I can't really do anything but zone out and move all the Clanrats onto the objectives, claiming all of them. He gets cogs out as well as the Purple Sun into the left Clanrats (my unit of 20) but only kills a couple and he teleports his Slann to the top right side of the table. Half his army was in the heavens, bu

The Great Aurumburg Expeditionary Force: An Introduction

With the Cities of Sigmar only days away from pre-order, I figured I'd make blog of my army and the free city from which they hail. The lore is as follows: Aurumburg is a coastal city located in the realm of metal, Chamon. It was build to capitalise on a large realmgate that extends out of the sea and leads to Azyr, dubbed the 'Seaspire' by the city's  Azyrite founders. Naturally, the Seaspire has made Aurumburg a centre of trade and commerce. Each member of the ruling council of Merchant L

The Family is Growing. Blightkings finished

So I finished my first unit of Blightkings yesterday after a long break from painting stuff. Im very happy with how they came out and have two more units unpainted. Next I might work on a Verminlord Corruptor or a block of Plague Monks have to see what I'm feeling like.  So here is the full unit of Kings These two are my favourite ones I did. I really love the helmets on these guys. And here is everything I have ready right now. 5 Monks, 5 Blightkings, Lord of Plagu

My completed 1000 points of Kharadrons! (I actually painted something!)

Recently I took my Kharadrons to a doubles tournament in run by the @Hampshire Hammerers in Winchester with @Azamar and as such I had to get my 1000 points painted beforehand! It's my first force I've actually got painted and I'm really happy with it It's been super nice to play with fully painted models too!! We ended up coming third out of four teams which meant we lost out on the coveted engraved wooden spoons (Boo) but I managed to win favourite/best painted army! Which I'm quite pleased wi
