    The Hag!

    By Eevika

The Troggoth Hag is definitely a piece I believe every Troggoth army needs. It's amazing as a model and amazing on the table. I rarely do such detailed eyes and faces but when working on a model that is the centrepiece of your army you want to spend some extra time just to make it special. This is surely the best work I have ever done on a models face and I think there is just a lot of character and emotion on the model.  My smaller Troggoths are just green and blue but for t

Spite Revenants WiP

These are the final unit I am doing for the army. I've tried a little cheat for these guys - I sprayed them green then overs prayed white and then used nothing but washes for the colours. The only highlights are on the face, the claws and the tabard section. The black bark and the brown bark is just drybrushed. I like the models so I might get a few more, but it's not top of the list at the moment.

One a day

Lazy photography, hoo! Pretty happy in a time:result sort of way, but otherwise nothing amazing. Probably overhighlighted bone bits, lost too much of the variation. Should spend more time on little gem-like bits. Unhappy with claws. Unbased.

Derby Wargames Monthly Challenge 4 - Tree Revenants

After having a week off on holiday I'm back on the Sylvaneth. I took these to Alliance, Ben Curry's one day event, but they were not finished at the time. They also qualify as my entry for our latest Hobby Challenge at Derby Wargames Club. When I got back I completed the banner and added the foliage so that they would fit in with the rest of the army. I went for a pale ethereal skin tone combined with bright green hair. I keep the weapons in a similar hue to hopefully give them the impression of

Tournament Review - Call To Arms 2016

A review of the results and general awesomeness of the Warhammer: Age of Sigmar event at the Wellington Warlord's Call To Arms convention. We had 11 entrants and one ringer player, making it one of the biggest events at Call To Arms. Unfortunately my tournament software failed me on the day, after using it successfully at several previous events. Luckily I had a backup spreadsheet handy, which worked very well. I tend to play at events as well as organise, so luckily this method wasn't

More Chariots for the Legions

I am playing in the Michigan GT at the end of September and want to take my Tomb Kings. With what I have painted now though I don't have enough Battleline units. I could have split my unit of 30 spearmen up, but they really lose effectiveness at smaller numbers. Instead I decided it was time to add more of my favorite TK unit to my army, chariots!  I already have 4 chariots painted, so I only need to paint 2 more and a banner to attach to the fourth one I already have (the one at the b

First game

Tonight I will probably have the first game with my black Seraphon.  Probably, because there's a guy who wants to try to enter in this world, and I'm not sure how long it will take to teach him. Also, we'll likely use the starting box, Khorne vs Stormcasts for this introduction. Black Seraphon, because I had no time to even think to paint them In the meanwhile, I realized that in the last post I haven't formalized my 1000 points list, even if it should be pretty clear from the pic

Colossal Cave Squig (WIP)

I've always loved the Forge World Colossal Squig model and it seems to me to be an absolute must for the Moonclan Grot Squig army. After building the model I felt it seemed a little bland and it didn't seem to fit with the hectic rabble that I envisioned Moonclan Grots to be. I like the idea of the crazy grots eating too many mushrooms and trying to out do each other in dangerous shows of bravado.   I also find it difficult not to kitbash/convert models to individualise them to my army

First step

I was looking at my hobby stuff, not that much I have to say, and my eyes stopped on the old boxes from the 5th edition. I was something like 10 or 12 years old when my brother arrived, smiling at me, with a Warhammer starter box. He used to play high elves since a while, and I was really interested in the game. Looking at those Lizardmen, they looked marvelous and I was so excited I built them that same evening, ready to play the day after. My first game was a defeat, a big one, I onl

Maggoth Lord Selction

I colored outside the lines a little bit with my commitment to buy only one model per paycheck. What can I say? I found a great deal on eBay and "saved" a few bucks? Anyway, no one cares about that. A Maggoth Lord is a big investment and I really only have theories about how each one plays. I put together a survey so you can weigh in which Lord is the best. Two categories, one filth, one hobby. Let me know what you think.

Fields Muddy with the Blood of the Undead

On Sunday I got together with my gaming buddies @Sunchaser and @Malicth at Odyssey Games in Scottsdale, AZ and we got in some games. Sunchaser was tired of beating up my Rotbringers so he split off and faced this dude George who was there and had some Stormcast Eternals. George hadn't played for a few months but was looking to get back in and had a very cool looking army that was coming right along in terms of painting. I faced off against Casey, David (who wrecked my face previously with h

Quick update...

A quick update... So, frustratingly, I have not gotten much done last couple of weeks. Real life stuff etc... Anyway, I have managed to get some more done on the blood reavers and really love the new bloodbound range. However, just recently I picked up a couple of audio books starring the hallowed knights and one mannfred von Carstein! I am completely enthralled with the character and built this guy... Still early days but I think I'll model him in such a way h

Overview

I have had a long held fascination with Slaanesh but have never got around to doing a Slaaneshi army. After getting my Alpha Legion Eternal Stormcast list to where I wanted it to be I took the plunge and picked up the bones of a Slaaneshi army from some fellow gamers that had no use for it. Slaanesh has always been about speed, manipulation and a boat load of attacks that have some element of armour piercing to them, this is all true in age of sigmar so it felt like I was coming from a

From the deep dark comes...!

Stomping, squirming and fluttering, from the deep dark corners of the oldest forests, madness arrives!     Pretty happy with this guy.  I think I could have done the scales and horns better.  I am happy with the skin and wings though! While I was going to do up the Bloodscorch Bullgors next, I unearthed 10 more Gor.  While the Warherd is a bit out of my reach right now (I'd need one more ghorgon and nine more bullgor), the Brayherd is alive and well.

Is a General a General if he only has a Handbook?

Hi Guys, With the release of The Generals Handbook I thought it was a perfect time to start a new Warhammer Age of Sigmar army.   I had started swapping out the bases on my Nurgle Daemons but that just is not the same is it.   I was thumbing through the Handbook trying to point out stuff I alread have and decide what to do when, like many of you I saw the Beastclaw Raider section.  Having always been a big fan of the Stonehorn and  Hunter Models I thought why not, I only

Knight Questor

I decided to paint my AOS Stormcast Eternals in the Hammers of Sigmar colour scheme, so obviously my Knight Questor got this treatment as well. Following the Warhammer TV tutorial on painting Stormcasts, I painted his gold armour first and I really enjoyed it! But then came the cape... The blue parts went fine, but I had problems with the white because I was out of Celestra Grey. I had a few problems with getting an even coat, but eventually I got there. I finished the armour with a gloss varnis

Sylvaneth and Duardin Foil the Path of Rot (Again)

I was able to get a nice weeknight game in with my buddy @Sunchaser yesterday at Odyssey Games in Scottsdale, AZ. I still am holding at about 1000 points, having failed to assemble my Chaos Warshrine this week while editing my tablerop RPG podcast, Full Metal RPG. There were an odd number of players so @Sunchaser (Sylvaneth) got funneled into another 3 player battle royale with me (MoN Chaos) and Sam, (Duardin). We were battling for control of an artefact in the center of the board and

Madboy Gurrbog rises!

Deep from within the caves of Ghur, an oddboy of exponential power emerges from the shadows. Dedicating his service to Gordrakk, Gurrbog fortells a great destiny to Gordrakk and the Blakkmoonz Warclan. One of power, fear, and annihilation.  Madboy Gurrbog is more than just a Weirdnob, he is an absolute madboy!

Gryph Hound

I absolutely adore this little guy! He was fun and very easy to paint. I went for a more traditional look rather than the weird and amazing colour combos you sometimes find for Gryph Hounds. I mostly used drybrushing combined with washes on him. It only took about 20 minutes to get him completely done.

Doomseeker

The second hero I painted was the Doomseeker. I wanted the orange tones to return all over the miniature so I painted his beard, hair, runes and the fire in his weapon all in a similar fashion. I also use my Silver Tower models in AOS, so I give them the same lava-themed base as the rest of my collection. For the Doomseeker this works really well. I'm happy about the way he turned out. He's really bright and stands out on a battlefield.
