    The Hag!

    By Eevika

The Troggoth Hag is definitely a piece I believe every Troggoth army needs. It's amazing as a model and amazing on the table. I rarely do such detailed eyes and faces but when working on a model that is the centrepiece of your army you want to spend some extra time just to make it special. This is surely the best work I have ever done on a models face and I think there is just a lot of character and emotion on the model.  My smaller Troggoths are just green and blue but for t

Progression as a painter

So, I finally got to rebase all my ogre models. Instead of plain black painted square bases I now have round bases with agrellan earth, stones etc. Looks so much better. I also completed Stonehorn and Thundertusk, both great models and lovely to paint. I will post post pictures of both round bases and new painted models as soon as I get some pictures done. To sum up this year hobby-wise: it was surprisingly fun. I painted my first model ever in March, this year. I took a look on

Warshrine Finished (painting Gold)

I was able to find a bit of time on Christmas Eve to finish off this model. Glad its finally off the painting table and ready for some battles.  The metals were quite challenging. When I've been submitting modes to the Google+ PMP community I have had a lot of feedback about improving the contrast in my golds, so I made an effort to try and do it here. I used GW Retributer Armor as a base that I shaded with Agrax Earthshade. I also used Nuln Oil in the deeper recesses as well. Once it all d

WIP it Good

Here's a couple of WIPs for absolutely no good reason. First, as you can see, I'm almost done with the paint on the liberator prime: And second, here's the finished kit-bash for a retributor prime:

The Warshrine!

I've been planning this Warshrine since last Christmas, so I've finally decided to try and get it finished. Originally I had planned to put it in my SCGT 2016 army, but I never managed to get it complete due to personal reasons and so it was left sitting on the painting table. Now that I am working on the Nurgle army I have decided to use it this time as part of my Budget of Sigmar Two Army. However I'd also like it to fit in to the Slaanesh army as well. I have tried to combine the two differen

Astral Templars Deploy

The plan is to eventually have a mixed Order army based around Astral Templars backed up by the remnants of my Seraphon army. I plan to use lots of Seraphon and Space Wolf bits to customize my Astral Templars, giving them the primal decorations that were described in the novels and audio dramas. Expect some attempts at freehand as well. Without further ado... Here's the paint scheme I'm going for:   And here's Duncan's video describing the way to get that purple. An

Floating Islands - Disaster Strikes!

So I was continuing on with the floating islands when I had a bit of a disaster. I finished up the bottom pool with the resin pour, added in all the flock and foliage and was pretty much happy with it. I then decided it was time to start the top island which is when disaster struck. I thought it was sealed up tight, but there were some gaps under the acrylic so the resin all poured down the perspex support into the bottom pool. This led to me to deciding a complete redesign is needed.

Changing armies with 40 days to go...

Hello folks.   A quick introduction is in order.  I'm Bill Castello, 1/3 of the hosts of the Rolling Bad Podcast, and I have started this blog in the back, dark corner of TGA to allow you to have a good laugh at my expense.  I have been into AoS since it first came out (day 1 adopter) but I never played a single game of WHFB in my life.  I have played GW games since Rogue Trader came to my FLGS when I lived in Germany.  It has been a hell of a ride, and I have loved every minute of it.  I d

Green stuff fiddlin'

I shall warn you all now, Bad quality photos ahead. A new camera is definitely on my christmas list. Anyway, Today after lurking around the forum while ignoring the huge amount of essays I have piled up, I bumped into @HobbyHammer thread about the realmhoppers campaign and it looks amazingly fun. With that in mind I decided on starting a little destruction side project with some dodgy models I bought for dirt cheap.  It will just be a little 1k Gutbusters warband ( I am enjoying h

The Importance of your Hobby Space and Future Content

Happy Holidays everyone!  Today I wanted to take some time to discuss your Hobby Space and give you some insight to future content I will be putting out (with help) to the community in the coming year. Where the hobby happens... Above you will see my new dedicated hobby area (Video Tour here).  There is still more lighting to add as well as general improvements due to it being my basement, but that will come with time.  While it will always be in constant development I could not be happie

Nighhaunts Army in Progress

I ended up having to push my Nighthaunt tutorial back to next week due to issues with the post. Looks like a few packages of mine are taking longer then expected to arrive from the UK. In the meantime though I have started on the rest of my army. All I'm missing at the moment are my Banshee and Mourngul. I have glued everything else together, primed it all white, and given everything the first wash of Nihilakh Oxide. On 3 of the Spirit Hosts I have also gone in with the more selective wash of Co

Less Cheese - More Freeze

After lots of thought I decided to theory craft a less cheese-tastic list for the upcoming tournament for a number of reasons: As my first tournament and having not met other players I want to make friends more than I want to win. I don't want to win matches due to a broken army rather than because I played well I want to dedicate my army to a sub faction rather than a mixed destruction army for my first tournament  With that in mind I have crafted a potential list and w

Getting started

Back in the autumn of 2015 I attended an AoS tournament up in Scotland at Stirling Games and 2 things happened that day.The 1st was I had an awesome time(and did pretty well even tho I turned up late and missed the 1st game). The 2nd was driving home I realised just how well suited AoS was a tournament game and I had a gut feeling that it was going to get way more popular than Fantasy in the coming months and years. Only problem was there was nowhere of note locally or in the North East to actual

Floating Islands!

Since I finished the Oak of Ages I decided I wanted two more large pieces to go on the table top. Inspired by this piece of art from the Realmgate Wars book I decided to try and create my own freestanding islands with waterfalls. I've been playing around with realistic water a lot so I think it will work well for  the waterfall, however its the constructional elements that will sell these pieces and whether or not I can successfully hide the supports.  I started out with three basic co

Final non-Greenskin, promise!

And here we have a finished Skink! Really, really pleased with this, not sure if it beats my Weirdnob as my best paint job yet but it was really fun messing about with different colours and trying out new stuff. My favourites personally are the freehand scales and the glazing to darken the skin towards the back, as well as the feathers, and the way the bones on the sculpted base poke through the snow. Valhallen Blizzard is fantastic, my next force after Ironjawz is being snowey (hopefully Arcani

The Battle of Rottswill Pond

Sensing a small fissure in the Realm of Life is leaking more than just bileous filth, the Hammers of Sigmar are dispatched to seal the odorous hole in reality known as Rottswill Pond. Only to find the Glottkin and their Filth-Host standing in the way. The battle lines are drawn, with the Stormcast being tasked with destroying the small but vile puddle in the bottom right corner. Ethrac Glott summons Daemonic allies hold the Rotbringer flank, as the two forces draw closer.

Painting Showcase - Hurricanum - Knights - Heroes

The last few weeks have been absolutely manic hobby-wise preparing for the Age of Santa event in Cardiff. As my second Age of Sigmar tournament loomed closer and closer I started to worry I had bitten off more than I could chew in terms of the amount of new models I wanted to bring. As it came to the final week, I even considered taking some models half finished - but no. I wanted to win 'Best Painted' deep down and so persevered. A couple of late nights and painting at my office desk each morni

Undiscovered Power Lists: Archaon Rotbringer

Welcome to the second part of our list-tech series, wherein I explore the dark apertures of a mind so insidious, even the Lords of Chaos can’t come up with lists as broken as his. I refer of course to the mystical augur we know only as ‘Jim’. Jim comes up with thematic, non-legacy lists that we haven’t yet seen from the international tournament scene, or at least are not as prominent as we feel they could be. Last time we looked at a badass, Dragon-Riding ‘A(e)lfa Strike’ list. You can

The Elephant in the Room: Why Matched Play Should Not Be The Default

When I first heard about Age of Sigmar, I was skeptical.  It had been some 15 years since I last played a Games Workshop game (circa 3rd edition 40k) and while I never had much of an attachment to the Warhammer Fantasy world, the fact it was just destroyed and replaced with something else was a little weird.  After I gave it more thought and saw how streamlined (NOTE: This is not the same thing as "dumbed down" which is a common anti-AOS retort I've seen) it was, and the fact there were no point

Reunited by fate

After a restless 2 days march, Arabor's legion of the dead reached their old capitol - Horehuson. Once a proud city of around 10.000 inhabitants, you could now only see some remains of fortified buildings made of stone, which endured the attack of the bloodhound during the Age of Chaos. Those inhabitants, who could not escape the initial, surprising attack had faced a cruel fate, with their flesh teared from their bones alive, and then all of the remains being fed to the Juggernauts and Kor
