    The Hag!

    By Eevika

The Troggoth Hag is definitely a piece I believe every Troggoth army needs. It's amazing as a model and amazing on the table. I rarely do such detailed eyes and faces but when working on a model that is the centrepiece of your army you want to spend some extra time just to make it special. This is surely the best work I have ever done on a models face and I think there is just a lot of character and emotion on the model.  My smaller Troggoths are just green and blue but for t

Death Knell battle report

Battle report for the last battleplan in the AOS starter box, Death Knell. The Hammers of Sigmar have added a Stardrake to their ranks whilst the Goretide now incorporate a Daemons starter box. The battle began with the Stormcast moving towards the Goretide battleline, the chaos visibly trembled as the Stardrake leered at them from over the treetops. Despite the battleplan victory conditions requiring the death of the general for victory, Vandus’ Hammerhand led the line on his Dracoth

Second battle!

So, I am back, and with another battle under my belt! So today someone required an opponent at my local, and despite preferring 2000 points, I only have 1000 so they happily scaled down. We played the first battleplan from the stormcasts book, which he was using. It is essentially the stormcasts needing to hold a realmgate which they teleport in around, and I had to deploy first outside a 15 inch bubble from the gate. Whilst in the bubble, the stormcast take no battleshock tests, and the gate

The Reason I'm at this Party

As i mentioned in the first post, what really drew me into AOS was seeing the big bad dinosaurs of the Seraphon. They are fantastic models and i can't help but be drawn into them. So when i decided to start into AOS the core starter and Seraphon was a no brainer for me. As it stands right now i have the below list: 10 Warriors 15 Knights 1 Priest 1 Starpriest 1 Carnosaur 1 Stegadon 1 Scar vet on Cold one   I am also looking to see if I can kitbash out

2016 round up, Death! And Death to the bringers of Death!

I painted a few Death models... Quite a few actually. I started painting Death in 2015, after AoS dropped. I had originally started in the hobby with Tomb Kings, and now was the perfect time to refind that love. But since TK were on the way out, I went with pure Death. That didn't last... But for today, here's all the regular, non TK stuff I've painted!     First up today are the troops!   40 skeleton warriors... Ugh. This was a grind! I wanted skeleton hordes

Pass of Hidden Hands (Edit)

This is the same story posted earlier but I can not seem to edit mistakes I caught on subsequent proof readings. So here is an edited version with some grammer and readability improvements.   Alarik stepped out of the realmgate onto the soil of Ulgu, his retinue close in step. Having so recently been among the purifying light of Sigmar's kingdom, the sudden and complete blackness of Ulgu blinded him. His eyes desperately grasping for light as they struggled to adjust. After a few

New Year, old year round up

It's 2017. That means I'm doing my now-yearly model round up. It's a simple thing, really. Take a picture of every model that I painted in 2016, host it, and write a little blurb about them. I have done a ton this year, much more than I expected! So strap in. This is going to be a three parter, and not one to miss!   First up is Order! At the tail end of the year, I started up my Duardin force again. Didn't get to do much, but I'm very proud of what got painted!   First up is

Pass of Hidden Hands

Here is the latest entry leading up to our first game.   The Pass of Hidden Hands Alarik stepped out of the realmgate onto the soil of Ulgu, his retinue close in step. Having so recently been among the purifying light of Sigmar's kingdom, the sudden and complete blackness of Ulgu blinded him. His eyes desperately grasping for light as they struggled to adjust. After a few moments he could make out some blurry shapes within the small halo of ghostly violet light emitted by the

Khorne Bloodbound - As Yet Unnamed Horde

I still need to name this Horde, but it still need to decide the direction its going. Until then the list only consists of the Khorne half of the starter set and the Slughter Priest from White Dwarf. I have painted 2 of the bloodreavers, not completely finished but enough for the moment. There's still a little bit of clean up and highlighting still to do. but here are the first photos .

There's Always a Beginning

Greetings All,   As the title says, I am the Accidental Cultist, so a brief history before the real posting starts. Growing up I always saw the local Games Workshop and was interested in the models, but never got involved. I was always aware of the game, but not of the hobby or lore. In October 2015, I started playing the Warhammer 40,000 Conquest LCG by Fantasy Flight Games (amazing game and i still play even though its been discontinued). This started getting me really interested in

Brief intro and the future.

Now I've never been much of a gamer. Since I saw my first Space Wolf I have loved collecting and every now and again painting a model. I tried to get into Warhammer Fantasy, about a year before the end times kicked off. I became a bit frustrated with the rules and the amount of models you had to get to even field an Army.  When I moved to London a couple of year a go I had set out to create a 40k army. I had amassed 500 points and used to go to my local GW and play the store manager. I

Road to Adepticon 2017

We are less then three months away from Adepticon 2017 and I still feel as if I need more time. This will be my first Adepticon and my first Wargaming convention.  I am very excited to finally participate and see what all the fun is about!  I have attending local tournaments and events and they have been enjoyable and well run, but I have a feeling they will not compare.  I am also excited to meet many people I know though the Twitter community Face to Face ( So please feel free to say Hi to

2016 Painting!

So this was the sum total of my painting for 2016 models wise. All in all I was a little disappointed that I hadn't done as much as I would have liked, but I did do four big monsters as well as Drycha, a Maggoth Lord and the Forest Dragon (not shown here) and that did account for a fair chunk of time at the start of the year in particular.  I finished off the Chaos Army for the South Coast GT this year, but I didn't really finish the army to a cohesive standard due to some personal issues t

At Ease Carnage Tournament Recap

Yesterday was the At Ease Carnage tournament held at At Ease Games in San Diego. The event was run by our very own Scott Reed utilizing the upcoming Las Vegas Open tournament pack. The turnout was phenomenal! We had 20 players show up for the 3 round event. It was the largest Age of Sigmar tournament in the SoCal area to date. For the tournament Scott utilized West Coast pairings. This automated the matchup process along with Swiss scoring and ITC points. At Ease Games provided all the tables n

First models complete of 2017: 10 zombies to go in my TK list.    Basically i I copied a netlist (written by domus) and there were 40 points spare so I was able to upgrade 2 of his units of zombies to skellys to stay more on theme but the last unit had to stay zombies and I had none painted.

Assault on the Plague Gate

Had a great narrative game the other night which I thought I'd share. We normally play with points, but was in the mood for an epic smash up which (I feel) works better with narrative play.   Scenario The attacker (go left to right in below picture) has to move as many units as possible through the Plague Gate (a baleful realm gate). At the conclusion of the match, the attacker would roll a dice and if the result was less than or equal to the number of units that got through

Basing my Orruks!

Hi Guys, Just posted a WiP Vlog video update on how I’m getting on building my Ironjawz force for Age of Sigmar! I have done most of the basing work so far using mainly bark, spare bitz and the like to build some really cool rough battle terrain bases that I really feel suit the Orruks and I’m quite proud of them. C&C are welcome and thank you so much for checking out the video! I really hope you enjoy the content!

2016 Review/2017 Resolution

2016 Final tally was 448 models: Infantry 331, MI 26, Cavalry 12, Epic bases/vehicles 36, Monsters 7, Vehicles 7, WMs 2, Chariots 1 and Terrain 12. Split by Game: AoS 209, 30k 67, Saga 40, Guildball 37, Epic 36, Bolt Action 25, Darklands 24, Warmachine 6, Relic Knights 3, Bloodbowl 1.   As can be seen I’ve flitted around between games a lot this year and now have full armies for multiple systems as a result.  Despite that I’ve not actually been playing all that many

Warhammer Weekly - AOS FAQ Roundtable Discussion

For those that missed it, here was last week's year-end mega episode where we hosted a roundtable discussion of the most recent FAQ released.  So come join us for a panel discussion of the Age of Sigmar FAQ that Games Workshop dropped before the holiday break. We talk through the changes and figure out what is good and bad - and what is still leaving us with questions.
