  1. Hi Folks, the new campaign system Firestorm for AoS is in the way and with it new allegiance abilities. The Anvilguard's Implacable March is the one I found most interesting. Anvilgard armies are made up of some of the hardier, more ruthless armies of Order, drawing from the Stormcast Eternals, Free Peoples, Devoted of Sigmar, Dispossessed, Darkling Covens, Scourge Privateers and Order Serpentis. Very exciting is the Battalion of the Scourge Privateers the "Realm Reavers". Here is a example army list: Allegiance: Anvilguard Leaders Black Ark Fleetmaster (40) Battleline 20 x Black Ark Corsairs (160) - Vicious Blades & Wicked Cutlasses - Scourge Privateers Battleline 20 x Black Ark Corsairs (160) - Vicious Blades & Repeater Handbows - Scourge Privateers Battleline 2 x Scourgerunner Chariots (200) - Scourge Privateers Battleline 10 x Drakespawn Knights (320) - Order Serpentis Battleline Behemoths Kharibdyss (180) Battalions Realm Reavers (180) Total: 1240/2000 Sadly we cant fit the Realm Reavers in a Allied Detachement, but some fast Drakespawn Knights made it in. The battalion rule says: A Black Ark Fleetmaster, 2 Black Ark Corsairs units, an unit of Scourgerunner Chariots and a Kharibdiss. Feared Taskmaster: In your hero phase a battalion unit within 8" of the Fleetmaster can do one of the following; move as if it were the movement phase (not run), shoot as if it were the shooting phase, charge as if it were the charge phase, or if there are any enemy units within 3" pile in and attack as if were the combat phase. Capture That Beast!: Re-roll wound rolls of 1 against Monsters. ...During our hero phase the enemy is forced to move 6" away from us (on a roll of 5+ that means 1/3 of the enemy units engaged are affected), but at the same time the Feared Taskmaster lets the Realm Reavers charge after the enemy. We cant do that immediately after the 6" move, but it can be used to encircle the enemy. Things get interesting with flying Units like dragons though, which can encricle the enemy easier. Whats your thoughts and armylists with the Anvilguard allegiance? Kaleun -> some teleporting Stormcast might be brutal in a Anvilguard armylist
  2. Hi all, creating one thread to post finished minis, mainly working on Ad Mech for Kill Team at the minute but have finished a couple of fantasy minis lately (but purchased long ago!). Intend to start painting Shadespire warbands when finished with the Ad Mech, might build up a small, regular AoS force all going well! Finally finished the Necromancer, carrying the Penguin Classic Book of the Dead Flowers in skeletons month may be taken out though, are they a bit gaudy? Old Bretonnian Damsel, first of a small, shameful pile of 2004 era Bretonnians to be finished... sometime Cheers for looking, and any advise/critique appreciated!
  3. Hi, this will be a big one (actually like most of my projects). Here I have a project that combines most of the aelf factions. Some of this stuff was actually in blogs before. Here are the actual armylists, structures as the Aelfengroups and subgroups Frostaelfs Fyreaelfs Shadowaelfs Not definied aelfen groups Next will be the stuff I already posted in blogs. Fanmade Battletomes latest release: Brotherhood of Korhil current Version
  4. This thread is for anyone that what to discuss anything related to the Scourge Privateers. And because I think the Scourge Privateers are the next aelf release after the Daughters of Khaine.
  5. Hi all. First time poster here so I apologize if this should be within the Deepkin discussion thread itself. Essentially I currently own and am painting my way through 1620 points of Deepkin and have 380 left until I can play a 2K game. I understand that the Deepkin have a bunch of cool large options I could go for, but I do like the idea of adding some allies. I have managed to get my hands on the old Lokhir Fellheart model so I was thinking maybe Lokhir with 20 Corsairs and a War Hydra, and then I realized that the Kharibdyss is the Scourge Privateer monster, not the hydra. Looking at the warscrolls though, the hydra is not only better looking but sounds much more tanky. On the other hand back in WHF I used to play High Elves but I never actually bought a dragon. After playing some total war recently the idea of just getting a big old mage on a dragon isn’t unappealing... Just as a loremaster and some swordmasters are pretty appealing. In short; I understand it’s best to go without allies but, if I were to go for some allies, which units or armies tend to compliment the Deepkin? (for reference I am a new player. My Deepkin consist of the battleforce and Start Collecting with one box of thralls, so I’ll print it below) 1620 Deepkin: [Heroes] Akhelian King (General) - 240 Isharann Tidecaster - 100 Lotann - 100 Isharann Soulrender - 100 [Battlelines] 30 x Namarti Thralls - 360 3 x Morrsarr - 160 3 x Ishlaen - 140 [Other] 2 x Allopexes 10 x Namarti Reavers Thanks for reading!
  6. Welcome to the remaining 5 collectors of the 'Druchii', those of us who still like our aelves as marauding pirates of the Mortal Realms, dragon riding Knights and, for what it's worth, shadowy assassins and black-clad riders. Rather than individual threads for these factions, I think we might benefit from discussing them as a group of factions. With AoS2 giving us realm artefacts and endless spells, and with the rise of allies such as the Idoneth Deepkin, Daughters of Khaine (and Stormcast I guess!), I still feel these aelves have a place in the world. Links to past or relevant threads: Let's Chat Order Serpentis Let's Chat Scourge Privateers Let's Chat Shadowblades AoS 2 - Daughters of Khaine AoS 2 - Idoneth Deepkin AoS 2 - Darkling Covens Free Cities (see also - Let's Chat: Anvilgard) AoS 2 - Stormcast Eternals I'll start with my ideas, but I'm not an experienced gamer at all, however I am a trier! I think Order Serpentis are probably the strongest of the smaller factions. I'm thinking you build strong lists up to 1500 or 1600 points leaving room to ally in and take endless spells. It's probably worth taking the battalion and with points drops to all units bar the dragon, we have a bit more flexibility. Most of my lists revolve around taking 2 dragons and 2 hydras, however, sacrificing one of them for a behemoth ally might be useful. For example, the new points could allow for a block of 20 Corsairs with a Fleetmaster and then a Kharibdyss with a Fleetmaster for 400 points. I may be wrong, but the Fleetmasters could both use their command abilities to have their units rerolls to hit. How this might help with Anvilgard allegiance abilities is up for discussion too. I've also put thought to use of the Chronomatic Cogs, though that would mean allying in a Medusa, Tidecaster or Sorceress. This could help to get the Drakespawn into combat sooner, getting off their charges for the +1 to wounds. There is of course the awesome Khinerai and Melusai, both capable of adding something missing. I've also been lovingly looking at my Bolt Throwers, who I will try to convince anyone who listens that they're actually Stormcast Ballista! They will have plenty of gold on... Not sure on the Realm artefacts so far, but something to give more Mortal Wounds would really be useful, particularly if you have a battalion to give an extra artefact to both dragons. Finally, not sure about using the Dark Riders. I think the Assassins could have value, dropped by fast moving dragons somewhere with a particular artefact but it's quite one shot I guess. Anyone else excited to see their older armies see a new lease of life? What ideas can we rustle up that let's us play fun games, even if we are cast off the table and mortally wounded perpetually?
  7. In my first hobby post of the blog I'd like to show the origins of my longest running project, my pirate themed Anvilgard Allegiance list. I was given an unopened box of Black Ark Corsairs almost 2 years ago, and from there I was interested in the idea. The aesthetic was something I really liked, but I was disheartened by the rules available (Allies were not yet a thing and the Free City rules were but a glint in GW's eye) so I shelved them, taking them out only occasionaly as a palette cleanser. Over time I acquired more models for this army, always second hand and pre painted, old and forgotten models put aside during the rollout of Age of Sigmar. I hoarded these away an told myself I would get to it, eventually. I dedicated my time largely to painting my Skaven Pestilens force, and took them to every tournament. At first I got utterly steamrolled, by good players with better armies. But over time I learned how to make the force work, I started to catch people off guard, play objectively and even win games. And I thought to myself "if I can win with this goofy army, surely I can make a mixed order pirate list work". So I promptly filled a bucket of detol and dumped half a hundred models straight into it. Some were caked thick with paint by inexperienced painters, some were simply a scheme i didnt like or want to paint over the top of. Some made it through the stripping process in tact, others went to the surgery table to be modified with spare bits from other dark elf kits to become servicable again. Here's a look at a few being drained of their detol before some light scrubbing. Not pretty, but they would be eventually. Check back next time to see what they would go on to be, more pictures below.
  8. Hello Everyone, After a long hiatus from the Fantasy side of the hobby (I still play 40k quite a bit) I decided to dip my toes into 'Age of Sigmar' by getting into a Skirmish campaign with some players from my area. Seeing as I end up here every other time I google something related to AoS/Skirmish, I thought it would be a good idea to register and have a better look around. For the upcoming Skirmish campaign I'll be using and updating parts of my Dark Elf collection as they have been my go-to army for as long as I can remember, but I might branch out into other factions at a later time. However most of my fantasy miniatures took quite a beating over the years; they need repairs, a fresh coat of paint, and round bases. I figured I would start a little plog on TGA to keep myself on track and maybe get some C&C. Since I'll be working on my miniatures anyway I decided to try a new colour scheme, variety being the spice of life and all. So I did up a pair of Reaper Crewmembers as a test. Now the picure isn't very high quality, but it should get the general idea across. I quite like the green armour myself, but I'm not sure on the two different colours of "cloth". A couple of dreadspears will be getting a similar treatment over the weekend and I might try some different coloured robes on them to see. But any suggestions are more than welcome.
  9. Hi, The Consummate Commander command trait from the Stormcast Eternals battletomb reads: - If I took a unit of 40 Black Arc Corsairs and a Fleetmaster as Allies, could I use the above trait on the Fleetmaster? Allowing him to use his command ability At Them You Curs to reroll failed hits? It does not state it has to be a Stormcast Hero. Other command traits do specifically state Stormcast Units. The Generals handbook does reads: - Not sure if that is a clear answer to my question or not Cheers Andrew
  10. Just making a thread where people can predict the rest of the years releases, and suggest the units they expect to come with them. Personally, with us being nearly halfway through the year, I think we can expect to see three more decent AOS releases. Based on rumours and my own speculation, plus the little teases we've had so far, I think these would be: - Nurgle (Daemons, Mortals and new stuff) - Deathrattle (Expanded faction) - Dark Aelves Nurgle The Nurgle equivalent of Blades of Khorne/Disciples of Tzeentch, this would include a new Battletome as well as a big release of new units. This would also coincide with a lot of 40K Nurgle stuff as well. It would collect Nurgle Daemons, Rotbringers as well as the new stuff. My prediction for units to be released would be: Great Unclean One/Bolathrax kit. Bolathrax was heavily featured in the Ghyran campaign so I expect him to be the named GUO variant. The GUO would have a few weapon options as well, sword/flail etc. Nurgle Marauders kit. The Bloodreavers/Kairic Acolytes equivalent. Probably tougher than the other gods Marauders, what with this being Nurgle and all. I imagine them to be almost zombies, like the state between Mortal and Zombie. Or a new Zombie kit would also work. Nurgle Warriors kit. The Blood Warriors/Tzaangors equivalent. Again, pushing the toughness motif to separate them from the other gods. Pestigors would be an amazing option. Nurgle Mage. Nurgle Hero. Nurgle Cavalry. These would be smaller versions of the Maggoth riders, or something similar. Perhaps even giant slugs. This, combined with the current Nurgle stuff, would make an awesome Nurgle release I think. Deathrattle This would go a long way to pleasing many Death players and it it coincides with the Shadespire release, it would be a great way to further the faction. We know there will at least be a new Skeleton kit coming out, so I think there is good odds this gets released. What I expect for this release is: Arkhan to gain the Deathrattle keyword and be included in the Battletome. This makes too much sense not to happen. Sepulchral Guard. Obviously these have been seen. I think they're going to be an Elite infantry unit, better than the average Skeletons. Maybe even 2 wounds a piece. Ranged Units. Skelton Archers would be a welcome boon to this faction. A new Bone Giant unit. Less Egyptian vibe and more a literal Skeletal Giant. Some form of catapult/chariot/other warmachine. A Skeleton Mage. This would really amount to only a small release, but it would sell like crazy to the starving Death players. Dark Aelves With rumours persisting that Dark Aelves are getting a release, and it will be a Chthulu inspired release at that, I believe we will see a Scourge Privateers Battletome. This would infuse the current range of Privateers models, but add even more seafairing units. Pirate inspired light infantry. Similar to Harelquins, these would be dynamic and agile units, capering around wielding cutlasses and the like. Musketeers. Shooting units with Flintlock pistols and other old school armaments. Hero unit. Mage unit. Cavalry. These would be sea monster/Chthonic creatures. A large monster/centrepiece unit. Perhaps a squid like creature. This would be fairly unique, and offer great customisation. So yeah, thats my predictions for the year. Three more Battletomes with new Models.
  11. Hey there! I am starting a new army and since this will be a conversion heavy project I thought I could make a blog to share it. Hope you find it interesting! We could call this army "scourge privateers re-imagined", or Realm Ravagers as I am calling them. An elf-pirate army based on corsairs and 40k dark-elf aesthetics… heroes, infantry, sea monsters, sailboats all still to come! Let me start sharing the first heroes I am working on.
  12. Maybe this belongs in Order instead. I dunno, if it's wrong, move me. Anyway, with the recent rumor engine, Shadows over Hammerhal, and people talking Wanderers, I got curious about Scourge Privateers. Where can I find background information on them in the Age of Sigmar? Is there anything out besides what is in the Hammerhal stuff?
  13. Here's my Black Ark Fleetmasters for my nautical themed (Dark) Aelf army called The Eldritch Voyage of the Kraken Lord. Had a lot of fun converting a chariot rider/Dread Lord into a Fleetmaster complete with oversized Kharibdyss mandible Murder Hook! Not the best photos but, just finished these guys last night. What do you think? Is the hook too much?!
  14. So, I had an idea for a list centered around scourge privateers, since I love the monster hunting pirate aesthetic. Problem is, the faction doesn't really have a lot of units to choose from so I tried to find complimentary units to slot in the list to flesh out the army a bit and fill some holes in the unit selection. Without further ado: Black Ark Fleetmaster - General - 40 Anointed of Asuryan on Frostheart - 260 Assassin - 80 20 Black Ark Corsairs - 200 20 Black Ark Corsairs - 200 20 Black Ark Corsairs - 200 20 Phoenix Guard - 400 5 Gryph-Hounds - 200 5 Gryph-Hounds - 200 Kharibdyss - 200 So, what do you guys think? The Phoenix Guard has similar ability to Crosairs, so I figured they would synergize well. Should the corsairs be armed with vicious blade and hand crossbow or vicious blade and cutlass? Basically, the theme of the army is to use the Gryph Hounds and their dating strike ability to kite units out of enemy lines to be boxed in by infantry, while using the monsters and assassin to take down enemy heroes.
  15. Sand. Anyone who is familiar with sand (that is to say the true Sand and not the false sand of peasants) can tell you that it is as pernicious as it is indestructible. It is carried on the Winds of Time, and with it the dreams and memories of bygone eras are drawn from the realms and consumed into oblivion… yet some of these relics and treasures of the past are carried on the winds and sands through the Stormwall of Regret and find themselves in the Sour Sea, and as often as not wash up on the beaches of the Endless Deserts where the tides inevitably return the sands. Most of these will be buried in the sand forever, almost forgotten, but not quite. As long as these relics exist there will be those that hunger for their return, pine for their loss, or are inspired by their memory. Druchii Corsairs who find the work of Privateering to be too… restrictive for their temperament will sign on with Captains and Fleetmasters of Realm Reaving Black Arks who will, if desperate enough, ply their trade on the Sour Sea. Most will troll the shallows for lost treasures that have not quite reached the shore, or hunt some of the juvenile leviathans and beasts that might be found in those waters. The truly desperate will risk a landing party into the desert proper, where the potential reward is magnified nearly as much as the risk. The lucky Captain will be the one with guaranteed coin in hand for very little risk – those who offer passage for those desperate individuals who would travel to the Endless Deserts for the chance of recovering that which was lost, be it a memory, a secret, an heirloom, or lost soul… The city of Bétone is home to a few of these pilgrims, but the small port of Desert’s End is as far as most of these wretches get and therein eke out an existence in misery as they search the desert until they are consumed by it. Orias Bloodthorn, Captain of the Wicked Mistress and Fleetmaster of the Blood Tithe found himself on just such a mission, ferrying a passenger to the Endless Deserts, to likely never be seen again. There were easier and cheaper ways to end your life, Orias thought, but shrugged as it offered him the excuse to wallow in his own indulgences. In truth, this task was beneath his station, but the majority of his black arks and corsairs were under contract to the Order Serpentis chapter that was controlled by his daughter Euryale, and he was unwilling to see her again under terms where he would be required to accept her command. His lieutenants could deal with her pettiness and spiteful nature. But as he looked out over the bow and across the roiling Sour Sea he knew the real reason he was drawn to these waters again and again was the weight of his own regrets and losses… It had been quite a while though since he had the opportunity to provide passage to the Endless Deserts, and he found the man to be of an odious nature and a strong will, quite unlike most of the desperate fools he had taken before. He remembered the man arriving abruptly at his table in a rundown saloon in some forsaken shantytown where his fleet had anchored for supplies. “Dreadlord Bloodthorn, I have business with you, “ the dark clad stranger spoke, in a low voice, but one that was clear and firm even in the noisy saloon. The use of the archaic honorific caught the Druchii’s attention and ire and he disdainfully shoved the wench in his lap onto the floor allowing him quick access to his weapons should they be needed. Satisfied for a moment that he had not stumbled into a trap, he looked the man in the eye and replied “Fleetmaster is the word you are looking for. The fact that you recognize my flag marks you only as a well-informed spy. Take your information to Nemeth my spymaster and he will see that you are paid for whatever information you…” The man cut him off, “You misunderstand me, Fleetmaster. I am no spy, merely a traveler seeking passage across the Realms. Allow me to more properly introduce myself. I am Chairophon the go-between, and I am required to travel to a very dangerous place where very few have gone, and even fewer return, and I believe you know exactly of where I speak…” Orias indeed knew exactly where this Chairophon needed to go, and agreed to the passage. But there was still something unsettling and nagging at the back of his mind that something here was not quite right, and maybe even something he couldn’t remember… Regardless, he shook off the sensation of rising dread and roused himself from the foul humor by barking insults and orders to the elves on deck, and shouted to a nearby officer as he strode back toward the bridge, “Ready the passenger, we’ll make harbor by nightfall, and we may as well take a troll the north shallows for our troubles…”
