Enoby
I'm not sure how I feel about this rule - it makes him often uncatchable. That's not to say it's OP (after all, he can be zoned out and won't hit back in combat), but it's the second time they've created a model that the opponent can rarely interact with in the combat phase

There are loads of armies that rely on melee combat and without having a way to fight at the start of the combat phase they will be unable to interact with Mannfred. I hope there's some general way to fight first in the new edition, like a general command ability to fight first on the charge.

CommissarRotke
I am so excited for Stormground... finally a proper AOS game and it's shaping up to not only be great mechanically, but the studio is allowed to add stories to AOS lore!! They've even hinted they want to bring more factions to life! 😁 This is the perfect thing to hold me over until 3.0's release ahh I can't wait

They produced a certain amount, sold out completely very quickly, and could then do a made to order job so their supply would meet demand exactly with no leftover stock. Job's a good 'un as far as GW is concerned. There's no real incentive for them not to repeat the same thing here. If they have a made to order set up immediately after, great, but I'm not sure it's necessary. RE: resentement, well, they've done far worse things before that have spawned even more vocal responses and it's never seems to have meaningfully hurt them. Folks still queued up to get Indomitus and I have no doubt that even those who have reacted with (completely justified) opprobrium to the whole Cursed City debacle would still get one if they had the opportunity. Totally agree. I think that it will only be upsetting if the box contains a model which is killer, in the battletome of xyz but isn't going to become available on it's own or in one of the smaller boxes till a loong time off - much like the khorgoraths in AoS 1. For me it's academic really as I've still got my soul wars box totally untouched apart from taking out the rulebook to read.

He will still have to get into melee to do stuff, at least. Edited May 12, 2021 by Neil Arthur Hotep

Yeah, it's not so much the strength of the rule, just worrying that there have been two "melee doesn't work" rules relatively close to one another. I just hope it doesn't end up like 2019's activation wars where every new army had a variation of the rule for a few months

They do seem to have become a bit better about that sort of thing recently. Most of Indomitus was repackaged for the ‘normal’ starter sets, with the exclusive minis appearing later in an admittedly wildly overpriced separate kit, so I don’t think we’re at risk of missing out on stuff entirely.

The bundle is relatively cheap considering GW pricing for individual HQ characters and EtB (GW being overpriced in general is something else). Anyway if they do like for 9th ed of 40k with Elite/Veteran/Recruit sizes, I'd just get the smallest one with a rulebook and sell the extra minis. I will live not having the the Angel Stormcast. NicholasFlamelGames
I'm not sure if this has been posted but I thought it was pretty cool. ‘I know beasts. I have spent my lives – both of them – hunting them, studying them, taking their measure as I run them to the ground and drive my spear into their sorry hides. So listen to me when I tell you of these creatures, and listen well, because it just might save you: whatever it is they want in Ghur, it goes beyond a simple desire for violence. As long as they and their Earthquake God roam free, none of us are safe.’ - Yndrasta, the Celestial Spear

sandlemad
Well, that’s a lot. More Malerion in one story than we’ve seen in all AoS so far.
