The Rumour Thread

Welcome to no-model-monday.

Reminder that there was no new rumor engine last week either. They're also still padding out their WHC content by talking about a single Codex every day for like a month probably like they did with Tau.

There might be bigger issues behind the scenes then we are aware of...

Looks like the new Warcry will be continuing its journey within the Eightpoints, this time with Siege Battles 👀

https://www.warhammer-community.com/2022/02/07/buckle-up-were-laying-siege-to-carngrad-in-warcrys-new-tome-of-champions/

"This mighty Tome also includes all the rules you need to stage showstopping siege battles, which see you team up with allies to assail settlements in the Eightpoints, including the legendary Chaos city of Carngrad.

That makes it an ideal target for aspirational warbands, and these Siege rules let you play out colossal coordinated assaults that are the perfect capstone for your campaigns. You’ll divide into two teams, attackers and defenders, and battle for glory over a series of objectives.

Attackers must take down a well-guarded gatehouse, but they’ll get to add a free monster of their choice to their roster to aid the assault. Defenders must repel the siege and lose as few warriors as possible while escorting a messenger off the board."

Does anyone else find siege rules in a low model skirmish game extremely odd?

Yeah it's a decent idea for quicker games, though maybe "siege" isn't the right word here since it's warbands fighting in/outside settlements.

This passage makes me wonder if there will be actual tabletop rules for it?? Or by "colossal" do they mean 20-model warbands instead of 10.

Could just be pointing to a heavier focus on co-op battles since the multiplayer aspect is kinda the highlight of the article(that Dreadhold shot of 4 different warbands going at it is gorgeous! GW’s team that make these cinematic pictures are always amazing 😍).

I like it though, Warcry sieges can tie in handily with Dawncrusade, Ulfenkarn and Red Harvest/Catacomb narratives with all that terrain about.

Also an excellent opportunity to see the lore of Carngrad expanded as a big central gladiatorial city in Eight-Points.

There’s not a whole lot of info on it yet but the name’s are certainly eye-openers:

”Locations: Water Hill”

Oh that sounds alrigh-

“Locations within Water Hill: the Aquaduct of Pain.”

Ohh…

I don't really understand who Pepe is but I understand he is some how related to wronguns.

Can I like and share these Pepes without coming across as a rightwing nutter?

Pepe is a cartoon frog birthed by a web(?) comic aeons ago, and somehow his expressive 'Feels good man' face birthed a million variants on the internet (especially in corners that rhyme with 'door-pan'). Now, these derivatives have been used in nefarious (racism, bigotry) purposes. To the point the original creator even canonically 'killed' his beloved frog. But Pepe is more than that. Variants like PeepoHappy, MonkaS, PepeHands and poggers are integrated to the emoji lists of large twitch streamers from all across the political spectrum.

In most cases, how you use these memes determine how people will react. I mean, maybe I come across as a rightwing nutter posting these, in which case, disregard everything I have said, but I like to imagine that people just take my edits as humorous celebration of a very forgotten warhammer faction without the baggage.

Phew, I think that was all. Gosh, I need to be less online.

The rarest of Pepes!!! And what's best and rarest about them, besides the humour and creativity? These come without racism or misoginy! 😍

Yup, unlike elfs we're always smiling, as it's can only go one way. UP.

I am not a finaelfial advisor, but as we all know the LINE CAN ONLY GO UP. Never in history has there been evidence to the contrary. It's just basic maths. Invest in Chorf memes today and in a year the yield will be thousand-fold!

Oh sweet! It’s got the collection of narrative campaigns from their website like “the Purge of Anvilgard”, “Forlorn Hope”(the BR Lumineth defense against Ossiarchs) and the Ulfenkarn treasure trove:

Love that they’re putting them all in one place like that and not forgetting about them. This already sounds like the go-to book for Warcry players.😍

i mean with GW there a good of a chance it anything can happen and nothing can happen at the same time. it can be a brand AOS new army or it can be just more 40k stuff and zero AoS stuff

you asking a question no one going to know lol

Yeah my bad meant Autumn!! As an Aussie living in the UK I'm constantly messing up my seasonal ordering.

Five kits says that when CA drops the Chorf DLC, GW is gonna bring back all the molds for a limited time deal.

Don't give me hope. Even that is beyond of what I'd expect for the Chorfs, who are the most unloved of Games Workshop's children. (Well, maybe Fimir beats them for that...)

I'm not trying to spread hope, I'm a Tomb Kings player after all (though Tzeentch has a place in my heart as my introduction to Chaos). I'm just describing GW's usual tactic when it comes to Total War DLC: when a new one drops, they bring back the old molds for "Made to Order" deals.

Yeah I am truly excited for this one. I also don't see the complaint about small scale sieges. We can always have Bugman in his brewery adn the the SCE trying to stage an intervention by any means necessary!

Full reveal of Aeldari Corsairs

Honestly don’t look that hard to kitbash into  city aelf Privateer Corsairs. You could kitbash Kharadron bits on them to justify the tech with a steampunk flair as an Ironweld Corsair theme or lean into the back banner and high helms by going a unique Lumineth Privateers force route.

From Alien-ninja-pirates in space to Aelven-Samurai-pirates from the Sun. :D

Would fit really well with a Wind Temple army since:

@Gecktron did an excellent deep-dive into inspiration for them(and could go nicely with Deepkin allies sea theme with the upcoming tome)

”Some informations on the Lumineth fleet and Seaport Matah.

Matah has been a center of trade and economy during the Age of Myth, also protecting the heartlands of Ymetrica.
Matah survived the spirefall. Beaten, its wall cracked, but not broken.
Since then, Matah has turned to war. Some Hurakan mages have made their home in the towers of the city. Suppressing their nomadic nature to commute with the spirits of the winds raging across the sea. Directing them to either give a speed boost to aelf ships, or to hinder the ships of the enemies of Hysh.
Should this fail, the fleets of Matah set sail. Manned by Vanari, and armed with starshard balistas. (The german article mentioned "oars powered by sunstones", but im not sure how to translate that)”

Shout-out to his homebrew naval stuff based on them :)

“I hope im not interupting anything, but here my take on what a Lumineth ship from Helon could look like. Called the Wave Song class, each ship of this class from Helon is connected to the wind and sea spirits of Hysh. Catching their attention with colourful flags and banners, these spirits power the ship. Reaching acceleration rates far above almost every other ship in the realm of light. The light frame sits on a large blade-like foot that elegantly cuts trough the water, while two smaller feets help with stabilising the ship during rapid manoeuvres.
While the ship mainly trusts in their speed and agility, its compliment of Starshard balistas, and skilled Helon archers allows it to punch above its weight class”

My ability to read small blurry script is non-existent, but I think under Narrative Campaigns there's a section called "The Guild of Poisons," so that should be interesting.

I blame the poor peons who run the inner workings.

maybe this one?

I'm visiting our new house in Australia and my sister in law brought over original heroquest. It was nice to see the Fimir again - I wanted them as proxies for Minotaurs, but alas... too late!

I really wish they'd just release them in plastic.  Destruction, Chaos, I don't even care.
