    The Hag!

    By Eevika

The Troggoth Hag is definitely a piece I believe every Troggoth army needs. It's amazing as a model and amazing on the table. I rarely do such detailed eyes and faces but when working on a model that is the centrepiece of your army you want to spend some extra time just to make it special. This is surely the best work I have ever done on a models face and I think there is just a lot of character and emotion on the model.  My smaller Troggoths are just green and blue but for t

Bonkers Basing 2!

I've been doing bits and pieces on this base for the last few evenings. It always takes time with water effects as they take quite a while to dry, and also need to be built up in layers. Overall I'm pretty pleased with the effects, although I still feel like the white water rushing up to the sides and making waves looks good in places, but in others could be better. I chopped the feet off the ghouls and the running away man so it looks like they are running through a bloody pool, which I think i

Not quite the end times

Had an evening to myself and thought I'd play a bit of solohammer, as a break from just painting recently. I didn't have time enough to have a go at the first End Times scenario so I thought I'd wind the clock back and just play out an idea based on a previous campaign I ran a few years back, set in an area of the Grey Mountains bordering Nuln to the north and Parravon/Athel Loren to the south, called Hag Pass. After defeating a previous vampiric incursion in the Pass -an uneasy peace has h

Holy Havok Tables!

I figured I would show off some of @Holy Hammer Hern's beautiful tables from Holy Havok.  Check out these beauties!     Table 1: Aelf, Shrine of the Phoenix I didn't have the opportunity to play on this board but it is my understanding that wizards who occupied the tower could measure from either of the beacons to determine range to their target. Table 2: Aelf, Temple of Khaine This was another table I didn't have the opportunity to play on.  The two temples/shrines

The Age of Myth

The singing valley of Chamon was known since the Age of Myth. It received it's name by the countless hammer mills build into the valley's flanks, which were power by small water streams. Day and night they were working to create fine blades and tools, with countless hammers hitting the anvils, never getting tired thanks to the waterpower. That constant smiting caused the sound the inhabitants of the valley proudly considered to be their song.  Whereas other regions in Chamon created spectac

Holy Havok Wrap-up with Army Photos

Holy Havok is over and what an event it was!  Vince and I were in competition for three of the five top awards (Best Overall, Best Appearance, and Best Warlord).  Ironically enough, we ended up placing second in all three categories.  We were technically tied for Best Overall and they had to go down three tiers of comparisons (Match points, Sportsmanship, and then to play schedule) to decide on who took home the hardware.  Considering Vince and I have never played these forces together (and my s

My thoughts regarding the list I am building

Welcome to my Legion of Azgorh blog. I have chosen Legion of Azgorh for my next army project mainly because I like the models but I would also like to try to make it competitive so I can take the army to tournaments and win some games. In this blog I will post VIP of my painting, battle reports and some random thoughts on Legion of Azgorh strategy and tactics. This will be a slow blog, I might play my first battle with painted models next autumn. But if you like Legion of Azgorh cl

The Doom of Belegar, a new campaign for you!

For the next update of Battletome: The End Times, you'll get your hands on the new Mighty Battles campaign system. The Mighty Battles is a system for narratively linking your games, creating a campaign for two players. Each battle will have an effect on the overall campaign. These campaigns are short, usually between 3-6 battles, and easy to play using whatever forces you have. Designed to be played over a few weeks, a weekend or even a single day, the Mighty Battles lets you quickly and ef

Weirdnob Morkhead Conversion

I started working on this conversion today.  I was too excited to not assemble him immediately.  I also regret this immediately.   His name is Morkhead.  I added a skull mask and two extra pieces of cloth.  This is Morkhead after the first yellow glaze.  I'll build up the yellow and do a layer then highlight.  I think I will paint the skull and smoke green to show his proximity to gorkamorka and the waaagh.  But he may look like a greenbay packer.

Big post: Andrew's Ironjawz so far

Excuse the first huge post.   Here is the progress on my army.  You can first see the brutes, then the ardboyz, then the gruntaz and dragon. I had them on green bases to be oldschool.  But I am an artist and could not bear to do something that makes no sense, even for nostalgia.  Bases must be a neutral color.  I went with meadow bases.  The flowers tie the army together. I do not like the shields on the ardboyz.  They are too small.  So I attached the shields to the ardboyz faces inste

Green Tower Games ITC Battlehost Tournament Recap

Yesterday was the Age of Sigmar Battlehost Tournament at Green Tower Games in Santa Clarita, CA. The event had 8 players show up for a one day 3 round scrap. Once again I brought my Nurgle Rotbringers led by The Glotkin. There was another Chaos Nurgle, Tzeentch Slave to Darkness, Skaven, Stormcast Eternals, Ghoul Kings, Duardin Dispossessed, and Bretonnians armies present. The rounds drew the following scenarios: Escalation, Gifts from the Heavens, and Blood and Glory. I was paired with Ian

Holy Havok is here!

Holy Havok is here!  Gaming is in full swing here at the Holy Havok teams event and things are crazy!  Despite finishing our game early, it seems most games aren't getting past turn two in their allotted 3 hours.  Even though there are only a couple turns in most cases, the games are both engaging, complex and quite enjoyable.  Each scenario has 4 objectives so setup and strategy are the most important things for achieving victory (more than just killing power for sure).  Our team, The End

FInished Runefather on Magmadroth

Hello guys, I have finally finished my Runefather. This was a real interesting thing to paint, and I admit I cut a few corners to get it done but I'm still super happy with the end result. The base I think came out particularly well. The icicles are made of melted flying stands, trimmed and hit with a gloss varnish. Finally, here is the entire painted army as it currently stands! Hope you enjoy:

The Aeskhaine

Good evening, Quick update on something I have been working on today... The chariot is half assembled on my workbench, but today I received some bits frome the wild riders kit and an idea struck me, so I followed the inspiration! I was always intrigued by the small reference in ET Khaine to a faction called Aeskhaine, who fought alongside Tyrion in his last battle for the Isle of the Dead... These elves are the degenerate ones who succumbed to the Shadow of Khaine and became bloodthirs

Holy Havok Surprise

I have a small treat to share with you all today!  As many of you likely know, Vince and I are headed off today for Holy Havok this weekend and we're super stoked.  For those that don't know about Holy Havok, it is a new team narrative event/tournament in the Chicago area which is put on by the Holy Wars club and, much like its predecessor Holy Wars GT, it is renowned for its fantastic tables.  This event was organized prior to the General Handbook's release so it has some pretty interesting for

More Progress on Runefather, army shot

Hi there guys, Update on the Runefather. The Runefather himself is almost done, and the base is finished. Still have a lot of work to do on the horns and spines, as well as some more highlighting on the black and lots of details. Definitely more than halfway there. I am super happy with the base. The driftwood turned out fantastic, only took a few drybrushes. I added the icicles on a whim but I think they look great! They are made from those GW flying stands, melted an

Warhammer Weekly - General's Handbook Special Character Review

Join Vince and I for another week of news, rumors and all things warhammer-y. This week after covering current news and rumors, we talk about the forgotten and (mostly) long dead Special Characters of the old world hidden away in the compendium section of the General's handbook. These characters are often wild cards, but are they worth resurrecting or should they be left to the ash bin of history?   Check out our picks for the best and worst of the remnants and make sure to sound off your picks

Ghorgon

As a little side-trek from destruction, I painted a ghorgon for my kid to play with. The model is HUGE. It took ages to complete. Skin was done with two layers of Cadian Fleshtone plus three layers of red shade. It took some time till I got used to covering so large area with shade, so it is not as smooth as I wanted. I messed up a bit the first layer and could not repair it later. The horns blending I drybrushed (but the brush was just a tiny bit wet) as recommended by ConOgre in his

Dramatis Personae - The Jotenberg War

Overview – The Jotenbergs’, mountain-heralds of the coming of season in Ghyran, are being corrupted by the forces of the Chaos God Nurgle.  Rarely seen and few in number, most have been defiled by Rotbringers, however, some still remain. From Azyr, the Celestial Realm, Sigmar sends the lithe host of Virion the Cleanser, and the stalwart ‘Stone-Hearts’ Warrior Chamber of the Lions of Sigmar to ensure no more of these beings fall, or the Realm of Life would surely suffer. Awaiting them is the dark
