I mean its worth mentioning the specialist and boxed games all have their own teams and plastic budgets, its not a zero sum game with AoS (or 40k) and they can both have development time :D

I hear the specialist games team is almost as big as the Primaris Luitenant team.

Clearly sarcasm as we know the Primaris Lieutenant team is the only thing keeping the company afloat. That is until they learn what this Forum already knows that Ogor Pirates are the new Primaris Lieutenants.

GSC vs Custodes, with the Custodes getting a 'Lieutenant'-like HQ and the GSC getting a Saboteur model of some description.

Thanks mate. I think theres a few REs that show off a Demolition type model. Namely a Genestealer style hand with a Detonation Trigger.

You're joking but it would much much better having the sheer numbers of Primaris Lieutenant for Maneaters considering they're the most different and stylish Ogor personalities.
i'm still bummed we did'nt get a proper multipart plastic kit for them...

Which furthers my complaint about Space Marines they are inherently similar looking. Even stormcast have exotic mounts and more varied animal iconography between units and models. When I played WHFB in my teens, I remember Space marines simply being a big range like Empire or Orcs and Goblins now they make up the majority of releases and the only thing differentiating them is often the weapon load outs. It is a shame because I actually think primaris are such an improvement over the old sculpts.

Ogor maneaters with a varied sprue like Chaos Spawn but with different fashion elements would be so fantastic. Of course having to choose between ninjas and pirates is impossible so a whole unit of Ninja Pirate Ogors might make my Maneaters vissualy confused but will make me very happy.

I really don't get where the problem is. Those are just five chapters with Primaris Lieutenants. And, well, I guess Black Templars and Grey Knights get theirs as well.. But what about Flesh Tearers, Iron Fists, Imperial Fists, White Scars, Raven Guard... There is still so. much. design space!!!

TBH only few non-codex compliant are deserving specific kits imho.
Mostly of them could be just recreated with rules and paint schemes(but maybe for the first founding ones they could do better bits kit than the ones currently xisting with very few options).
Templars are a nice comeback as they were one the less codex compliant of the second founding.

Why, this old thing is out of date! With new advances in Primaris Lieutenants, it should look more like this!

(the BT castellan might be a bit of a stretch, depending on how frothing at the mouth the Black Templar player you're talking to is)

I've still got my fingers crossed we may get something like this for 3.0 Mawtribes. If not a multi part kit, at least a box of 3 with many options to pick and mix from such as the Rockgut Troggoths.

It’s just about on-topic when the point is that space marines have received more variants on a single minor character miniature than many (most?) AoS factions have since the game started.

Which is no real surprise, unfortunately, but worth thinking of when speculating about the, let’s say, ‘possibility space’ for what GW could do with stuff like Maneaters or similar AoS kits that warrant a great deal of diversity. Something something living in hope…

I can imagine the limited edition models are actually quite difficult for GW to design. Imagine they did put out a new maneater, but as a one day preorder and then everyone who missed out on it would be stuck with the old finecast models. This form would be brimming over with negativity about what an awful decision of GW’s that would be. Maneaters just need a new permanent kit. The choice has to be an example like a Primaris lieutenant or Knight-Questor exactly because they aren’t desperate for a permanent update. Vampire lords are another good choice because they recently got a new sculpt and the Underworlds warband essentially gave them four more.

It’s nice to see AoS get more varied examples and moving away from two new Knight-Questors a year that no one uses. However, anything else would have to be something that doesn’t desperately need a replacement like an Idoneth tidecaster, Sylvaneth Arch-revenant or Ogor Tyrant. Something that you won’t miss too much once it’s gone.

I think the Warhammer+ Megaboss was a surprise. Like you say, they have to be careful about making a mini that people feel forced to get and complain about it being limited.

Between the event exclusives and the (presumably) annual Warhammer+ exclusives, it gives GW more chances to try out alternative sculpts. I also think Underworlds contributes to this, most warbands have at least one mini that is a useful alternative sculpt for an army of an existing character.

I'm really excited for the Preview this weekend. We can basically confirm that what will be shown will be;

New Chaos BT.

Warcry Red Harvest boxed set.

Pirate Ogor Underworlds Warband.

Everything else will be a pleasant surprise!!

I'm expecting a small roadmap with sneak peeks of future models I'm very positive with this event.

Might be a bit off topic, but how do people normally follow the preview events?

Live on the twitch stream? (PC, TV, mobile?)

Via the live blog, catch up later?

via forums, social media?

I had already cleared my diary for this Saturday (due to an UFC event), so will be sticking it on the TV live with lunch.

If I don't have anything else to do at the time of the stream, I'll watch it live. If I have something else to do, but tons of hype, I'll probably be checking the website like a madman, but a lot of times I just forgot and then I check the website when I remember.

This time I think I'll watch the stream.

By the way... are we specting a new warcry edition like the killteam one, or just a replacement for the box set?

So, Chaos Dwarves.

Red Harvest could be new Fyreslayers and Root kings (for red and harvest).

Pirato Ogors can stay Pirate Ogors, I don't need to dwarfify that.

I'm very positive for this one as well mate, it's the first one where we really have no clue what the future of AOS holds besides some ideas we have for future Factions. If they announce a mainline AOS roadmap I'll be so happy.

I usually watch the live streams on Twitch but for this one I'll be away so I'll be refreshing the webpage on my phone constantly.
