    The Hag!

    By Eevika

The Troggoth Hag is definitely a piece I believe every Troggoth army needs. It's amazing as a model and amazing on the table. I rarely do such detailed eyes and faces but when working on a model that is the centrepiece of your army you want to spend some extra time just to make it special. This is surely the best work I have ever done on a models face and I think there is just a lot of character and emotion on the model.  My smaller Troggoths are just green and blue but for t

Armies on Parade GW York

Hey there all! Painting is coming along don't you worry, and I will repost my battle report here when I've made up a bit of fluff for it (find it in my forum thread atm). But today I popped into my local store, GW York, to check out armies on parade. Some really fantastic entries, including a space hulk diorama with lights and sounds. Gave my vote however to the skaven force with the cliffs and water on the board. Great effort in both the base and the army. Second place for me are the orks, who

For Glory, not Honour

For Glory, not Honour  Saturday 8th of November was the first official group event attendance for the Hammerers. Solent wargamers club were the hosts for Honour & Glory, held at the Royal British Legion South in Portsmouth. We would play three randomly determined games all from the matched play section of the generals handbook. Including the four attending Hammerers, the event had a total of 12 gamers. Our armies were: James - Flesh Eater Courts Chris - Devoted /

Armies on Parade 2016

It is that time of year for us to muster our forces and display them proper in Armies on Parade! Every year I watched as hobbyists across the globe created armies and display boards for their local Armies on Parade.  Seeing the projects was always a great way to get my hobby mojo going either through the White Dwarf or Online posts by the community.  This year I finally have a Games Workshop location within driving distance and I am finally able to participate. I decided to use my Stormcas

Introduction

Good Afternoon! I wanted to get this down so I basically commit myself to it. As the title and description says. 7 armies in one year. Easy.... My first task will be of course picking the 7 armies I want to do. Over the past couple of days, I have created a 1000 point army for every faction in AoS so far. You can find the link to this below, 1000pt Army Lists for every faction I then went onto looking back through them and creating a shortlist, this took the list down to 17 armies

Lahmanet, Warrior Aspirant

Lahmanet, my Warrior Aspirant for the RAW: Legends event, is done! “He does not see it. Very well. I am tired of fighting a lost war. Not when there’s a cause that can be won. I need to get a message to the Lightning Men. A parley. An alliance of our might to theirs. The Order can’t fulfil its vows if every battle is lost before we fight it. With them though, there may yet be a chance. Only Ahken-Sur stands in the way. The Holy Order of the Guardian Moon is an old order, stretchi

Campaign battle report: Fortifying the Citadel

Orcs had found a ruined citadel near the border of the vale. Hastily they started rebuilding it, but Bretonnian scouts reported about the danger and army of Grail Knights set forth. Battleplan: The Monolith (one side has to build a monolith: roll 1d6 each hero phase, 20 points needed to complete, +1 for general adjacent to it, opponent can desecrate it if within 3 inches and rolls 4+; victory conditions: major victory for completing or desecrating the monolith). Matrix result: did not

Preparing for my first tournament

I've always wanted to attend an event and often between life, money, and kids it's always been just an idea that's never blossomed into a reality. A few weeks back I was casually looking through the events section on this site and noticed a one day 1000pt event in Leeds. Not being very far I mentioned to the wife that it might be cool to go, not really expecting a response (she often goes deaf when hobby is mentioned) she responds with "cool you should go,". I paused expecting some sort of barga

Some Bare Bones WIPs

I've been working on some modelling and sculpting and conversion. These are two models I'm particularly proud of: a mounted wight king and the leader of my grave guard. The wight king started as a black knight model, but with a shield from the grave guard kit, a head from the skeleton warrior kit, a morningstar from the ancient skeleton regiment box, and a pimp collar that's partly third party "wolf pelts" and partly greenstuff. The grave guard is a bog-standard grave guard, but with the ax rath

Realmgate Wars: Godbeasts

For the third installment of the Realmgate Wars gaming supplements Godbeasts appear to be the first to have an original storyline. The previous two books drew from Black Library books offering abridged versions of the narrative. As the title suggests this book is about a couple different types of gods in the Warhammer: Age of Sigmar universe. There are five primary gods; Sigmar, Alarielle, Grimnir, Gorkamorka, Nagash along with the four Chaos gods. There are also what are called Godbeasts. One

Necrosphinx

So I took the plunge and started painting my Necrosphinx. I expect this guy to take awhile. I will probably break up my painting on him and do other projects in between sections so I don't get bored. I'm painting him in chunks, starting with the stone, then I'll move onto the gold. I decided to start out with the main body, next I'll move onto the hood and tail then the legs before moving onto the gold. I am going for a black marble look. I have a tutorial for it up on my website. I'm pretty hap

The base quandry

So I finally got round to opening up the boxes of bases I have laying around and start to work on them. The first idea is to keep them fairly dull in colour, or should I say tone, seeing as the red and gold is quite bright on the model itself.    So airbrush them grey, that's a good start. Then I quickly realised having 2 kinds of grey on the base was above my skill level/effort to achieve on a short time scale so a second colour was required. Dark Browns just didn't seem right in gene

Welcome to the Garden

Hi All This is my first entry in my blog. The intention is to present photos of my miniatures and battle reports showcasing our group's Age of Sigmar games in Christchurch, New Zealand. I will post pictures of my Nurgle Rotbringers and small Stormcast Eternal in due course, but first up is Morbidex and his Nurgling horde taking on some clean and shiny Hammers of Sigmar The battle begins, but Morbidex finds himself ambushed some Paladins with pointy looking spears, he survives

A grand ritual of awakening and a trip to the spa!

To get the ball rolling I've decided to take a 1000 point list to a little tournament in a spa this weekend. I've had 4 weeks to get this done whilst also trying to balance a new addition to the family . This has been a lesson in speed painting though the results are very satisfactory. The colour scheme was chosen by my three year old on a trip to Warhammer World and I really like the effect. Consultation fee of one Elsa doll has been paid! So the list is as follows: Vampire Lord

Bloodstoker

Not perfect, but actually I'm pretty happy. A couple sausage edge highlights, but not too bad, really. Hair looks a bit flat, should have/should spend a bit more time on it. Not sure whether or not I should edge highlight the top/front edge of the whip strands, or similar. Not 100% happy with the blood on the ends of the whip - feels like too much, but it was hard to 'get' directionality. I love any sort of feedback. Excuse the lazy photos.

Slaughterpriest!

This is Slaughterpriest-freebie from White Dwarf. The model didn’t come in the Silver Tower boxed game, but there are rules for him to use in Silver Tower in White Dwarf, so I guess he counts to show in this blog… The reason I painted him as soon as I got him is because I wanted to enter him in the Slaughterpriest painting competition in the forum section of this site… A fine gentleman like this needs a fitting name. So please let me introduce you to mister KONOK CINDERMIGHT! This is h

The Realmgate Wars: Balance of Power Review

Balance of Power is the second installment in the Realmgate Wars released by Games-Workshop. Like it’s predecessor, The Quest for Ghal Maraz, it contains a condensed version of the Black Library novel Warbeast, 8 new Battle Plans, and an assortment of new Warscrolls and Warscroll Battalions. The story continues with a rag tag group of Stormcast Eternals and remaining forces of Alarielle the Everqueen’s Sylvaneth host and their desperate retreat from the forces of Chaos. The Lady of Vines, cradl

Welcome To... Me!

And here I am posing with my Start Collecting! box. It's hardly the first models I've bought for this branch of my Undead, but it's definitely the core of the force, since ten snap-fit skeletons, ten grave guard without bases, five black knights, and a couple of different wight kings are hardly an army. I mean, I guess technically it's an army, but not a good one. I'd like to get everyone to write a little something about themselves and why they chose this army for our Tale of Gamers, and s

More finished models for my Chaos Allegiance

Some of the work in progress pictures of my Great Unclean One which was about 99% finished for Warlords! So I started by building the majority of the model and the cut off the tentacle whip arm and positioned it on the rear of the model to be his new tail. I cut away a large amount of the top of the model and then filled the body with pieces of scrap cork so the repositioned spikes on top would have something to attach to.   I then filled in the top of the model with some old

Custom warscrolls

My first ideas for custom warscrolls: Warlock apprentice: 4 wound character. Warplock hellbard. Not a wizard, but can dispell one spell per round as a wizard. Mechanical rats: Melee unit. Wolfsize rat robots. Bases on the warscroll of Direwolves Warp Golems: Melee unit. Size between clanrat and rat ogre. 2 or 3 wounds. Not a killer but decent in combat. More to come.

Welcome

Welcome to my blog.  My plan is to write a Battletome for Clan Skryre. I play and collect skaven for nearly 20 years in Warhammer Fantasy and had always a preference for clan Skryre with its fancy tech&magic style. My first step is to create some custom warscrolls to expand the current range of Clan Skryre. Comments, Critic and suggesions welcome!
