The Rumour Thread

I like to bring Tau up a lot since they act like a very good warning/reminder for AoS players about the horrors of what could come from GW. Especially when it comes to some of the changes to Cities of Sigmar which feels like them repeating a lot of their past mistakes.

Tau as a faction is just wasted potential in both the lore and on the table. GW has flip-flopped on their lore and has done very little to advance their story for years. Their other races in the empire have little to no representation despite the fanbase begging them for years.

I think historically GW hiring writers who are fans of their games has led to stuff like this(not saying that's completely bad). The fandoms(moreso 40k) have a bit of an issue with tribalism at times, you end up with people who don't like X faction for no real reason other than "Y faction is better" writing rules and lore for X faction. The other side of it is marines are money printers so why waste a release on another faction even if they need it more.

Of course the rumors of new Kroot and Vespids give me hope that they are slowly listening to the fans and we will get lots of dwarfs and elves in future Cities waves. As well as slowly fixing the issues we still see in both AoS and 40k.

Does 40k have rules for human auxiliaries in Tau armies? (using Imp Guard models I'd assume)

That is correct, but they specifically said the launch range. Maybe we get something close after launch? Doesn't that seem possible? I still can't digest the fact that they are intending on rereleasing Bretonnia without the Grail Knights, the King and the Green Knight. And the whole Army Book having only one named character - it being the Prophetess out of all. Seems strange to me if I am being perfectly honest.

they'll probably show off all the returning kits again before the full launch? though you're right that it's weird there is no Bretonnian king (or whatever Gilles/Louen equivalent) coming. because obviously Settra is the big name to lead TK.

I think Brets won't have any more minis revealed before the launch. If I am not remembering wrong when they got their range reveleaded the article said that was all.

Found the article and the exact wording is:

"Alongside these new and returning kits which form the bulk (or entirety) of your force, there will also be a selection of returning metal heroes and specialist units that will be available to order direct from games-workshop.com. "

So I am guessing Grail Knights, Questing knights, and the Green Knight will most likely be options, but just the really old stuff with no updates.

The Duke on Pegasus may take the place of the King, but ya a lot of questions for stuff that will be coming out soon.

Lol nope. Think a few editions ago, but don't quote me on that.

Same like Cities losing their ability to take other Order factions in their new book. Get it from a balance side for both games, but still sort of sucks that both factions lose some of their flavor.

This interpretation reached my news feed:

BTW, the [REDACTED] summer codex might be for stand-alone Inquisition or Imperial Agents. Arks of Omen: Book V mentioned mobilisation of the former, and it is quite probable that it's a similar situation to the Votann tease from the Psychic Awakening series, also an edition-closing one.

One youtuber (90percentgeek) noticed something. All Bret kits are painted in the contemporary colours of Brionne. Except the Baron. He is painted in the colours of king Louen Orc-Slayer. And the baron's helmet and sword looks like those of Louen Leoncouer. But if the Baron's kit can be used as the king, why didn't they mention that during the stream?

Sorry for being off topic, just wanted to ask a quick question if anyone has done this.

Has anyone tried fitting a Freeguild Cavalier helmeted head onto a Stormcast? I wondered if the heads are too small, or since the Cavaliers are much taller than the Steelhelms, I hoped they'd be a nice fit.

I've not seen anyone try this yet so assumed they didn't blend well.

it's all true about the colors but the Baron is still a baron even if it's painted with the colors of Bastonne.

I am expecting “characters series “ FW resin miniatures for all the big named characters such as Louen Orc slayer , Settra and so on.

The game itself is based on narrative campaign books and the first series take place in and around border princes.

I did try the other way, a stormcast helmet on a freeguild marshall and it fits quite well! As i've seen marshalls with cavalier's heads working as well, I guess it will fit for stormcasts :)

That‘s majestic as fudge… beautiful, like a kid dropping his Lumineth army down a cliff and collecting Tzeentch instead! 👌

If Stormcast heads fit so well, deffo the cavaliers gotta match the other way around, as they are noticeable bigger than the Steelhelrms. Marshal with Cavaliers helmet look a bit more chibi than this one imo.

Miniature of the Year 2023 Voting has started.

Obviously Angron or Lion El' Johnson will win just because of 40k's number dominance, but there's been so many excellent AoS models this year, especially in terms of centrepieces, I think the vote is going to be extremely split when it comes to the Mortal Realms' offerings.

In the end I went for the Harbinger of Decay.

40k will win for sure but if I just go by AoS kits I think my personal top 3 would be:

  • Belthanos, First Thorn of Kurnoth
  • Saurus Scar Veteran on Aggradon
  • Tuskboss on Maw Grunta

In that order
