It's available in Japan too, but Japanese orders ship from the UK warehouse for some reason. 

My guess is the UK warehouse has a surplus of those start collecting sets but nowhere else does.

as much as i'd like this - is it likely to preview anything new before the nurgle tome even comes out?  i feel they're not likely to reveal something new (like for a faction where a book hasnt' even been announced) or something like that... but idk.

If anything, I think it leads credibility to AoS getting starter sets like the 40k combat patrol ones. 

With nurgle being the next battletome out, this would be a good way to clear the remaining start collecting boxes.

well every system has something pending that going to be release in the next 2 months not just AoS but i have a feeling it is the rumor Tau Darkstrider guy just because they actually said that the TAU codex is coming out soon next year. while the next AoS release (maybe a major model release) is totally unknown.

A small question as I am not up to date in AoS rumours recently: Do we know if christmas Battleforce Boxes will come this year? Has GW mentioned anything? Because considering current issues with logistics I wouldn't be suprised to hear them beeing canceled

The rumour is exactly what u said. But i havent read anything to support that statement. I think they are going to do more deals like the nurgle one so they can get rid of their start collecting boxes.

They will be in the vault on warhammer+ in a few month I'll imagine. 

They used to do a annual book compiling all the rule articles from the previous years WD and we might see that again as they've started rules in WD again.

Are these updates generally changes to existing rules, e.g. apply generally to all of the faction's armies and compulsory to use to be up to date, or are they more optional extras e.g. traits, abilities, spells etc you can use if you want but doesn't matter too much if you're ignorant of?

The White Dwarf updates always come with army-specific grand strategies, battle tactics and core battalions. Sometimes they come with other extra stuff, as well. Seraphon got monstrous rampages, for example. Sometimes they also come with rules rewrites. Slaves to Darkness got their Eye of the Gods rule rewritten.

You can generally wait a few days after the newest White Dwarf comes out and find videos of AoS youtubers like Honest Wargamer, AoS Coach or Radio Free Hammerhal discussing these rules updates in detail. You can decide from there whether or not you think you need to buy in.

It wasn't a rewrite of the Eye of the Gods rules itself, but how those interacted with the new Path to Glory.

Nah it is much more likely you well get some kind of allegiance update you never asked for and a nerf to battle mages so they do not get +1 cast from the realm they are in.

You might then get cool battle tactics like "Heads of the beasts" where 2 Hydras need to kill a unit each in the same combat phase, or "cloak and dagger" where 1 assassin needs to kill 1 unit and another assassin needs to capture an objective on the same turn! 

Grand strategy might be "Glorious death" where you need to ally Gotrek and he dies to a monster.

Look forward to this and more, including hobby tips to give your freeguild women sidecuts and some kind of rating between cutest Darkling Covens warbeasts.

One thing that is different is that the Cities update doesn't state that it is a Tome Celestial on the cover like previous updates.

I've noticed New Model Money now seems to largely be the purview of Specialist/boxed games. I wouldn't get too excited about seeing 40k/AoS stuff too often.

Yes and not,seraphons got all these useless things,but they got free mount traits(that arent great truth be told). But behemats  got good stuff and uograded rules and tactics,so we can hope we get usefull things as behemats or i hope mount traits for every city and not only for dragons in one city

The boxed / specialist games product pipe seems to be a bit quicker than 40K and AOS. I assume this is as much around product development in terms of points, rules and balance in the big multi-tied games as it is actual model design and tooling.
