The Rumour Thread

That change would be a great thing but at the same time many units' minimum size and rules should be revaluate.

Someone said the minimum size should be the models you get in a box (like Soulblight skeletons should be 20 instead of 10) and I like that idea. It's simple and effective.

That might work for Soulblight Skeletons but not for Mortek Guard. Being forced to play 260 point Battleline at minimum feels too restrictive to me.

I agree that some armies would be in a weird spot. I was thinking about SoB Mancrushers who would be at miminum at 2 and not at 1..and then at 4 instead of 2 with one reinforcement point. Or Dryads for Sylvaneth being in a unit of 16 by the box.

Now you put it like that maybe it should be made case by case for each battleline I guess.

At the same time I like the idea that Lumineths swordmasters, Blood knights, Melusai, being at base 5 feel truly elite.

It will make them, without being reinforced, a support to your battleline or Heroes/Monsters. If you're more into making them your anvil/hammer then you must commit some ressources to make them your big unit and at the same time they became the number one target of your opponent.

But that's just my view if that rumor is true about reinforcement. Anyway it will make a major impact.

So, more rumors arrived about the further development of AoS in the next three years.

New factions:
Dawnbringer Crusade - Sigmar Cities Soft Reboot Coming Early 2022
Umbranet - late 2022
Chaos Dwarves - early 2023, at the end of the campaign, 3rd editions will build a huge warp cannon to "All Azir to dust"

The first updated battlefields of the third edition will be Chaos Beasts, Maggotkins, Glumspeit Gitz and Ogora

There will be a glumspite battlebox versus the beasts of chaos, in which there will be a new skuttleboss on a spider, spider riders and rockgats against new dumblings, jaberslits and bulgors
(That is, from the side of the goblins, only a new boss on the spider, from the side of the beasts of chaos, everything is new)

They also promise a new SK Ogorov with gluttons, lead belchers, iron blaster and a plastic slot

Certainly sounds promising, but what‘s the source for these?

I think it will probably just be about the Great Gnashtoof.

This all sounds like kind of safe speculation, but I am surprised that there is nothing about Sylvaneth or Dwarves in there. I guess the first few battletome updates will give us some evidence as to whether or not this is credible.

The bit in that chan rumour that stands out is how the new 40k Thousand Sons HQ is a "really exalted sorceror". Seems weird considering we have the point values and we know this new character, the 'Infernal Master', is cheaper than a regular Exalted Sorceror and tbh sounds more like some sort of specialist wizard (daemon engines?) or semi-lieutenant kind of dude. That's not a slam dunk against the whole thing given this could be just a casual mention based on how the model looks or whatever but it's odd.

The rest looks like a mix of safe speculation/wishlisting and some curveballs, so who knows.

This bunch of rumors is unfortunately probably untrue. The TS vs. GK for 40k will only be accompanied by codices with just one character for each army (sorcerer from TS and a new Castellan Crowe for GK). So I imagine the rest of the speculation is bs too.

Assume anything that comes solely from 4chan is wrong; it's where the 'Fellwater Morruks' rumour came from, after all.

As for the reinforcement points rumours from that whatsapp group, it's worth noting that this tallies with something the AoS List Labs chap said at the end of one of his later videos - he mentioned there would be limitations on unit sizes etc that would make it harder to have multiple maxed out unit sizes, and while he didn't give the specifics, this tracks pretty solidly onto how we're hearing reinforcement points will work.

I got reminded of the fact that some 4chan - rumour predicted "Skeleton Ogor Infantry" before OBR were revealed. It's always fun to see what becomes reality and what is wishlisting. But these snippets are exciting nonetheless. The Chaos Duardin super Cannon sounds very fitting for AoS style Mayhem. Bring it on! 😀

Given the ruddy great chimera on the cover of the new corebook, I'm kinda assuming it'll be that.

If true this sounds very good for AOS and adding new Factions we knew were coming is a good sign that 3.0 will be about updating existing Factions, case in point if those BOC models are all new I'll be over the moon for their players and the new Scuttleboss will eventually be released separately so again amazing!!

The SC Ogors has me most excited because it could be like the SC STD with all new poses for the models, basically if none of the Mawtribes models are updated in the SC I'll be very disappointed as for the Era of the Beast, not updating the Destruction Factions would be an immense shame.

Though that Plastic Slot is interesting...what could that be?

I hope that 3.0 focuses more on bulking up and updating armies than on new armies. By all means give us those Shadow Aelves GW has been hiding for ages and such, but I think its high time Skaven got updated to modern materials; that Fyreslayers got more than a handful of models etc.... Seeing Destruction get a lions share of updates at the start is great, they deserve and need it the most of any Grand Alliance right now. I hope an update to the core Orruks is going to be fairly fast out of the door which would then leave Destruction in a very good place with fully updated, fully modern forces and just needing a few new updated battletomes to bring things like Gargants and Gloomspite into the 3.0 system

2.0 was a clean up so I hope 3.0 is a polish up

I hope they lower the rate of new armies and focus more on updating existing ones. "Remakes" like what Soulblight Gravelords was to Legions of Nagash (regardless of it not keeping everything from that army) or what Dawnbringer Crusades could be to Cities of Sigmar are fine, but we've already got such a wide variety of armies and so many of them have lots of old models or don't have a single playable named character (aside from Underworlds and stuff like that), I'd be excited for Chaos Dwarfs and I'm sure plenty of people want Malerion's shadow aelves but I'm hoping their release doesn't come before a good, sizable bunch of new things for the armies that need it the most right now.

I am disappointed with what the wood elves have been turned into, but also a fan of dark elves, I believe that the next army should still be Umbranet, in fact, this is a last-god who does not have an army in the AoS

What everybody seems to miss is that this smells like a remake of the human range.

Phil Kelly mentioned that this edition is all about the simple mortals who are trying to survive.

There‘s been a rather recent Rumour about new humans as well

I think some of us would prefer Cities to stay like the alliance of mortal races it is now, not that we're missing hints that new human kits are coming. I've had the feeling they might turn Cities into a human-focus after Cursed City release and we saw "Order of Azyr" as a keyword, but I'd still like regular duardin and elves along with the humies

Not sure if mentioned already by other members, i visited my FLGS today to pick up some of the previous preorders and they told me they will be taking preorders from customers next week for the Dominion set, so it is coming soon.

do FLGS have a 'separate' stock of Dominion to facilitate preorders? or can they get swiped by scalpers same as us?

If we think about what armies need updates, there's two ways of thinking about. Some armies lack options, some armies have outdated or resin sculpts. No army falls into both camps. In terms of lacking options the Fyreslayers clearly win that one. I don't think any other army is really in dire straits in that regard. There's an argument for Ironjawz and Bonesplittas but unfortunately I'm not sure Gw sees it that way. Idk just need a rebalance to make Namarti and Lotann worthwhile.

In terms of old sculpts Seraphon, Skaven, Mawtribes and Fec are top of the pile. They are all popular armies. It wouldn't surprise me if they all got attention.

As for new stuff, Malerion and Tyrion are clearly still missing and need to be brought into the fiction at least. A human faction is missing. Devoted of Sigmar/ Dawnbreakers would absolutely fit the bill. Throw in the new chaos dwarves band you have almost three years of releases.
