    The Hag!

    By Eevika

The Troggoth Hag is definitely a piece I believe every Troggoth army needs. It's amazing as a model and amazing on the table. I rarely do such detailed eyes and faces but when working on a model that is the centrepiece of your army you want to spend some extra time just to make it special. This is surely the best work I have ever done on a models face and I think there is just a lot of character and emotion on the model.  My smaller Troggoths are just green and blue but for t

Start of a new project

I'd entered the Budget of Sigmar 2: Electric Boogaloo challenge a month or so ago. The challenge is to paint a small force where every model is converted. I thought my focus on Alarielle would put a fork in my hobby challenge, but I decided to try and get back on it. I've converted (barely) a unit of 10 chaos warriors and base coated them alongside finishing the test model for the army. The conversion is really simple - I just added savage Orruk spears and shields to the 10 guys.  The base

Krell, Mortarch of Despair

I've finished Krell, and with that Clear the Backlog: Phase 2!     Krell is progably one of my favorite models. It's big, tough and looks deadly. Krell seriously looks like he'd turn any opponent into several small pieces. Fun fact, this is the last of the "classic" VC character models in my collection. Some clear evidence of progress there. I actually put him together more than a year ago, but never got around to him. Now I'm only really missing Arkhan, and I'll have all the

The Dark Elf Sorceress

This was a little piece that I decided to do for the Facehammer GT Painting competition, but in the end I decided that I didn't fancy it as the basing was a bit quick and dirty and didn't really have much detail. The red faces and skulls really don't show up in the photos well either. I was really pleased with the flesh on the model, and she was a lot of fun to paint up.

Letting blood and reading a bit more

Hey everyone!! Sorry for the delay on updates been really busy with work and life. In the mean time I've managed to get a few games in with my 1000pt Khorne army to great success (only losing to iron jaws)! I haven't been able to get much painting in sadly but this week is shaping up to be a good one for hobbying. I managed to get 30 bloodletters primed red and the skin finished on 8/10 reavers(I somehow missed the other 2 lol) ill be back at the end of the week hopefully with 30 compl

Lords of War Tournament

Yesterday was the Lords of War tournament run by Scott Reed and hosted by At Ease Games in San Diego. We had 10 players show up for a one day three round event. The tables were beautiful. At Ease Games has a bunch of F.A.T Mats from Frontline Gaming and a huge range of terrain. On a given day At Ease Games can accommodate at least 10 6’x4′ mats with a ton of terrain.   Scott, the Tournament Organizer (T.O.), utilized bestcoastpairings.com for registration and matchups. The program allows th

Alarielle the Everqueen

Two weeks before the Facehammer GT I decided that I could probably add Alarielle to my army list. The model is very impressive, and I basically worked on her in three separate stages - The Base, the Wardroth Beetle and Alarielle herself. Basing Alarielle  For the base I followed my standard Sylvaneth basing style. I've written about it so much on this blog I imagine anyone could follow it now with ease! The first step was to glue down a nutella lid onto the so I knew where my wate

What's been going on?

The return to school put a hammer blow into my regular updates here - I'm blaming that, but it's not really the only reason! I have actually done a few bits and pieces. I'm looking at taking my Freeguild to Blood and Glory in November so I've started prepping for the rebasing of these guys. I've slowly been adding in some new warmachines as well. I finished a Hellstorm Rocket Battery and a Dwarf Organ Gun.  As you can see these guys don't have their bases yet! I've bought the shattered

Waxing Philosophical In The Age of Sigmar

I made a post in the forum thread recently, that I felt really articulated my own fascination with the fluff side of the Age of Sigmar and the Mortal Realms in which it is set.  So I thought I'd rework it a bit, and put it up on my blog as well.  Let's be honest, I'm in a bit of hobby slump at the moment (I've been playing too much WoW), so at the moment, my thoughts are all I have to offer the community at large.   What follows is an edited version of my original post.  So, if you've read

A cheeky Video!

I watched a few videos by @Vincent Venturella where he shows off his armies and it inspires me to produce my own. It's much easier to talk about the models than write about them! You can find the video here:

'Right of Conquest' Map Campaign Version 2

Finally, I have begun play testing this campaign system, and so far so good. There are enough tactical choices in choosing which territory to attack, that the 'Empire building' game feels exciting, and each individual battle is enriched because of it. The initial choice of capital cities is very much led by which 'spoils' you will gain from owning that city (in the General's Handbook some of the spoils are way more powerful than others), but as the campaign grows, the tactical choices open up, s

Making Awesome Bases!

So in my opinion basing is the best way to put a mini into its own story so I put a lot of effort into them. I just released a video on youtube of my latest base creation for my orruk megaboss! If you have the time please check it out  Thanks for the support tga.community is awesome and I love the content here! Hopefully you guys like this too!

PestileNZ - Rats in Middle Earth!

Well I made it out to NZ. The blue case and the KR were both full of minis, paints and modelling stuff when I left Exeter bus stn last week! I've started back at work already so don't have much time to update this, but wanted to post the pics and will update when I get free time. First tournament was Guardcon at the Auckland City Guard club in Remeura Auckland, It was on the day after I arrived and I almost missed it because my visa came late. Placed 2nd and won best painted army which was prett

Warhammer Quest: Arcane Heroes

On Saturday we saw Games Workshop put up another expansion for Warhammer Quest titled  Arcane Heroes. It gives players 5 more playable characters for both The Silver Tower and Age of Sigmar. Along with the Mighty Heroes expansion this brings the total number of playable models to 15. Arcane Heroes includes: Grey Seer Chaos Sorcerer Knight-Heralder Sorceress Skink Priest Before I get to value I would like to point out the Sorceress model is an old Night Elf Sorceress model. Battlecats!

So the painting could continues slowly as I do all kinds of bits and pieces at home. I think I have decided on green for the beasts themselves but I will have to see as I lighten up the skin. Slow going and I think I need a new light set up.

Warsphinx completed!

Phase 2 is running on schedule! The newest addition to the growing horde is the magnificent Warsphinx. Such a lovely model!   The full thing, in all its glory. I remember the day when the Bone Giant was a large model. Now it's small, almost weedy compared to this. The Tomb Kings continue their triumphant model line with this thing. As a lover of the Tomb Kings, getting my hands on this was a triumph. They were OoP when I bought it, but @Dangermouse425 provided.

First Steps

Here are a few of my finished works so far. I'm aware of some of the weirder problems, like wash dry spots and stubborn mold lines. It was my first time on this color scheme! I've got some new pictures to post soon with some models that look much better?

Plastic Skin Wolves: This Weeks Output 24/09/16

Only one unit done this week, I've been slowed down by having to put together a board for armies on parade. So here are my skin wolves made from crypt horrors with fenrisian wolf heads. This is the first time I've worked on matting areas down with lahmian medium after the model gets my usual gloss spray to get a matt/gloss contrast. Here I've focused on the fur. And here's my blast from the past. A unit of ogre conversions, using the spare heads from some other crypt horrors/flaye

Finished GUO

Finished my GUO, and really happy with it. First off I would like to thank Dan from the Tales of Sigmar Podcast for his help. He has been fantastic as always when I need a hobby kick up the ****** and this army wouldn't have happened without him. More specifically this model. I started with the base colours of my Plague Lord but soon discovered that the sculpt was way too realistic and detailed for the cartoon style and colour I had chosen. As with most my painting its a very organic proces

Dabbling in the Dark Arts

Hey Party People! I am LOVING AoS! Over the past couple weeks I've had a great time playing with my "Raiders of OOP" Fimir Undead Army (I'll post pictures later). But, after some thinking I decided I wanted to work on something a little more modern and colorful. And for some reason I always end up buying new models that end up sitting in my closet, forever unpainted (go figure, huh?). Now that I think about it, I do have a pretty serious case of #hobbywobble. Enter Tzeentch! The Lord o

Tomb Herald on Chariot

I finally started working on a Tomb Herald on chariot conversion idea I have had for years. This guy is still very WIP and has a lot of work left to be done, the chariot is just a stand in for right now, his will be much fancier. The raised hand will either have a flail of skulls or be hurling a fancy spear. The other hand will be gripping the front rail of the chariot. I'm also thinking of sculpting on a half cloak around his wait of scale armor like his tabard, which will be fluttering back in

Reaving Blood and Escalation

Hey everyone how goes it? Recently my LGS started a slow grow league for AoS which is perfect as it coincided with me getting back into the game. We're staring at 500points and we will be escalating every month up to 2500 points(of course I do plan to buy other things in the mean time) I had a friend generous enough to give me 40 blood reavers along with the characters from the AoS starter box. I like reavers more than warriors because Sid the mass amount of rend I have access too. Sure I'll nev

Warlords

Hi all, Last weekend was the first big Warhammer Age of Sigmar event at the home of Warhammer! It was also live streamed on Twitch, me and @Ben played in round two, I'm sure he will be along to tell you all how it went ? I used the Knights of Azyr, a small model army but I have played it a lot and hoped to do well, four wind and a painting nomination put me 5th overall.  Lover the weekend I played ten games and learned so much about my list even after so many practice games. It st
