  1. The cover makes it look like Korghos Khul has had a Rita Repulsa magic power up.
  2. Nice work, I had to look closely before I noticed they were on individual bases on a larger tray, it blends very nicely. It's a nice pale blue colour that you've used and the extra little details like the bats look great. The Troll Hag's tree staff is maybe a little bit over the top though, most of the spindly bits would break off as she carries it.
  3. Really nice, especially the basing.
  4. Thanks guys, the idea came while listening to an episode of Facehammer, I think Russ said something along the lines of yellow being an aggressive colour which I very much agree with and he's done a cool stylized Bloodbound army with lots of blood which got me thinking of doing the yellow with lots of blood for the blood god. The straps were going to be brown but I was really trying to limit the colour palate used on the model to cool colours other than the yellow, so I went with the blue/green, I might actually tint these more towards the green. I'll try and take some better pictures when he's finished, the yellow is a little bit more orangey brown looking (like JCB yellow) than it looks in the photo. I think my camera picks up a bit too much green or something.
  5. Thanks Ben, it's Vallejo Extra Opaque Heavy Goldbrown, with some GW Tau Light Ochre to shade and GW Ushabti Bone to highlight.
  6. So I've always had a bit of a soft spot for Khornate Chaos Warriors as they always had some really badass looking models but I'd always managed to resist buying into them, until now. With the arrival of Silver Tower came the perfect excuse to pickup one of the meanest looking dudes of recent times... Slaughterpriest with Hackblade and Wrath-hammer I've always shied away from blood effects but as I've decided not to use a traditional red colour scheme on this model it seemed like the perfect opportunity to have a go at some. This model is still work in progress and I'd love to hear any feedback or suggestions regarding the paintjob/colour choices. I still need to highlight the skin and I intend to add a load more BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD splattered around but just wanted to get everything else right before I do so. I'm a little worried there might be a bit too much of the greenyblue on the model or maybe it's too bright a blue, (I could make it darker). I'm considering some freehand on the cloth (maybe just a line or some Skaveny triangle pattern) but I'm not sure. I wanted the brass to be kinda a realistic looking pale and greeny looking. I could add some Nihilakh Oxide or just a bit more black to it, but again I'm not sure. I am pretty excited about Bloodbound at the moment, I do have the other Slaughterpriest from the WHQ Mighty Heros expansion and I also have the AoS starter set models so I'd may do a small army in the same colourscheme. Thanks for looking.
  7. Next up; I've finished the Spiderfang Grotlings and the Blue Horrors... I purchased a Tzeentch Screamer Chariot kit to upgrade my Silver Tower set, you get 3 Blue Horrors, a Herald, an Exalted Flamer and 2 Screamers, so it's a good value way to bolster the dark minions of Tzeentch. I did a little hand swap on the Silver Tower Horrors as well so they aren't exactly the same, one has a clenched fist the other an open hand. Actually now I look at them I realize I haven't finished painting the teeth on the one on the right. In fact the ones from the chariot kit I painted after the Silver Tower ones need another highlight on the skin to get them to match. I wanted to give them a very bright magical look. The main colour I used was Baharroth Blue (Edge) washed with Coelia Greenshade. blended to Fulgrim Pink (Edge) on the tentacle tips. The Spiderfang Grots were slightly more difficult to paint, I wasn't as impressed with the detail on the Grots, it's a bit soft sculpted is the only way I can describe it, (might just be the way they had to go on the sprues), the teeth for example really need to be painted properly as triangles and I haven't done this properly on all of them yet. The eyes are also a bit tricky, I did paint pupils on one of them but it sort of looks weird as theres 4 eyes and not to mention its a pain getting the brush in there.
  8. Thanks, I went with 25mm for the rank and file and put all the characters on the size up (32mm). For the Cav I'm using the 60x35mm and then with the mounted characters the slightly larger 75x46mm ones. The Warmachines are on 90x52mm bases.
  9. Warhammer Quest Silver Tower is super cool. I've set about trying to paint up the beautiful models, starting with the Brimstone Horrors. I haven't exactly decided how to do the bases yet so I'm going to leave them black until I've painted all the models then decide and do them all as one big batch. I've nearly finished the Blue Horrors and I'm also working on a Slaugherpriest.
  10. Nice stuff, I love the use of the classic WHQ archway, it fits perfectly.
  11. Good work, I ordered the chariot too as it is a great value way to add some exotic enemy types to WHQ.
  12. I love the classic blue scheme, the snow bases work really well with it and is a little unusual on Lizards, good work!
  13. Here's a group shot of Freepeoples Em-pire so far... There's 5 more Knights and 10 Swordsmen still to assemble, the knights are on the Hurricanium horses and I intend to give them greenstuff fur cloaks using a Micro Art Studio light fur mould, (I can sculpt small areas of fur but find it takes ages so the mould should really help). They are sort of Knights Panther but in the new age, so maybe I'll call them something a little different (I'm open to suggestions) I'm thinking maybe Panthero Knights. I definitely think this army is going to need the Griffon as a centre piece. The Swordsmen were an experimental colour scheme that I need to repaint, (primarily switching the yellow for green). The Hand Gunners are base coated now... The Gunners should start to come to life a bit more when I start tidying them up, shading, highlighting etc. However they've all gone back in the box and on the back burner for a while (could be quite a long time) as I'm getting ready to get stuck into the Silver Tower. Another project that's on the back burner is the Orruks, this is how far I got with them...
  14. Lovely paintjob I really like the burnished gold on his shield in particular.
  15. It's really cool to see the full starter set ready to get painted. You've done a great job of undercoating that cardboard, I think you've missed a few patches on the models though!
  16. Good work, it's nice to see the full starter set getting all painted up.
  17. This is a cool army, the fact you did it in 3 days is impressive. The tufts will definitely improve the look, the other thing that stands out as a bit rough is the teeth/horn/bone colour on the Araknaroks, it could do with a bit of sepia shading or something.
  18. This turned out great, good work!
  19. Hello world. I decided to start a shiny new blog here to report on my round based journey into the Mortal Realms. Going forward with this new game and new army/s it made sense to start a fresh blog. I've previously played High Elves and now maintain a massive Orcs & Goblins army (Orruks & Grots for you young whippersnappers). You can see my greenskins on Da Warpath. Below is a hidden montage of my best miniatures to date. I find gaming casually using my greenskins on square bases works just fine using a "virtual round base" mentality, but specifically for AoS I've started working on a Freepeoples Em-pire army. (Its technically my partner Emily's army that I'm making for her/us to play with, hence the hyphen). Also with my greenskin roots I've naturally bought all the latest Ironjawz models and will likely pickup any future greenskin releases, so they might appear here along with terrain and anything else I decide to mutter about. The Freepeoples Em-pire so far: 3 Generals (1 mounted and 1 with a banner) 4 Wizards 1 Witch Hunter (to keep the Wizards in check) 1 Master Engineer 20 Swordsmen 20 Hand Gunners 6 Knights Panther 10 Archers 1 Cannon 1 Helstorm Rocket Battery 1 Helblaster Volley gun Not very powerful I know, but it's about 80% a painting/modeling project and only contains models I really like. I don't intend to expand it much beyond this, (maybe just a Griffon and some Demigryphs), just to keep the project manageable. I've assembled most of these and after much deliberation and painting of test models (about 20 in total) I've settled on a teal, navy blue and yellowy green colour scheme. Here are the two test models that I felt happy with: I wanted to try and steer away from any particular province from the world that was and I intend to remove as many of the Karl Franz references from the army as possible, (at this time he's kinda myth/legend) where as Sigmar is obviously fine as he is the here and now. These are just test models but critical feedback on these or any of my stuff is most welcome as I'm always trying to improve.

    Skeleton Warriors Tests

These are great, the red is nice and vivid. Good work!

    After the Rain

Nice start, the colour theory is good with the purple and green, although a purple base traditionally looks a bit odd it kind of works for AoS. Have you got a realm in mind where these bases represent, maybe metal, death or shadow? An idea for you: you could use small patches of crushed purple amethyst crystal on the bases instead/as well as, static grass tufts. This way you could paint the bases a more natural colour eg. brown or grey but still have purple on the base to contrast the green. This could represent the mineral rich terrain of the realm of metal maybe. If it was realm of metal some kind of wire bristles would make cool "grass" maybe from electrical wire.
  22. This is cool, I really like the natural layout of the path and the addition of all the gravestones. It could maybe do with a bit more wall/fence around the outside.
  23. I built this bridge to fit with my GF9 "Battlefield in a Box" river sections. I used plasticard, foam, a brick stencil for the wall texture, some bits from the old Fortified Manor kit and lots of press moulded spikey top bits.
