I love the incarnate! A different take on the one FW released.

Love the art but (ofc purely personal taste) I am not a fan of the "thing on a swirl" mini. Might be different when I see it in real life, but from the picture it gives "very low effort" vibes for something that should be so central in the narrative and that might pop up in every army

Totally agree. The art is gorgeous, but the model is so disappointing, a missed opportunity... it's instinctive to think to endless spell, IMO.
However, I like the concept, I bet people will grab this opportunity to convert/kitbash some beautiful elemental beasts.

Agreed. They could have done something better for such a cool concept. For reference, this was FW's one:

In gunna assume a large skull piece of Scenery. Oooor new beast!!

It kind of looks like that skull tower that the magewrath throne used to come on, except with a different spiky top instead of the throne and maybe some extra putty work to make it more rocky. Original for an example:

In a bit of a reverse, I’ve now seen the announcements and preview show. Overall I liked it. Lots of cool stuff coming out over the next four months or so and I’m very excited about Heresy (my wife tells me off about talking about it now and I’m not allowed to show the trailer!).

I think some good things were shown for AOS however I can see why some people are a bit grumpy. But if you look at 40K in the show, they got two codexes, a chaos knight and a teaser about Chaos Marines.

I like how AOS is still in the era of the beast and Ghur as I did have concerns that things would shift this year which isn’t great as a lot of people didn’t get chance to play a lot last year. Also it fits in the timeline I have in my head where we will get DOK and Nighthaunts by end of May and the Chaos and Order teasers will be in September. I really think there’s production issues for GW and more so with AOS. I think we just got used to a high pace of releases and expect to see that now but if I’m honest, I like the pace we have now as it gives chance to enjoy and focus on what we are collecting, painting and playing with.

Well plus the new edition of Horus Heresy maybe bigger and more extensive then people are aware of, so I can definitely see that game system taking most of the tail end of summer and some of Fall with it. especially if they are trying to replace most of the generic legion Forgeworld model (there a lot of them). It possible it going to become a full fledge game system that GW proper is going to fully support now.

whats the thing in the background? building ruin or beast?

Imma be realistic and just assume it's once again one of the scenery pieces built just for official GW promotional materials and stuff

Also, my opinion on the incarnate is that it's cool. I think that comparing it to the forgeowrld one is a bit wrong: they come from two different settings. The beastly antler-y one is from The Old World where I feel like magic was always rather tangible and material in a way. The new swirly dragon is for AoS where magic is a lot wilder, purer in its form. The realms are made of magic itself and it has more of an identity in realmstone and similar things, so to me it makes sense that an AoS incarnate would be more purely magical.

It also makes me really excited to see incarnates for other realms. My bet is we'll see shyish/death or ghyran/life next, of which I would prefer the first one

HH becoming a full system would be great for those fans but I do hope it becomes the 'Blood Bowl' of 40K and recieve updates now and again. I know different teams work on different projects and it wouldnt detract from AOS but damn theres a lot of Marines already.

Everything is Marines. We have mini, future, and past Marines. Stormcast? Generic Marines. Even Ogors...just fat Marines with a melee doctrine supported by tanks(Stonehorns). Dawnbreaker Crusades? Merely serfs that serve Marines. Soulblight? What do you think Bloodknights are? Thats right, Marine biker units.

Embrace the Marine. Become the Marine.

I think Horus was a Xenos Player that wanted to end the constant release of new Marine models. But in his hubris he failed and only invented spikey marines.

I think that the new Krondspine Incarnate is so awesome but will live forever as a random proxy for my games. Even if the rules are cool it is so perfectly generic as to fit into the majority of armies. I with GW would do that more often and make godbeasts and mercenaries available to all...

Well Adepticon panel state they have a lot of big plans for it and giving it a full cinematic trailer seem like it going bigger then just a side game. Keep in mind that Horus Heresy has it own dedicated team unlike Blood bowl which is run by specialist division which run multiple system at once.

if it a big edition launch like Indomitus and Dominion, it probably going to get a lot of focus in the Summer and Fall quarter

Just what we needed: a new major release of a system about Space Marines betraying Space Marines. But this time they look more generic because half of them didn't have the time to simmer in the warp for millenia and develop a distinct flavor. Good thing that we are already intimately familiar with the lore because 40K and Black Library never shut up about HH in the first place.

When GW realised people absolutely eat up centrepiece models and, especially, how successful the primarch releases were it was kind of inevitable. A whole setting where the marines were the coolest and us gamers love the space opera theme (AoS is fantasy opera, I suppose!). Perfect fit.

At this point we simply have to accept AoS isn't that big of a game compared to 40k and that GW operate on an attention economy. Not saying AoS is dying or anything. Sucks to be the less popular system/faction but at least we're likely to see an interesting NH release and we still have Thondia + the other two upcoming books. Wait, what is going on, I'm talking like an optimist again? 😲

The idea of the Incarnate Elemental being usable in all armies is great, but i am not very keen on the model, the old Forgeworld one did look much more impressive. The new Incarnate would 100% look like a Death unit if the swirling energy on it was painted in Nighthaunt colors.

If the scale is close, i am going to paint and use Forgeworld's out of production Giant Spined Chaos Beast as the incarnate for my chaos armies, since i own the miniature and it never received a proper warscroll for AoS so it lingered in limbo in the great gray pile of shame for years.
