    The Hag!

    By Eevika

The Troggoth Hag is definitely a piece I believe every Troggoth army needs. It's amazing as a model and amazing on the table. I rarely do such detailed eyes and faces but when working on a model that is the centrepiece of your army you want to spend some extra time just to make it special. This is surely the best work I have ever done on a models face and I think there is just a lot of character and emotion on the model.  My smaller Troggoths are just green and blue but for t

OBR vs Sylvaneth - Places of Arcane Power

My List Their List T1 I outdrop him, but decide to let him go first, banking on a double in order to get enough distance and remove his heroes from whatever objectives he places them on before he gets too far ahead on points since only Nagash can cap them. He has a largely uneventful turn, kills 2 Mortek with a Spellportaled spell and gets some buffs up, otherwise he only moves Drycha onto the top right objective while the Treelord teleports to the bottom left woods he set out.

Stonehorns and Tentacles

So, I finally managed to put a basecoat on my Stonehorns so I used the opportunity for a quick snapshot so I can share my next two ginished models/units. Forgive me please the poor image quality. I am actually not sure why the quality on my phone dropped so hard, I guess I have to check the settings~ When the models are painted I will post an update with a better image quality! First of all, my Husskard on Stonehorn. There are still some minor details I have to correct like to add the

Christmas Day Massacre - Round Two

If you haven't read round one, The Christmas Day Massacre, over here, give it a gander. It has videos! Unfortunately round two will not. Sorry! For the rematch we used the exact same lists as we did on Christmas day, no alterations or substitutions were allowed. The only changes were the battle plan, the terrain placement, and however we decided to deploy and play.  Battleplan: The Relocation Orb Terrain: Open War Terrain 35-36, no terrain with warscrolls Deployme

NicoLab: The Activation Wars - The Arms Race enters a new phase

The Activation Wars have rumbled on for a further 8 months since my first article on the topic (NicoLab: The Activation Wars - Sequencing in Age of Sigmar). Of the 6! new Battletomes since the article, some have brought new tools for the Activation Wars. The Arms Race continues with the emergence of clear winners and losers. The first article was being edited as the Fyreslayers and Slaanesh books were dropping. In that first article, I noted that the special rule in the final paragraph

Skaven vs. Sylvaneth - Total Conquest

My List Their List (he was slightly under due to their points changes and not having the models built, said he would've included more 10 Tree Revs) T1 He outdrops me and chooses to go first. He immediately puts a woods in front of my right side Clanrats but fails all of his spells except the +2 to casts throne of vines on his left side Wych. Durthu and the 3 Hunter units all come down from the woods (1 on left side with Wych, the other 2 with Durthu on right), but only 1 unit of

Plague Monks: the quarantine has been lifted, but we are still going to die

You, dear reader, might have heard that Monks have been reworked and that you, dear reader, should be furious. How furious? Let's take a look. AoS_Skaven_Warscroll_card_Plague_Monks.pdf Edit: fixed the stave damage. A sad day, as it appears I can't read. How much damage does it do? Comparison Staff (30 models) vs. Blades (20 models) Save    Staff charge    Blades charge     Staff no charge     Blades no charge 2          8.33                 6.96

Skaven lists before questions infrequently asked are kind of answered

With quite possibly some major points changes looming around the corner, I wanted to paint a picture of what Skaven units are used in tournaments currently (i.e. since the last major change in the summer). Therefore, I checked events on tabletop.to with more than 15 participants and noted which units were used. I did find 74 different lists, however I wasn't interested in who did well or what the top lists were. Rather my interest was what people felt comfortable bringing to a tournament. The fo

Short Story and Update

Hi guys, short update: After concider if I shall either stop at 2 models or go on, I finally decided to keep going with the Ghostclaws. Currently I am about to build the next 2 Models for the army. As converting the Frostlord was a lot of fun that really motivated me to do more for the hobby, the next two models will be also used as plattform for conversions. Aim: 100% more cool. 100% more creepy. Before I can share them I will also post the update on my mournfangs as I am about to fin

Bitz and Bits

Hello,  as some might know I am running a Shapeways Page for bits (mostly but also Miniatures) and I am currently testing new Barbarian Shields which are meant to be universally usable, meaning for Chaos, Cities of Sigmar etc. I would love to hear some Feedback on the Designs on my page (thx in advance!) Firebelly painted

After long pause, after painting lots of Blood Bowl miniatures I bought new Feast of Bones box - ogor half of it. Plus Great Mawpot. I started painting them, converted some into Ironguts, Hunter and added Firebelly to the tribe.  I painted Firebelly first, there is small upcoming painting contest and I wanted to try out object source lighting. It took some time and I cannot say I'm content with it, but it's best I could. As an additional remark -  I haven't painted many finecast models, but

The Emerald Host - Welcome to the Danger Zone

Review - The Emerald Host   Thanks to Mr Anthony Poole on the ole Twitter machine, I have been able to see the new Nighthaunt battalions designed to represent Lady Olynder's dark and powerful Emerald Host, lets get stuck in.   First Expectations When the Emerald Host was announced I was reasonably excited. Earlier Tome Celestial releases have either been a pleasing little addition (Anvils of the Heldenhammer sub-chamber) or an overtly pushed "probably to sell a particula

OBR vs. Sylvaneth - Focal Points

My List Their List (from memory, General and Spells may be incorrect) T1 He outdrops me and chooses to go first, immediately setting up 2 more woods for 3 total. Otherwise, he just runs everything forward (with his battalion letting the Hunters\Durthu auto-run 6 for free) and waits outside ~6" of my Stalkers. I fail almost all of my spells aside from a single Soul-Guide and the Carrion. I UA the left Mortek Guard to make a 5" charge while the left Boneshaper stays on the home

List Breakdown Recap - The Good, the Bad, and the Guardian of Souls

List Breakdown Recap – Legion of Grief at Masters 2019   Overview Gidday all, Aiden’s back with a recap looking at how my list did at Masters and the changes I’d make from my various games and the experience I gained. With the list breakdown post currently being my most read post on this blog, the format is going to quite literally be a copy paste deal where I show what I originally said, then I respond to it based on how it all played. I’ve neatly done my responses in a good

Forbidden Power Campaign battle 7 – Ogor Mawtribes v Stormcast Eternals

The Underguts Mawtribe passed through the Gate of Whispers, entering Stygxx on the behest of the Flesh-eater Courts. Charged with raiding the Stormvault discovered at the Hookfort, Slaughtermaster Bufolg Bloodbelch led his Ogors from the realmgate situated on the Coast of Loss and headed inland to see what treasures awaited them… Vandus Hammerhand himself, along with a retinue of the Hammers of Sigmar had received word of the incoming Gluttonous nomads and were guarding the Stormvault as the

The Post New Zealand Masters 2019 Post

The Post Masters Post   Hey all. I did say there would be one. I had planned to get this out a little sooner but needed some time to detox. Masters 2019 was a reasonably mixed bag, with the Top 20 players for 2019 majority living in the North Island only 11 of them accepted the invite. This is not out of the ordinary, no masters event has ever been attended by more than 65% of the Top 20. However due to the nature of the event and it being in the South Island, only a single North

Assembly Progress

My bases should arrive this coming week. Until then, I build. So far, there has been a defect in the casting of three chest pieces in the Stalker kit. One of the "stalks" breaks at the same point on each bit with even the slightest but of pressure. It stinks, but it's something I've seen in GW plastics for decades, so I'll deal with it. That said, here is what I've been putting together the last few nights.

List Breakdown - LoG at NZ Masters 2019

List Breakdown – Legion of Grief – NZ Masters 2019   Overview Gidday all, Aiden here with the first “List Breakdown” for this blog. I had planned to do this the night before Masters but with me flying down tomorrow lunchtime and then likely drinking from there on out I’m not going to have the time. New Zealand Masters 2019 is the third Masters event our country as hosted, we have had one for every full year of Age of Sigmar gameplay since the game began. I’ve attended all of

A Scheme I Won't Use

I've decided to go with resin bases instead of textured ones. I ordered them ($666 worth! Lol!), but they won't be here for a bit yet, so I'm in a bit of a holding pattern until they arrive. In the interim, I've done another very quick color scheme that mirrors what I did in an early TK army of mine. I won't be using it for my Bonereapers, but I thought I'd share it.
