    The Hag!

    By Eevika

The Troggoth Hag is definitely a piece I believe every Troggoth army needs. It's amazing as a model and amazing on the table. I rarely do such detailed eyes and faces but when working on a model that is the centrepiece of your army you want to spend some extra time just to make it special. This is surely the best work I have ever done on a models face and I think there is just a lot of character and emotion on the model.  My smaller Troggoths are just green and blue but for t

The Swords of Ulric

"The Swords of Ulric, also known as the Sons of Ulric are a Middenland regiment of Templar's and fanatics dedicated and funded by the Ulrican Church of Middenheim. The formidable training of the Swords of Ulric consists not of marches or military drills, but instead on patrols and war parties led out of the city itself and into the hazardous regions of the Drakwald Forest, where they hunt out the tribes of beastmen that have taken residence in the land. Initiates hoping to join this famed regime

Sterntower Marksmen

"The Sterntower Marksmen are a newly formed regiment out of Steingart. They are garrisoned as part of the line of sentry post and signal towers that guard the low foothills of the eastern Wissenland, under the shadow of the imposing Black Mountains. Always at the ready to launch their signal flares to signify invasions, the watchtowers are essential for border defence. The Marksmen share the Sterntower with several other Imperial regiments - Halberdiers and Spearmen - with whom they have estab

The Beginning

Welcome to the first entry for my Free Peoples blog. I have been working on this army since 2015. It's been a passion project of mine since first seeing the Empire army in the 8th Edition army book. I had always wanted to start an Empire army but never though I had the painting skills to do them justice.  In 2015 my best friend James was painting up his Bretonnian army. We reconnected (we had deployed together in the military and became good friends) after a couple of years and we

Spiteclaws Swarms

And Spiteclaws Swarm. Again with Ruststalker Blades, and Bits from Stromcasts. My first Project with Contrastpaints. All is contrast paints, except the white, the gold and the silver.     Actually a few things about painting with contrast paints are even better than Games Workshop told us …   It's much much easier to remove the colour from the brushes, making it much easier and faster to switch between colours during painting. The consistancy of the colours mak

Something … different …

As I just recently did get a copy of Warhammer Underworlds Shadespire, but really didn't like nor wanted to paint Garreks Reavers … aaand as I like the Idea of Khorne worshipping Skaven, I just hat to convert the whole Band. The heads are all from Stormvermin, and replacing them was mostly pretty easy except for "Blooded Saek", the guy with the Axe over his head.  Most of the swords are from the Sicarian Ruststalkers, as they are within most part of my army.   Reall

Something bigger

Continuing with Age of Sigmar Skirmish, I wanted to try some more hard hitting Units. So I painted the first of my four Ratogres, of course in the same "troll slayer orange", white, gold and red Colour Scheme. His Name is Louiiss, Prince of the Sun. And I am pretty happy how well the Stormcast Shoulderpads fit.     The second addition to the Marls revoluthing Army was a Warp Flamethrower Team …

FeC - Escalation League - 1750 Week

My list: Game 1: Seraphon - Battle of the Pass in GhyranTheir List: T1 I elect him to go first.. really not sure that it would pan out too well if I went since I wouldn't be able to get off any T1 charges. Anyway, he largely does nothing aside from marginal pushing up and but generating Summoning points. He caps his home + bottom objective with 20 Skinks. My turn, I get off the Chalice but that's it. I manage to get the ZD into the Skinks  and take them down to 7 with shooting

The Mighty Plague Furnace

After looking at lists to go well with my Glottkin I decided that adding some Skaven would be a fantastic way to go so I started with a plague furnace. Using a lot of colors I used in my Glottkin I ended up at a pretty nice finish Even though this model is a pretty big pain in the ass to paint because of the multiple subassemblies I did love doing all the weathering on this model. Adding a lot of moss to the wood and stone and rust to the metal it does really look nice and worn.

Core Set reworked

I also took the time to review the cards in the Core Set. It now contains the common Command Abilities (Core & Matched Play), Common Spells, Triumphs (Core & Matched Play), Scenery (Core & Matched Play), extra Command Point, and a table for rolling a Realm of Battle . I removed a lot of cards of Open and Narrative Play (they will return in other sets eventually). I think this will make it a lot more attractive for the player base.

Monthly Tourney (last w/ GHB 2018 rules\points) - Skaven are back...

We played with all realm spells, time limit of 2 1/2 hours. Both players didn't have a list so... mostly I just have their units but not sure on spells\prayers\artifacts. My list for this Tournament: Game 1: DoK - Border War in Ulgu: Their List: T1 He opts for me to go first and I start off right away sneaking the Corrupter behind the Cauldron with Dreaded Skitterleap but fail a Plague and Pendulum from the Corrupter. Next up, Grey Seer casts the Spell-portal and gets Wither of

Contrast Between Then and Now!

So it's been a while and I definitely fell off the painting train but the release of Contrast has stirred me to action once more! I called out sick yesterday and after puttering around for half the day I finally settled in and got to painting these Beastie Boyz. And once I started, I couldn't stop. Contrast paints are beautiful and fast, and I banged out a considerable amount of my back log, including some vintage models I had been looking forward to painting up for a while now. The models shown

The Gitz have arrived.

Fully into my Gloomspite Gitz army now after picking up Looncurse and repainting and rebasing some stuff from my 8th Edition Goblins. First up is my Araknorak with Flinger - the spider was painted 5 years ago but I hadn't gotten around to finishing the rest of him.       I'm pretty pleased with how the new basing turned out.   Three of the Troggoths are new, the other three have been stripped and rebased.   And final

Retreating

2.0  version of Retreating in Age of Sigmar Retreating is an underrated topic in Age of Sigmar. This is especially the case because it works differently than WHFB or 9th Age. While a retreat at WHFB is a forced action after a failed morale test, in AoS it is a voluntary movement action in the movement phase for units in close combat. Even if it costs you a few attacks, getting rid of an awkward situation and surprising your opponent is a great way to get away.   The rule

How to calculate a probability

Fundamentally to calculate a probability you need to work out how many possible outcomes there are, how many outcomes represent a desired result, and then doing a fraction based on this. Quick note on jargon: Numerator means the top number on a fraction - therefore with 2/6 the numerator is 2. Denominator is the bottom number on a fraction - therefore with 2/6 the denominator is 6. For a simple example of calculating probabilities: You roll a 6 sided dice, and you want to roll a 4, 5,

FeC - Escalation League - 1500 Week

My list 1: My list 2: Game 1 (List 1): Seraphon - Three Places of Power in UlguTheir List: T1 He gets priority and makes me go first. I move the TG onto the mid objective but everything else is just short of capping anything else. Varghulf and 3 Horrors come in on the left side to support. He deployed pretty far back, so his turn he largely just moves everything up while failing to get off cogs + BW. 5 Knights charge the right side Ghouls but.. nothing goes through than

Fieldcontrol

2.0  version of Zoning & Area Denial   Age of Sigmar is a skirmish tabletop game. This means that movement and positioning is the most important aspect of the game. Preventing enemy movement is a great way to gain an advantage over your opponent. The 3 "rule In Age of Sigmar, no unit can do "normal movement" (designation for a movement that usually takes place in the movement phase) through the 3" range of enemy models. Flying models ignore this as long as they finish this

The knights of Blacklake begin to ride!

Today I finally began my project for my shyish themed bretonnians (who will be taking some mousillon inspiration) and began it in style with some grail knights! These are mostly the more modern plastic brets (will have fancy nice shield paintings) and a baron to lead the squad! (We'll ignore the fact there's no squad sgt rules ) whilst making him I accidentally broke his sword when getting it off the sprue! So decided ****** it he's getting a cool broken sword and I'll give it a story. He'

A very basic introduction

The intent of this blog is to do some really basic discussion on probability, and how that can inform thinking about your games, and a bit of thinking about how we can model outcomes. First then, what this blog is. I will aim to keep this relatively straightforwards in terms of what I am describing, and I will aim to not use excessive amounts of jargon or technical terms. Although I intend to focus on Age of Sigmar most of the logic is applicable to any dice rolling game and I would like to

FeC - Escalation League - 1250 Week

My list: Game 1: Daughters of Khaine - Duality of Death in Shyish Their List: T1 I win drops and elect him to go first, risking him changing Morathi T1 so I can try for a double. He drops the Heartrenders and their shooting + an Arcane Bolt manage to kill off 5 Ghouls from my big unit as he pushes forward. I continue my trend of rolling horrifically on my casting rolls but manage to get off FH for +1 attack on the GKoTG and Spectral Host so I can attempt to make a backline-f
