    The Hag!

    By Eevika

The Troggoth Hag is definitely a piece I believe every Troggoth army needs. It's amazing as a model and amazing on the table. I rarely do such detailed eyes and faces but when working on a model that is the centrepiece of your army you want to spend some extra time just to make it special. This is surely the best work I have ever done on a models face and I think there is just a lot of character and emotion on the model.  My smaller Troggoths are just green and blue but for t

Monthly Meetup - OBR vs. Anvilguard\Mawtribes

My List Game 1: CoS (Anvilguard) - Border War Their List T1 I outdrop him so I decide to go first. I could see he was lining up for some endless spell shenanigans so I wanted to shut that down asap. The Crawler got an extra attack, aimed 3 at 1 Sorceress and 1 shot at another and managed to kill both of them right away. I grab the 2 middle objectives and prepare for his potential double turn.  I largely killed his plans (Vitriolic Spray + Spell Portal + Shooting) after thos

Starting ... Now

Over the years I've painted multiple undead armies, including several Tomb Kings forces. It's kinda my jam.  Then they went away. Tomb Kings were crushed. Generic undead armies were ... well ... made 'meh.' Nighthaunts were cool but not really my giggidee. Flesh Eaters? Nah. Not really undead in my book. Now we have Bonereapers. Utter control. Cold calculation. Enforcing of a dominating will.  Bones.   Hell yes.   This blog will journal my experience with

Be bold! Behold! The Warp-Sun of Skavenblight

This first entry was an exercise in letting ago of fears and going for it. I must attribute my undertaking of this project to Age of Sigmar regulars from the Warhammer Weekly show, who, many cycles ago, made a big point of getting wild and wacky with your hobby. In particular when you've been using the guide rails of Citidal paints and the thought that you only had to paint the models that you were given.  And thus began the era of making my own models or in this case, not kit-bashing at al

Ossiarch Bonereapers Tournament Report - 2K

Took this list to a local 2-day, 5 game competition last weekend and had a lot of fun! I didnt have any other options to run as this was a fully painted and based tournament, and I had about a week to kill myself getting these all ready. Thank goodness Arkhan was painted four years ago.   Round 1 - Three Places of Power - VS Skaventide - Major Loss Squared off against a really good local player who brought Thanquol and three Verminlords, plus five endless spells. I already had a d

Base Coated Soulrender

Finally found some time in a hectic schedule to start my Soulrender.  Here is he base coated.  This usually takes me the longest, since my painting speed leaves much to be desired.  Now to start thinking of a name....

Ogors and Ossiarchs

The two latest releases for the Battletomes are here. I couldn't find a high resolution of the cover art, normally GW or the artist itself uploads it somewhere. Not this time, though I'll keep looking and will update once I'm able to find them, so it can match the Battletome cover 1:1 And as a note: I restructured the Hungy/Not hungry Battle Trait of the Mawtribes. Now it immediately tells you what condition 1 is and what bonus you get for this, then the same for condition 2 (ins

Speak Prrrrriest: A Tournament List

I am competing in a one-day event in Wicklow this Sunday which, after a brief sojourn with the Maggotkin of Nurgle, I will use to dip my toe back into the Pestilent pool. The event will be 3 rounds, 24 players and 2000pts. The Irish AoS meta is interesting, in that there isn't one. The lads and ladies here tend to play offbeat armies, and even those damn Northies who come down to take our women and our podiums mostly bring their whackier, less optimal lists to the party. There's a significant ch

AoS Reminders v2.7.3 - Shareable Army links, Tomb Kings, and Wound Allocation phase

AoS Reminders - v2.7.3Share Army links, Tomb Kings, and Wound Allocation phase You can now share armies with your friends and communities via an aosreminders.com URL! The URL is generated like so: https://aosreminders.com/?army=pZl8CrTD Rules that are applied any time a unit takes a wound now occur in the "Wound Allocation" phase. @JohnSchramm Previously, these types of rules were generally stored in "During Game" I think this very nicely tidies up a

Naval Battles in AoS

Back in May, I ran a small local event featuring homemade rules for playing naval battles in AoS.  I received a lot of encouragement from the Narrative Play forum here, and eventually (after some tweaking from the original event) compiled my original rules with some additional naval homebrew content and photos from the event to make this book!  In addition to the basic rules for playing naval battles, I've added rules for weather, naval command abilities, and specialty munitions.  If you have an

Epilogue

Epilogue     Three days later, the vanguard of the army left the city under the command of Sheriff Albertus, Freeguild General of the Free Army of Montalban.  With him he had the Greatswords, the Handgunners, the Demygryph Knights and some regiments of Halberdiers.  A detachment of pistoliers from the mercenary company of Nimyard rode ahead of them, scouting the road.  Albertus knew Captain Nimyard from the days way back and Nimyard owed Albertus a favour.   Three days a

Lore Post - Mausoleum of the Forgotten

Dead things dreaming in the darkness. Nothing stirred in the utter blackness of the Deepknell Depths. Nothing living remained in the vast catacombs and narrow tunnels to make a sound. The last incidental collapse of rock, or old bones finally falling apart to clatter across the coarse ground, had happened decades ago. No noise sounded in a place where nothing happened, and nothing ever happened down in the dark. So they had accepted a long time ago, that it was better to simply try to stop

Getting Down with the Spirit-Ness

Introduction to The Blog Hey all, Aiden here. Might maybe remember my blog last year on Skaven Pestilens where I churned out article after article on the army before the Skaventide update at the start of this year. Wasn't really my thing so I started focusing on my Slaanesh. Then they got updated and I didn't like playing "OP" and went looking for something that I could enjoy but would reward good gameplay knowledge without making me feel like the army was doing all the work for me.

Fear of Big Models

I've had a fear of painting big models for a long time. The big model is the centerpiece of the army and therefore will be viewed and scrutinized far more than the average skeleton in your horde (who cares if you missed part of the foot, the next one over is "perfect"). I've also held the thought that since it's the centerpiece it should be painted last, just like heroes should be painted after the battle line units and such nonsense.   Another big part of it was the, for me, huge undertaki

Completed unit of Thralls "Flame Reapers"

Here is the first completed unit of Thralls, the Flame Reavers.  I like to name my units and characters, and hopefully come up with background as well.  These are going to be my more elite unit of Thralls, the ones that are approaching almost Ahkelian levels of combat expertise.  That's why this unit has mostly swords.  The next unit will have more of the glaive/axe weapons as they will be the conscript unit.  Next up on the painting table will be the Soulrender!

Chapter 7 - What is Freedom?

Chapter 7 – What is Freedom?   For the first few weeks after the events of the festival, Montalban lived in fear of the Knights Excelsior coming back. They had promised to return and kill every living being in the city. The mood in the city was of that of complete anguish and every day funerals were held for those who had been slain by the Knights Excelsior and for those who perished in the panicked stampede that followed their attack. Stadthouder Adriaanus Manstien was a changed
