Don`t think that they will discontinue the daemons since they are also usable in 40k (and just received new printed rules there). On top we got 5 kits which are relative new and were an explicit AoS release (2x Stormcast heads, Khorne Dragon, Skaarac, Mazarall).  Can`t imagine they`ll discontinue them soon.

Maybe FW will just stay with the current shrunken AoS line since all of the remaining kits are selling good?

AoS is comparatively under served by Forgeworld, that's for sure. With the recent removal of Legion of Azgorh and all those other kits that have been discontinued over the last year or so, it sure looks like the AoS Forgeworld range is being phased out. Maybe to make room for The Old World eventually?

In any case, I agree that anything usable in 40k as well will probably stick around. Not sure about the other stuff, though. I could imagine that only staying available until the molds wear out. That happened with a Legion of Azgorh kit (Skull Cracker?) even before they were fully discontinued.

I like ultra elite vamps best, Blood Knights back in the day already diluted the terror of facing a Warhammer vampire a bit, IMO. They were still scary monsters, but a real lord could be a ⅓ or more of your points and blender almost everything. That's what I'd prefer, but with GW likely going for vamp units I'd like them to "only" make up the elite small units - and better in 3s than 5! - and the bulk to be made up of thralls of varying levels of eliteness and skellies or zombies.

Looks-wise I liked all the old clans in metal, the newer stuff is too mixed in quality.  It's  a bit sad that probably only one bloodline/look gets new models - or they go with a new werewolf one.

PS: Ideas I had for Vamp armies that I never realised:

1) The Usurpers horde

A martialistic-minded vamp took over a tribe of Norsca barbarians close to the real Chaos wastes after slaying the chieftain in a duel. He amuses himself ruling ravaging hordes of barbarians too primitive to even understand his title properly, while he and his vampire subjects feed freely under the guise of blood sacrifices and rituals - of course he picked a tribe worhipping a very bloodthirsty deity (= Khorne under a different name).

Vamp would've been a Chaos Lord, one of the Blood Dragon models with fur - or a vamped up foot Archaon, had I gotten my hands on one for this project

His vamp cohorts Chosen and knights

Tribesmen of course Chaod marauders

All sorts of enthralled or summoned beasts could run with the army and Norscans would think it a *blessing*, e.g. Varghasts, wolves, bat swarms or crows

2) Strigoi travellers

I'm not sure if there was a story like this in some WD blurb or if this is just from the White Wolf gypsie vampires, but the other idea was sort of like a gypsi king Strigoi travelling with a group of Sylvania peasants or war refugees from someplace in the Empire. People would (rightfully!) distrust them, considering that a hungry, malformed vampire and his ghoul entourage rides with them.

Army wise I wasn't as sure what to use as count-as, especially for the wagons, but they could have been just for scenery.  Humans in form of rugged scouts and outriders in leather coats and gear and some more run-down armed rabble regular followers and a more elite troupe of twisted perfomers like dancers, stromgmen, acrobats and hedge witches (that are actual necromancers) and lots of ghouls.

The Warcry Corvus models and the Slaanesh belly dancers might actually  make this easier to do...and ironically a kit with vampire hunter henchmen would make  good caravan fighters.

I am so excited for this release, since I have only the old rank and file chaos models these shall all become heroes in my army. Khagra the Usurper will be a Chaos Lord, Zarshia a chaos Sorcerer Lord and the other two Exalted Heroes of Chaos!

I do hope the warband will be strong enough to run on its own... Yet I feel by this point I know better than to expect that with Underworld warbands in AOS.

I'm not convinced it's an ogre (though it does have some visual similarities with old school ogres rather than 6th ed. onwards ogres) but I don't think this is true or something GW takes into account all that much. The Mistweaver Saith and the Tenebrael Shade don't fit anywhere and they got released while models which could have been easily ported into AoS - Grot scuttlings and the Excelsior Warpriest - just weren't. Same for Blackstone Fortress, some of the models do fit into 40k armies but only with rather slapdash get-you-buy rules, while others don't really fit at all.

Yeah, that's why I put they can easily surprise us because trying to predict GW is like guessing where a bottle  rocket without the stick is gonna fly. xD

Like they discontinued the Doomseeker despite having a perfect army for him and then brought it back with the Fyreslayer update.

Warhammer Quest's history is very random so using it as a basis is definitely us clutching at any straws.

The body is very square and rigid compared to ogres or orruks, as if someone made it, so here’s hoping that’s further evidence for Gholem-kind. It’s shaping up to be an AoS version of the B.P.R.D at this rate with a Roger the Homunculus stand in. If we get an Idoneth Abe Sapien I’d die.

Yeah, the blocky body, strange head and bulky forearms kinda look like somebody tried to build an Orruk.

Also yeah I hope the 8th hero is Deepkin(or Solaire Lumineth would be fine too in bringing the sun back into the city with their glowing body). The map has that old canal that could connect with them and certainly there's a ton of tempting lost souls in the city now.

I'd rather not any Lumineth or Stormcast. They don't feel quite right for the grittiness of the setting.

Just a word of caution gypsies is a racial slur in many parts of the world.

It's too bad you never got to make that norsca horde army but it isnt too late to do with StD.

There's already a shining Sigmarite priestess in there. A Lumineth priest breaking off from Teclis' Hysh invasion force to further spread the light or a even a dour black armored Anvil of Heldenhammer Stormcast or skull-helmed, former life necromancer/vampire, Relictor stormcast priest would fit with her divinity.

It's all in the presentation. Just look at any AoS28 examples:

Sure but GW almost always paints Stormcast one way. Bright shining gold just doesn't fit any of the aesthetic they have laid out so far. A converted Death Guard model doesn't do anything to convince me GW would do it in a way that fits.

"Bright shining gold"

They have a little but they pack on the dark.

So they'd fit, especially as they're undead specialists(many reforged from the undead) in both fighting and talking with them.

The only reason I wouldn't want a Stormcast in Cursed City is because they already appeared in the previous two Quests and AoS is all about that glorious Mortal Realms variety.

So I'm adamant on wanting Deepkin, Lumineth or any other strange race to prowl the haunted alleys of this new realm of death city. :D

I don't so much have an issue with Lumineth, but I'd prefer not to see Stormcast in this iteration of WH: Quest because the focus looks to be a gritty, mortal focused narrative of normal (though skilled) people taking back an overrun city. I think having a demigod in there would remove some of the charm.
