The Rumour Thread

I have some doubt about the Darkoath as well, it doesn’t seem like the kind of thing that would fit in line with what they’ve been doing in new armies.  I suppose the other possibility is they borrowed all the Herald models from future projects, not necessarily from future armies, and the warqueen is from a new specialist/boxed game, like a new Warhammer quest (much like the Darkoth chieftain..)

Darkoath seems very much like an Age of Sigmar version of the Norse Marauders from the old world.  It strikes me as very fitting direction for the non-Everchosen Slaves of Darkness.

There has not been much Darkoath yet, but what there is feels very much like it is borrowing hard from Frank Frazetta and Conan - which I think is great and fits the setting very well.

Also, that picture showing Darkoath lookalike barbarians fighting Bloodbounds from the very first AOS book ;)

Did anybody mention this? I don't think I saw it in this thread..

Likewise, your new games are going to need some terrain – and the new double-height Azyrite Ruins should be perfect for recreating the ruined cities of the Age of Myth. Like their shorter counterparts, these can be built without glue – so even if you’re new, you’ll be able to put together thematic battlefields with ease – no more bold excursions to the mysterious “realm of the kitchen table with some books on”. @Kaleb Daark yeah it's strange :

The Shadespire-like scenic bases SCE are too many to be a Shadespire war band (also they do not look like the card artworks from Adepticon) :

3 Sacrosanct Judicators, 1 Gryph-Hound, 1 Ballista, 2 servants, and 1 Lady Wizcast on a celestial lion lizard (as shown above the apparently normal 3-models celestial lion lizard SCE do not have scenic bases).

On the other hand the Nighthaunt seems to only have 4 models with scenic bases (4 Banshees).

EDIT : oh no I saw 2 more, at least 2 new Wrait on steeds, with Scenic bases. Really intriguing !

I guess this will be another, smaller starter kit (a mix of Know Now Fear and Exclusive Plague Brethren maybe ?)

Or maybe  new bases boxes, round and oval, sigmar ruins and cemetery ?

Shadespire is not the only place you get scenic bases.  While they don’t always make them, there are a number of cases where they have.  For example, a bunch of the big Deepkin models have scenic underwater coral reef bases.  Both versions of Morathi have a scenic base.

Also they have made scenic bases in starter sets before.  Some of th models from the Battle For Skulls Pass starter set years ago had scenic bases.  The Troll in that box had his own scenic base and so did the Spider Riders - who had a webbed-forest sculpted on their cavalry bases.  It works well with push-fit mono-pose models as can be seen with Shadespire also.

Nice but why does it always have to be ruins. For almost as long as I can remember 80-90% of the official scenery for AOS, warhammer fantasy or 40 has been ruins more or less similar to these. It’s a nice design but as always the first thing we are gonna se from displays and in WD is complete buildings made from many combined sets of these and other ruins. Why not just make some more undamaged structures? Or at the very least bring back the old ones (Witchfate tor, that massion and the tower)? So very hard and extremely expensive to build cities of the mortal realms when all the scenery portray rubble.

New starter is the art shown earlier

Congratulations on proving all the nay-Sayers that they are wrong ;)

Taking the opportunity, can I ask if you have had any glimpse of information on new grot and chaos factions? Both SCE and Nighthount are correlated with Malign Portents Harbringers. In case of SCE war machine just screams "set me up close to the harbringer". Nighthount, well they do all look like best buddies with knight of shrouds.

Can we expect new Conan like Chaos followers led by Warqueen and some grots which fell in love with some fungi and squigs.

Not asking for your source, as its impolite, but any nod of approval will be enough to wet our appetites ;)

Thanks in advance!

On the other field, has anyone seen that there were no news on Rogue Trader at the Warhammer Fest? Or am I wrong here...

Are you sure ?

Looking at the pictures on Facebook, War of Sigmar and here, and the WHTV trailer, I'm pretty sure regarding the Lion that only the Lady with some crystal in her hand has a scenic base... (there also is a lady in the 3 models lion drake unit but without the crystal, in a different pose).

The lady with her arms out wide and a crystal in her hand was displayed as a knight exelcsior and a scenic base but also displayed as a hallowed knight without one

Hello there guys! Long time reading this post, fresh comment in light of recent events. :) These are awesome times to be an AOS player! Have a question for @LLV: are the new flying mounts you mentioned previously coming with the new wave of SCE this June, or maybe at some other date? Additionally any chance we might see Flying Gryph Chargers as illustrated on the dice box?

Sigmar's gotta eat, and he loves hot wings. Which is why they are all wingless now.

You make a fair point -- "intact" scenery would be nice to see. I can't see it happening (full-on uninformed opinion here!) as battlefields don't tend to leave buildings intact. So while buildings may be undamaged at the start of a battle, that condition won't last very long. So I expect that the designers try to show that battle-damaged condition of buildings. Plus, they get to flex their artistic muscles differently that way.

This Lady (on foot) is probably from the starter set, and the KE version's base isn't as detailed as the other scenic bases shown, it's probably just a small conversion (notably, the leafs are from an existing basic kit). Also the official paint scheme has her without a scenic base.

Am I right in saying this Stormcast artillery piece is the first AoS war machine release to have a separate crew?

Previous examples (rereleases) like Plague claw and Skullcannon have the crew built in to the actual main model.  Is having separate crew going to be a good thing for the game?  Gives me hope we might see the return of things like Aelven bolt throwers.

So one bolthrower with a sculpted base and one without, the bolt thrower with the sculpted base has a different shield as well.

Still don't think the one with the sculpted base will be shadespire, but maybe a diffrent kit? Or a new base kit?

The guys with bows do look like a Shadespire warband, poses are more dynamic than the regular ones.Qi27J7FlZHM.jpg.c857ca096e846fbec652c1a39ee749db.jpgWHfestLiveBlog-AoSProduct8jt-1.jpg.fff9298a33e53528dbf04052ee44d965.jpgltnpBrcPCzI.jpg.d58018e180ad50c94d89dea2e665b37a.jpg
