    The Hag!

    By Eevika

The Troggoth Hag is definitely a piece I believe every Troggoth army needs. It's amazing as a model and amazing on the table. I rarely do such detailed eyes and faces but when working on a model that is the centrepiece of your army you want to spend some extra time just to make it special. This is surely the best work I have ever done on a models face and I think there is just a lot of character and emotion on the model.  My smaller Troggoths are just green and blue but for t

Weekly Hobby Update : 8-30-17

Happy Wednesday everyone!  Safe travels to everyone on their way to Nova Open and please feel free to say "Hi: if you see me around the convention when I arrive late Thursday night.  If you are not able to attend you can follow what I am doing there via Twitter as always.  Now, on to my Hobby from the past week and there is a lot of Red and White being put on models.  Honestly, I look forward to doing any other color with my next army, but it has been nice to tackle the challenging color of whit

First GHB 2017 outing

So originally the group had organised this day to play Skirmish or Path to Glory, that went straight out the window as soon as people heard that the GHB 2017 was dropping on the Saturday. Instead, the day was filled with much fun getting in a game of the new edition. For me, I'd be bringing out my Free Peoples, a force I've been building up on the side the past year or so. I also bought some Beastmen along from my 8th days, that with a few extra models translated basically into a 2000 point forc

Weekend Progress

Here's a bit of what I've been up to. Endrinmaster is coming along nicely. Washes are all done so no it's just highlighting. I've finished putting the Thunderers together and done the first section of the Frigate. It's such a great kit to play with.

Nico's Thoughts on the General's Handbook 2017

So the dust is still up in the air, but I'm going to venture forth with some initial thoughts and reactions. The death of alpha strike? One consistent theme is the nerfing/elimination of many of the mobile burst damage combos in the game - KO Khemist stacking, Tretch + Skaven Warlords stacking, Sayl + X alpha strike, Stonelord alpha strike and even Cloak of Mists and Shadows on the Ghoul King on Terrorgheist. There are only a handful of really strong alpha strikes/burst damage melee co

The Great Aelven Rebasing Project

Hey Everyone!  Happy Friday and happy last weekend to wrap up your Nova Open Projects and Armies if you are attending this years convention.  Today I wanted to follow-up from a post I did quite some time ago entitled "Why I still have Squares". In the article, I flat-out refused to rebase my old armies seeing them as bought for 8th edition and I wanted to honor the plan I had in my head for the army so I was leaving them on square bases and moving forward with my Stormcast Eternals force with p

Occasionally starting

I'm not a new painter, but it has been around 20 years since I actually really painted anything and most of that was for RPGs. A few years back I played 40K, but the weight of trying to paint an Ork army put paid to it actually getting painted. Recently though, I started reading the Age of Sigmar books. They're remarkably good to read at 3am while rocking a baby to sleep. Then, thanks in great part to the Warhammer Community site and, more specifically, Warhammer TV Tip of the Day, I got a

The Death Watch- Sister Elizabeth

Elizabeth Reike-Woerlitz was always a precocious child, outdoing her peers both in the library and on the training yard. Like all the children of that family, she had been raised on the stories of the lost wonders of the Mortal Realms, and she took them to heart- burning to see every corner of the Realms with her own eyes. By the time she was of age, she was a noted scholar, artist and soldier, holding a well-deserved officer's post in the Reike-Woerlitz Freeguild. She spurned any talk of marria

Weekly Hobby Update : 8-23-17

Hey Everyone! The Nova Crunch enters its final stages with only eight days until the fun begins at Nova Open 2017!  I had many goals to complete by then and while quite a few will happen there is a bit that will not sadly.  However, it is no time to quit and while the goal will not be met I will readjust the timeframe for them to keep the goal in sight and reasonable. I was hoping to have my Khorne completed before Nova.  I did not plan to take them to Nova, but I was using the convention as a

Characterdescriptions of the Faithful of Eloni

Here is my first characterdescription for my faithful army. Its the description for sister Christina, my Free Guild General of the Order of the verdant cycle. There is already a hint, that she met with my Stormcast Eternals (How the Stormcast Eternals gets there is still Work in Process). For everyone who is wondering, I called the town 'Rosenheim' in the german version (Mithrilrock is called 'Mithrilfels' there for example. You guys already know Mithrilrock from my characterdescription of

Endrinriggers Done

Here's my completed Endrinriggers. Quite like these guys so have already purchased another 3, will probably equip with a grapnel and 2 more rivet guys.  I've made a start on my Endrinmaster and had just started assembling my thunderers. Was a bit confused considering the new changes to the wars till about how best to equip them but have settled for the full mix of weapons. Will probably do just the rifles for the next 5.

Battlereport "Battle of Heroes"

On Friday I made a my actual third game of Age of Sigmar with the Battle of Heroes Event in GW-Wiesbaden. I wrote a little introductionstory before posting this the first time: Actually it was some sort of introductiongame because my it was the first game for my opponent. After he only has "normalsized" models I didn't use my Drakesworn Templar, so it was a 500 Point Game with 5 Heroes. So my army looked like this: Victor Brightsoul (100) Lord-Castellant Knight-Venator (120

Road to Nova Open 2017 : Part 3

Hey everyone!  Happy Friday and Happy GenCon Weekend!  Time is closing as Nova Open draws near Thirteen Days is all that remains until the big show and I feel vastly behind in my preparation, but determined as ever!  Hopefully, the rest of you are nice and relaxed and fully prepared, but if you are like me and fully in the Nova Crunch I wish you all the luck I can spare. I have managed to get a fair number of practice games in with my Stormcast Eternals, but since I have been playing this a

The Runefather

Folkvar looked down at the realmgate he had stepped through with the Black Wardens when he had first come to Aqshy. He watched as the fyreslayers changed guard with their brethren, allowing those that had stood sentinel over the portal to Shyish to take their respite for the night. The recently dismissed Auric Hearthguard eyed the foreign duardin suspiciously as the passed by with their magmapikes slung over their shoulders.     'They will never truly accept you.'   Folk

Nico's KO vs the Hosts Duplicitous

I had an intriguing practice game at the South London Legion against the ever formidable @Leonardas I had played Rob's HDuplicitous before and built lists using it. I knew that even if I could pick off a few casters, their remnants could still wreck me (especially the Gaunt Summoner against a 20 Block of Arkanauts). My list isn't the classic clown car. Instead I fill the Ironclad with 20 Arkanauts and a Khemist and a Navigator (the General) and put it on the board. It then moves up in

Weekly Hobby Update : 8-16-17

Hey Everyone!  Time for another look at my hobby and games from the previous week.  Also a brief salute to a man who has ingrained himself in our hobby minds and left his mark as a Warhammer Legend (not that he is done growing his legend yet!).  Enjoy! Rob Symes finished up his time with Games Workshop as one of the Hosts for Warhammer TV last Friday.  I think it is safe to say his commentary and insight will be missed on the streams, but it will also be nice to see him return to the commu

Maiden voyage 2. Battling the Dawi Zharr

I'm back! Having only recently having my first son ive not had much time for gaming. Alas my partner has given me league to play tomorrow night!   So my game will be against Legion of Azgorh. I've only played against them twice back when i played Beastclaw raiders and lost both games due to horrendous shooting.  Going into this game i predict it to be a complete and utter slug fest. So i will have to really think about my positioning going into the 1st turn. I don't know the guys

Warhammer Achievements Chapter 1

The first Chapter for Warhammer Achievements charts the journey of a young hero who has a small war band of loyal followers searching for an artefact that will allow you to control your destiny as it gifts you the power of foresight.  Designers Notes: The scenario requires you to find the artefact on a 5+, but you get to add the turn number to this roll, so its possible to find the artefact on the first turn. Their is only one artefact so once its been found that hero becomes a target for t
