    The Hag!

    By Eevika

The Troggoth Hag is definitely a piece I believe every Troggoth army needs. It's amazing as a model and amazing on the table. I rarely do such detailed eyes and faces but when working on a model that is the centrepiece of your army you want to spend some extra time just to make it special. This is surely the best work I have ever done on a models face and I think there is just a lot of character and emotion on the model.  My smaller Troggoths are just green and blue but for t

Orruks, Giants, Ogors & Leviathan

Sorry for the delay in posting. I'd like to blame my progress, but unfortunately it was caused by real life interferring with my painting. Not good given the large task I have left myself with. However I did have a week in which I finished 20 Orruks, and this weekend I have managed to (mostly) finish: 3 Ogors 2 Gargants Leviathan / Blood Token Monster 10 Savage Orruks By 'nearly' I unfortunately ran out of brown (XV88) paint, so the weapon shafts and bases are not

Complete: Dryads

This is probably my favourite shot - I feel like facing this bunch would be pretty scary... The recipe for these dryads was pretty straightforward. After priming, the bulk of it is the wood, and if you do this before anything else you can be quick and messy. Dryad Bark all over (except for the loin cloths, skeleton, etc), then Baneblade Brown on any surfaces that would catch light from above (zenithal lighting). Then a highlight of Karak Stone on the lightest/sharpest edges. Then

Armies on Parade 2017 - The Sylvaneth Harvest

Hey everyone!  Happy Autumn Equinox!  Today I wanted to begin talking about my project and army plans for Armies on Parade 2017.  The date is already fast approaching, but I wanted to ensure I wrapped up my current Khorne army before diving into this one.  As of this post, there are Thirty-Two days before our parade week beings for Age of Sigmar.  On October 23rd Warhammer and Games Workshop stores across the globe will be full of amazing themed and painted Age of Sigmar Armies and I intend to b

Weekly Hobby Update : 9-20-17

Hey everyone!  Hope your week is going strong as well as your hobby.  This post comes with a bit of satisfaction as I have completed painting my Blades of Khorne as of last night.  I still have basing to do, but that should be wrapped up by the end of the week allowing me to start into my Harvest Sylvaneth I will be doing for this year's Armies on Parade.  I will go into more detail this next project in my post this Friday. I truly saved the best of the army for last as I wrapped up my B

Warhammer Achievements Table Maps

For each table at Warhammer Achievements I want to have a map on each table that shows the scenery rules and the secondary objective for that table. Here is the first example that I have put together. To set it up I laid out a board on the living room floor and then stood on the chair with a selfie stick to get the aerial shot. After that it was just a case of importing into photoshop and adding in all the rules and fancy graphics stuff to make it look professional. Hopefully the players will ap

The Serpents Lair - Terrain from the Realm of Beasts

Last couple of weeks I've been working on the terrain for the a table I want to set in Ghur. I've been trying to think of new colour schemes for the scenery for the tables as this is Age of Sigmar and there is no real reason to keep things traditional. For this set I decided to use a brown scheme, but throw in some yellows and reds for a lot of the detailing.  Scatter Terrain These were made from some of the the terrain that was donated for the event from Garrisimo on Twitter that

Neo of Note: @jimbo9jimbo

We interviewed one of the NEOs involved with Coalescence. He's also one of the masterminds behind the REALMS AT WAR which is running a second huge narrative event later this year, October 27-29, in Cambridge, U.K. And they still have a few spaces remaining! RAW17 How did you become a NEO? I played Warhammer 40k in my early teens but followed the usual trend by dropping out of the hobby around the age of 16 to play more sports and video games.  Almost 20 years later, I wasn't playing

Before/After shots

I think it's always fun to look back over time and see how your hobby has progressed with practice, learning new techniques... and the influence of Duncan videos! With the most recent batch of pictures I took, I found some efforts from about seven years ago. To put this in perspective, I didn't progress beyond this stage until about 18 months ago (when I watched my first Duncan video to tackle Archaon) - and since then I've painted regularly. But the change between early and recent is quite

Complete: Treelord Ancient

So it was a little while ago I finished my Sylvaneth, but it's taken a while (and a new camera) to get some decent pictures. So here's the completed Treelord Ancient, with the loincloth sampled in to match Alarielle's dress and leaves in the colour of Autumn (because he is ancient, after all). Just to show the contrast, here's a snap with the TLA next to the much younger Treelord back-to-back. And here's another just to show the theming of the wider army, with a Tree Revenant (I pr

Nova Open 2017 Impressions Part 2

Hey Everyone!  Today I wanted to wrap up my Nova Open Impressions series with a run down of all the Age of Sigmar games I played during the event.  I opted to leave out army lists as the event chose to use the original Generals Handbook so most of the armies were built around the older points and meta.  It was fun to get one last go around with my Warrior Brotherhood, but I think the event would have been much more exciting if it had used the Generals Handbook 2017 as it would have made the fiel

Kairos and Fatesworn Friends go to BLACKOUT

The Event I've consistently enjoyed @Chris Tomlin 's events and this was to be no exception. The laboratory doors under the South London Legion were sundered as five of us made the journey west to sunny Cardiff - Rob Bradley @leonardas , Alex Clark, Tom Lambert, Ben Savva and I. Two Tzeentch armies, Stormcast, Darkling Covens and Clan Skryre made quite a concoction. There were 80 odd opponents and we had the new GHB 2017 to sink our teeth into. I was happy as my list had actually gotte

Weekly Hobby Update : 9-13-17

Hey Everyone!  I am getting back to a normal hobby schedule post-Nova Open.  That being said I have gotten some work done on my Khorne and should have them wrapped up by this Saturday.  I have also been giving a bit more thought on my Aelf Rebasing project as well as finalizing a theme for my Sylvaneth who have sat unpainted for far too long. I am very happy with how my converted Chaos Warshrine turned out, but it was quite the challenge to paint.  The detail on the model wasn't unexpect

Unit: "Grungestock" Thunderers

My first fully built unit is my Grundstock Thunderers. These guys were a rough kitbash from the 40k poxwalker models and the weapon components from the Thunderers set.  I think they have a bit of a Davy Jones crew feel to them with all the tentacles and bits.   I still have most of the rifles remaining so will hopefully get round to building 4 more at a future point. Since the GH2017 has made the rifles a good choice I am just weighing up wether I want to do the remaining as

Some Photos: An Ardboy in my army's colour scheme, complete with red fists, but with my 'old style' basing Goblin Warboss, who will command my forces in the 1,600 point games... not sure about his survivability though Some of the To-Do pile in no particular order. The Beginning

I've recently signed up for the RAW17 and Warhammer Achievements 17 events. Both are hobby events, with a strong Narrative and so I'd like to take the opportunity to redo my bases, and paint (a lot) of new models. I hope to succeed but with real life to contend with as well failure may happen. Fortunately, I have 2,500 points already painted and an appropriate Hunter & Monster for RAW17. Unfortunately, they are not the ones I want to do. So without further ado, the plan is: Rebase:

First water basing attempt

First part of this project was to see wether waster basing was possibly, as if it was not then having a water free sea based army would not feel worth while. I bought some Water Clear Casting Resin (do not recommend opening this in the house, took about a week for the smell  disappear) for the base effect. I had previously tried pva as well as some water effect  basing stuff which did not need any catalyst, I found  both were prone to clouding when going for a deeper than a few mm water sou

Project introduction

To start with this project seems like a totally crazy goal well above my  current hobby skill levels, but I have wanted to do it since I first heard that the Kharadron overlords were coming out so I figure give it a go and worst case outcome will be some fairly pricey AoS scatter terrain. Related to this I  always welcome any comments, suggestions and criticism (constructive is good, but I accept it in all forms). Currently my narrative is in its early stages but I will try to outline its c

Getting Started!

Target list (1000 Points) 1 Aether-Khemist 10 Arkanaut Company 10 Arkanaut Company Arkanaut Frigate 6 Endrinriggers  3 Skywardens   So Far I have 3 Endrinriggers, an Endrinmaster, and a couple Grundstock Thunderers painted. Enough for some skirmish, but probably only the Endrinriggers would be in my 1K list.
