Miniature of the month is 100% obligation free, no spend required at all. Get in quick, they tend to go fast.

Thanks.

Oh my goodness, why didn't I realise this before? Maybe because it never even occurred to me that GW would give something away for free.

The Necromunda dwarves really fit Kharadron well. I have a box of them now, but their base size is nonsense and they don't get the good Necromunda bases. I put him on a 25 mm though, because that's useful for me. Also, only 10 heads of 5 designs (only male) for 8 figures, few melee weapons. It isn't so hot for a Necromunda set.

Oh wow you can see such similar designs in the shoes!! I wonder if some KO designs became Squats/LOV.

I think the Necromunda dwarves are squarely between Kharadron and LoV

Necromunda dwarves have an old timey space suit aesthetic, Kharadron an old timey diving suit, while Votann looks positively sci fi. Look at the backpacks especially, Necromunda is a lot less modern than Votann, but would fit right in with Kharadron

I also thought the designs of Kharadron might have originally been designed for 40k, but then, the earlier Necromunda squats were this, which looks more like old squats

Reading the Chaos Mainres leaks, I've seen something that made me smile:

Marks of Chaos have abilities (again)!!!

I'm really curious if that will be the same for Slaves to Darkness units.

They kind of do in Slaves when a hero is nearby, but from experience, that can feel pretty finicky and disincentives mixed armies (because then the opponent only needs to kill one hero to stop a mark working). The thing S2D has thematically over monogod armies is that they can mix together to create a more versatile faction, but it doesn't really work in practice with the mark rules.

It would be nice if a mark on its own provided at least some small buff.

Unfortunately the 40k and AoS rules teams are totally seperate and don't talk, so one choice won't change the design of the other.

I am hoping that Slaves get a rethink; marks and Eye of the Gods are cool, but they both feel relatively low impact due to their reliance on heroes (and Eye of the Gods being more of a narrative rule). Most of the rules are cool, but something to make the army feel more imposing would be nice.

I am still sore about the Slaangor-level Daemon Prince warscroll :(

I'm glad the AoS and 40k rules teams are separate seeing how overly complex some of the 40k army rules are.

All of the 3rd edition battletomes have had solid and characterful rules so far and I doubt that will change with StD.

I think we'll get a very hard hitting elite army with the focus being on the characters, as it should be.

Kill Team has a new trailer thats looking an awful lot like Space Hulk!! Hopefully we will see a trailer for a new Warcry set soon and then a reveal shortly after.

I cannot wait for the new Warcry but these themed Killteam realses are awesome!

I hope we get a Mordheim themed Warcry set down the line!

I also am pretty confident that the new Warcry box will be the Centurion, Legionares and Hashut followers, and people will be disappointed as the nurgle swamp units will be in an expansion set. In that case I will of course be obliged to purchase the set setting back my little 40k Knights/Darkdmech/HH project back... of course being me I had no real plan after getting the Chaos Knight box and just throwing out ideas!

So, it was about 40 days from the official announcement of the Skaven/Sylvaneth box to the release date for both battletomes.

If the Lumineth/Tzeentch release follows the same time-frame, we could potentially see the books as soon as the first week of August.

Admittedly, this runs counter to the "autumn" release time indicated by the roadmap, but GWs always been a bit wishy-washy on the exactness of such things.

The kill team boxes so far have been some of my favorite 40k releases, though I wish that the teams were in individual boxes for the most part (especially the Chaos Space Marines and Traitor Guard).

I'm rather interested on what the rest of the Warcry season will look like, particularly the war bands. We now "know" that the rotmire creed (Nurgle bois) are not included with the rest of the cultist units in the Slaves to Darkness battle tome, meaning that they belong to the Maggotkin fully. Does this mean that each god will be getting their own  specific "cult" unit, and if so how do they play into the existing lore? Oh the hype is getting real now boys and girls!

In regards to your Chaos Knight/Darkmech Heresy army, I'd be happy to compare notes @Neverchosen. My guys are based off of Feudal Japan and modern day Japanese biker gangs (Dark Mech) and samurai mixed with Day of the Dead iconography (Chaos Knights), backed up by the Night Lords and Thousand Sons respectively.

By comparison, it was 106 days between the announcement of Arena of Shades and the release of the Nighthaunt/DoK battletomes. I don't think we can guess anything too specific just based on the gap between announcing this and release of the books.

That'd put it smack in the middle of September, which would line up with the Autumn release time.

I'm just an eager-beaver over here. I collect both Tzeentch and Lumineth, and am hopeful that they'll be updated so that they offer more list-building diversity and are more fun to play against for my friends.

I really hope we start getting more and more Warcry as I feel like Kill Team has had at least 2 boxes, possibly 3 by the time the next Warcry box drops!!

Im also really hoping that the first Warband in the boxed set contains a Destruction/Order Warband alongside the Chaos Warband. It made sense for just Chaos in the Eight Points but in the wilds of Ghur it will not stand!!

Personally I’m hoping for a quicker turnaround between announcement and release, given that we found of through the GHB I’d dare say they had initially planned to have this out by now. Kill Team Moroch was announced on the 6/5 and preorder was 22/5. Something like that turnaround would be super!

Apparently GW's gotten rid of all it's external 40k playtesters (according to Honest Wargamer).

Not a big surprise considering how many leaks the ship was springing, seems like it was inevitable. Be interesting to see what happens on the AoS/30k/Specialist side of things.
