Naflem
So the heralds for order and chaos are parts of two new armies/battletombs from AOS (lord ordinator in the new Stormcast and Knight of Shrouds for Nighthaunt); wonder if they borrowed models from upcoming armies for that rather than them being purpose-designed... and if so, does that mean moonclan/fungoid grots and norse barbarians in the near future...

Does seem that way. I'm surprised at GW pushing ahead with Darkoath in their bid to desperately copyright everything. Fantasy Barbarians, whilst a bit more niche than Medieval Knights and Standard Fantasy Dwarf, aren't exactly uncommon. I'm sure they'll put a spin on it (Skin Wolves?), but it's unexpected. That being said, I'm more excited for them than I would be Chaos Fantasy Marines. Moonclan should be great and would line up with the squig-looking mouth from the rumour. Enoby
Assuming that Darkoath will get a release (I think it's a pretty safe bet looking at the Stormcast and Nighthaunt), I wonder if that will take up the yearly Chaos release they do (instead of Slaanesh) or if it'll be its own thing. HARBINGER, noun 1. a person who goes ahead and makes known the approach of another; a person sent in advance of troops 2. anything that foreshadows a future event I think it's safe to say we will be seeing Moonclan and Darkoath releases in the near future.
Carnelian
Do we actually know that a new starter box is coming? Ive seen gw refer to a new rulebook which could be standalone. Both of the new army releases seem to huge to be part of a new box set - maybe the new rule book is being released alongside 2 new armiez rather than any new box? Kaleb Daark
Now here's a thing... When reading about about the new Warhammer Heroes collectible card game on the community site they mention this: The game will be a digital and physical hybrid – all your real world cards can be scanned for use in the online version i really hope they carry this through and make it work for battletomes and other literature in the future. Imagine buying the hard copy and then scanning the barcode and releasing the digital copy. That copy would then be tied to your apple id or android equivalent to stop people buying an old copy off the bay from taking advantage - a thank you for buying a new copy if you will. I have to say paying twice for stuff I like just so I can unlock scrolls and battleplans etc in azyr app gets a bit stale after a while, to the point where I'll buy physical and digital GHB and that's it now. 2
obaobaboss
Maybe the miniatures shown in the blog are the ones out of the starterbox? There are some double poses in these pictures (easy to build?). Sat 1.50pm - Live Blog 7: From the Crypts... I hope they do it, and yes that would make perfect sense for the giants, skin wolves mammoths, warshrines and all of that other never quite was part of a chaos gods chosen portfolio of stuff. I see them almost like they were in the old world, not worshipers of chaos as such in the same sense as bloodbound or warriors of chaos but people who live under its skies - the same as the humans who fought along side the undead in the Shyish against the nurgle incursions. I'm biased of course as it's pretty much the army I run with my slaves to darkness, marauders, mammoths, curs'd ettin warshrine, and horsemen. Maybe they will become what models are left from the slaves to darkness if they don't become part of the everchosen, or maybe thats the separation - armoured slaves become everchosen, and nekkid slaves become darkoath. who knows! So as @Chikout mentioned above, it's confirmed (99.99% ??) that their will be a new Starter Set : I guess it will be called "Soul Wars" too (as @LLV said), and I prey to the Pantheon that it will include the hardback Core Book (just like Dark Imperium). And I must say, 200 pages of fluff, maps of the Realms and new artworks really bring unbridled joy to my heart after this amazing Saturday on the models side. I'm looking forward to the daily articles about the new edition (add that to the Malign Portents stories ) and to see the Mortarch Of Grief, oh and to hear more about Forge World AOS, @RuneBrush ! Happy, expensive, joyful times ...

Now the core rules for both games are only a couple of pages so I expect that the Age of Sigmar starter will have a full book. The fluff that GW has added to Age of Sigmar actually makes it a pretty interesting setting but way too much of it is locked in highly expensive campaign books. They really need to compile the main parts of the background into a new core book and I suspect that they will do that with this new starter. Yeah this is totally right. I bought the last Realmgate War game book and was blown away by the quality of the background in it, I just wasn't willing to spend the money to get all the rest. I have high hopes that not only is that stuff included but expanded on in this new book.

I have some doubt about the Darkoath as well, it doesn’t seem like the kind of thing that would fit in line with what they’ve been doing in new armies. I suppose the other possibility is they borrowed all the Herald models from future projects, not necessarily from future armies, and the warqueen is from a new specialist/boxed game, like a new Warhammer quest (much like the Darkoth chieftain..)
