Lord of Maggoth Lords

  1. 1. I have a Maggoth Lord kit on the way in the mail. Which Lord is the Flithiest?

    • Bloab Rotspawned
    • Morbidex Twiceborn
    • Orghotts Daemonspew
  2. 2. Which Maggoth Lord has powers that are most fun to play in a chill list?

    • Bloab Rotspawned
      0
    • Morbidex Twiceborn
    • Orghotts Daemonspew

I colored outside the lines a little bit with my commitment to buy only one model per paycheck.

What can I say? I found a great deal on eBay and "saved" a few bucks?

Anyway, no one cares about that. A Maggoth Lord is a big investment and I really only have theories about how each one plays. I put together a survey so you can weigh in which Lord is the best. Two categories, one filth, one hobby.

Let me know what you think.

Personally, I have Bloab, because I love insects and spiders and stuff. He is pretty much a support character, I bang him in the middle of a block of gors and ungors and just stomp across the field with spider familiars behind. He messes with other casters, can get a -1 to hit on everything coming your way and can shoot down something particularly nasty if needed. A bit of a jack of all trades, useful, but not amazing at any one thing, but he's my favourite model of the three for sure.

Now something I worked out today, is how ridiculous Morbidex is, in matched play.

His ability to reinforce a unit of Nurglings by d3 bases every hero phase doesn't cost reinforcement points, as he is adding to a unit. With Nurglings being only 80 points for 3 bases, it's a no brainer. Free models in your army is always good. If I didn't already have loads of hobby to do/broke, I'd be picking that up in a heartbeat. I've suffered too much at the hands of death players to realise how useful an ability that is.

I've been trying to use Morbidex in this way for a few games now, but found the Nurglings have either been wiped out entirely or they get separated by >7" due to Morbidex's speed (and the frequent need to use it). Maybe it'll come off next game ?

I think all 3 Maggoth Lords add value to a Rotbringers force in different ways, which leads to the completely logical conclusion to take all 3!

I like Morbidex the most, his Nurglings ability is fun and add an element for your army. He's actually a little bit of a beast in combat to.

If you cant decide though and don't want to pick up all three and paint them up you can do as I did. I magnetized the torso and the legs so I can swap torso for all the characters. Sure the maggot itself will look the same but it makes it much easier to try them all out without having to buy and paint up more models.
