  1. I just find it odd with things like stormcast. You have a flagship range, it sells well, it seems rather popular (selling well and actually being brought for painting and gaming are separate things- it's easy to sell well when almost every box contains stormcast.) Yet they cram everything in to one battletome. Yet other battletomes have very few options, seem like they would be very niche (things like DoK, KO, FS) and get a battletome to themselves. I would have thought we would have gotten a stormcast vanilla battletome (like the 'space marine' codex) then a whole bunch of other smaller battletomes covering the more unique chambers (your 'blood angel' & 'space wolves' codexs, if you will) I know stormcast are not organised like space marines directly, which makes my analogy a little off, but I do still find it strange. I love the KO and DoK, but they do feel more like 'warbands' or offshots off a larger collective army. (narratively speaking) As for realmslayer, that art is fantastic! It's great to see them put so much effort into this- from the casting, the length of the audio, the boxset itself, everything is just fantastic. If they put this much effort into all the narrative going forward it will be a great time for fantasy as whole, not just AoS the game. Just having art on the cds alone, its such a small detail but makes for a much more attractive product. Feels a lot less clinical, which is something I feel games workshop has become recently. Everything looks the same and had a very cold, manufactured feel to it.
  2. If they follow last years schedule, I'd expect to see the Slaanesh box set this side of christmas, with Slaanesh getting a full released and battletome just after the new year. It would match the blight war and following nurgle release exactly.
  3. I don't have any interest in blood bowl at all, the only models I have brought for it have been conversion parts for AoS. Those undead models are fantastic, especially the zombies, I really like the lankiness of them, the are a vast improvement on the older kit (which is well over due a remake, I know there are older kits but those kits are pretty awful compared to todays stuff!) Sadly, I just dont see a use for the rest of the kit, the skellys and big guy on the bottom row have too much of a 'blood bowl pose' to be of any use for AoS. They look too 'fast' and I prefer the slow and lumbering looking undead. Shame as I'd love to grab a few of those zombies, but will be far to expensive to have so many left over parts.
  4. Haha, yes, I'm surprised they are not more popular, they still fit in the game wonderful and it would be great too (finally) see a pump wagon made in a plastic kit with tons of customisation, I'm surprised not more people are asking for them! I still have another 20 or so bases left to paint up! I finished a river troll for my skirmish warband just before armies on parade a couple of weeks ago, but sadly things got in the way of entering, but I do gain another bunch of fully painted models, so it's not like it was wasted time! My warband is not far off having a couple of completed, AoS sized units! I might have to make that final push to finish off another bunch of grots! I was pleased to finally paint the troll up though, he was brought, built and given a base about 20 years ago now and has sadly sat in his unfinished state since that day. I adore his snotling chum, who is clearly having a good laugh at 'the one that got away', but he needs to watch out, as laughing at a troll too much can leave you looking like lunch! Also finished off a not very fancy or difficulty conversion of a mountain Grot and another base of snotlings. The mountain grot just needs to be pinned to the base as he's still on blutac (I was toying with doing a different basing style for the mountain grots, but decided against it as I want to be able to mix and match between them seamlessly) I will probably go back and add another couple of layers of water effects to the trolls base, quite a bit of it managed to escape through a pin hole gap that formed after pouring. It looks ok, but one side it far higher than the other. I brought some much better tape and intend to at least even the level of the water out.
  5. Yes please! I have some old chaos warriors done in dark green and I really need to get around to doing some of the more modern releases I've picked up, I'd love to add some pink in there! As a mostly Nurgle and Grot painter I don't get enough chances to paint pinks and purples!
  6. You can blame Tolkien's dwarves and their book of mazarbul for this.
  7. None of those boxes are being replaced. They were a temporary release to 'promote' the allies rules. They were a one time deal, once they were gone that was it. Some stores still stock them as not all of them were as popular as others. My own local still has the spiderfang one, but its on last chance to buy. They ran out of the blood coven one almost instantly.
  8. A wip painting log of things I'm working on for my narrative skirmish campaign. I've not had the time to do any more battle reports for it, but have still managed to work on several items (albeit rather slowly) for games we have planned later on. A handful of these are older photos from my instagram, but I have a ton of new stuff I'm working on, but wanted to keep a record of everything I paint for narrative as a permanent record. My battle report(s) can be found here: -------------------------------------------- The Winter Islands: Our narrative campaign is set on a group of islands that are all but cut off from the realms by huge oceans on all sides. Though many attempts to cross and navigate this have been made, none have ever succeeded, and up to the end of the realm gate war, not only left these islands cut off from the realms but also making the islands location in the realms unknown. Since the end of the realm gate wars however, Kharadron sky pirates have established several working gates, spread across the islands, finally allowing travel between the main realms and the islands. The islands hold many connections to the world-that-was, returning many old ideas and bringing them into the realms, not all of which are welcomed. Skagrot's Bad moon Grots: With the Orruks inability to prosper on the islands, the grot population exploded very quickly (the biggest threat to grots of course are being eaten, beaten or misplaced by orcs!) and allowed them to advance far quicker than their main realm counterparts. This has lead to two very distinct tribes being able to seize huge areas of control on the islands. The mountain and bad land Grots merged and became experts in the cog technology (as employed by the Empires freeguild engineers in their huge walking cities) and breeders of gargantuan wolves, whereas the moonclan grots advanced in mycology and the breeding of squigs. Skagrot of the Bad moon clan, foresaw a future of green- but only if he could join the two tribes under one banner. With the combined forces of Bad moon and Mek Grots, the resulting wave of green could sweep over the islands and onwards to the realms, cleansing them of the taint of the filthy thin skins, the humans. Though Skagrot has the command of many of the Mek grots and their wolf riders, he must first fight many wars before he is proven himself capable to take full control of the Mekanikan grots and with out their support he has no hope of over throwing the controlling bad moon shamans.
  9. fantastic stuff! Nice to see some dungeon action with newer minis.
  10. wow, fantastic stuff. Those fyreslayers are superb. I love the green moon glow effect on the skeletons!
  11. @Infernalslayer Most of the legends stuff has points in the compendium lists in the original GHB. Worth picking up as it has a lot of the original names characters and units in there and should other models be moved over to legends status then they will already be in there. Always good as it will be the only source of Bretonnians and tomb king points. Should be easy enough to find a copy, as a common misconception is that the book is now useless so people will let it go for cheap.
  12. I think someone at GW leak department has been rewatching LOST, it defiantly had a station orientation vibe going on. Looks almost 3D places, but I don't remember where I keep mine so I can't check it.
  13. Love that grot hero. I've gone from- will probably buy one set for the squig and troll, to will buy 3-4 sets minimum! He will make for a great base for all sorts of heroes for my skirmish stuff! Would prefer to not buy into shadespire stuff, I'm not really keen on it as a game- the components are a waste for me and it adds sales to shadespire that I would rather see go towards AoS directly. The scenery is nice and surprisingly would suit my current AoS table, so I could almost be tempted to get a set as I need a bit more scatter for skirmish for our undead games.
  14. I asked in my local, as I was interested in buying all of them if they are replaced them to this new format, but was told it was unlikely as they still had stock of the old ones and wouldn't replace an item that was technically still current/in date. We would only see new versions as and when new they get new battletomes (like stormcast did) Keep in mind that this is my local store and they know only what they are told from HO, or what is given as the current company line.
  15. There seems to be a whole host of new legends books upcoming next year. If they are doing it to coincide with releases then skaven are defiantly hinted at. Personally I dont think they line up with new releases (Thought the Nagash one was and the upcoming Gotrek one will do, as gotrek gets his new AoS drama) The Black Plague Warlords of Karak Eight peaks Knights of the Empire Warriors of the Chaos Wastes Gotrek & Felix Vol2 I had been hoping to see Skarsnik get one of these, but I don't think there were many, if any other goblin books. So I doubt they will do one, as all the legends books so far have been two or three collected novels minimum. So hope that Skarsnik gets a made to order or limited run when new grots come.
  16. I love this model, but I do agree about how busy the model is. I'm going to get pretty bored of mushrooms on everything very quickly. I think it works well for this one, I can imagine him slumbering in a cave for so long that they do start to grow on him, only rousing for grub. But on every night goblin model? It's going to get old very quickly, as well as seeing so many armies that are going to be painted in a hippies wardrobe assortment of colours. Thankfully we still have the old night goblins plastics which will probably still make for a bulk of the troops. Plus these mushrooms look easier to chop off and hide unlike the shaman. Mushrooms are clearly going to be the new skulls then.
  17. Has there actually been anything from GW about moonclan, even the smallest hint? Because so far all I've seen is people saying they want moonclan/grots to be next, then people repeating it as a rumour. Also people putting up fake Grot battletomes and getting people excited over nothing. The closest thing to a hint I've seen from GW is one of the rumour engine pictures, and even then people are only guessing that is was grot related. (I personally didn't see the resemblance)
  18. As much fun wishlisting is, this thread is becoming nothing but wishlisting. Maybe a wishlist thread should be opened and people can have away with their crazy wants and needs. This thread needs to go silent till new rumours come around.
  19. That is really cool, what a fantastic force! I really like the seahorses and that accordion is brilliant!
  20. Fantastic stuff! I like how colourful they are, even though the main colours are very natural and dingy!
