    The Hag!

    By Eevika

The Troggoth Hag is definitely a piece I believe every Troggoth army needs. It's amazing as a model and amazing on the table. I rarely do such detailed eyes and faces but when working on a model that is the centrepiece of your army you want to spend some extra time just to make it special. This is surely the best work I have ever done on a models face and I think there is just a lot of character and emotion on the model.  My smaller Troggoths are just green and blue but for t

The Road from RAW

The Red Gobbo had captured his Leviathan in the face of the Aelfs of the Darkling Covens and their triple headed Leviathan beast. The child-Kraken was a small beast, unable to use his air sacks to rise above the ground and the bravery of the Red Gobbo's Wolf Riding scouts ensured his capture. The Red Gobbo instictively knew what to do with the Kraken, to teach it to float and then fly, and soon it was souring through the woods of the Realm of Life and attacking many large cows, and small creatur

Southern Rumble Writeup

Hey guys, Attended our last tournament at Southern Wargamers for the year. This was the first tournament since the Generals Handbook 2017 has dropped, and I was looking to try out my Free Peoples. Since I am 99% sure I'm going to be attending Cancon next year (Australia's largest tournament), I made some last minute changes to my list so that it was more similar to what I think my final form will be. This meant assembling, undercoating and getting a base coat on 13 more miniatures one day b

Armies on Parade 2017 - The Sylvaneth Harvest (Complete)

Hey Everyone!  Today I wanted to show you my completed Entry for Armies on Parade 2017.  This weekend Hobbyists from around the world will be heading to their local Warhammer or Games Workshop stores to participate in Age of Sigmar Parade Day.  Last year was my first Armies on Parade as it was also the first year of my local area having an official Warhammer Store outside of Friendly Local Game Stores (FLGS).  I took my Stormcast Eternals on a pretty simple Display Board with a raging river runn

Weekly Hobby Update : 10-25-17

Happy Wednesday everyone.  It has been an exciting few days with the release of Warhammer Underworlds Shadepsire this past Saturday and Twitter and Whatsapp have been full of wonderfully painted units from the game and some excellent conversions as well.  If you haven't picked up the game yet I highly recommend it and if you want to watch some games played to get a feel for it before dropping the cash there are plenty of videos on Youtube by various people going through games step by step.  Ther

Scheme Cards at Warhammer Achievements

Using Scheme Cards is an idea that has come from Malifaux, and these cards were the ones used at an event in the US run by @David Griffin. The cards were developed with help from Tom, and Vince from Warhammer Weekly and they were kind enough to send me a copy over for use at Achievements. These cards will hopefully serve two purposes. Firstly they will allow both players to score up to 3 points in each game by completing schemes from their hands of five cards. This makes up the Tertiary Objectiv

Frigate Progress

Here's how my first boat is progressing. It's been a bit of slow going, quite complex with lots of sub-assemblies.  Still need to do a few little touch ups and figure out the base. The flight stand is giving me a few problems, the ball joint just lets the whole ship roll over. Don't want to glue it so will have to figure something out. Maybe some sort of pin arrangement.

Its been a crazy few months indeed for myself and this army of steampunk midgets.  Only recently having my first son, and my work commitments have kept me from doing any real hobby however, i did get a chance last weekend to attend a 1500 pt tourney.  It was sigmar at warlords, the aim of which wad to get guys the 3 event minimum to attend the New Zealand Masters in December.  Out of the 3 games i had one major victory, one minor victory and one major loss. The army

Steampunk mage + Shadespire

Wow, I really didn't post anything for a while. Anyway, life has been quite busy and not much hobby has been done. I've built a battlemage and wanted to give him a sort of a steampunkish look, so tell me what you guys think. I know it's not halflings, but he's definitely going to be allied with my army.   I've also got to test out Shadespire with my good friend Chuck Moore @Odiamh , and while I was skeptical at first, now I'm absolutely in love with the game. The rules seem a bit

Road to RAW17 - The army of the Red Gobbo

'Having escaped the evil Kharadon, following his capture, the Red Gobbo went , in search of his warband - the Redfists of Destruction...' Having spent much of the last 2 months painting for RAW17 and WA5 (Warhammer Achievements), it is time I decided on the army for RAW17 (next weekend), finish basing the models, and ensuring everything has at least some red on a fist! Skirmish Warband (35 Reknown) 1 Nasty Skulker 2 Wolf Riders 3 Orruks with Spears 6 Grots wi

Life Lessons and Wargaming: Goals and Purpose

Hey Everyone!  Today I wanted to start a new article series about lessons in life but applying them to our hobby of Miniature Wargaming.  As we mature in our lives we discover little bits of knowledge that we carry with us through our time here on earth.  Some simple while others grander in nature.  Often times we are taught these lessons by a Parent, Close friend, and sometimes through hindsight.  What I find interesting about these lessons is how they can help someone improve their quality of

Weekly Hobby Update : 10-18-17

Hey Everyone!  I wrapped up my Army and Display for the upcoming Armies on Parade coming up in a few weeks and decided to begin painting up a few extra models I had around instead of diving into another army right away.  Also with Shadespire out this weekend, I am working on my paint schemes for that as well.  I might stick with my current schemes as they are for my full armies, but an idea put out via the Shadespire Whatsapp chat by Ben Johnson was to paint two versions of your Shadespire force

Featured Narrative of the Week

We are plotting our course through next year, and one thing we would like to add to our mission is utilizing the NEON blog and website to collect and promote a wide variety of narrative events and developments within the hobby.  To this end, we are adding a new weekly feature, our narrative of the week. Each Wednesday we will highlight an upcoming narrative event or post a retrospective with pictures taken during a one already past. Everyone in the NEO Network loves narrative play, but

The Cohort of Bloodied Brass: 1250pt List

Greetings, Today I shall focus my attention on the final list I want to have available to me my 1250pt list. Again like my 1000pt list it’s not exactly what I want but it is the models I have painted at the moment.  And I do not play with unpainted models!   == Leaders Aspiring Deathbringer – General: Command Traits: Great Destroyer - (Bloodaxe and Wrath Hammer) Bloodsecrator Daemon Prince - Deamonic Axe, Wings. Artefacts: Daemon Weapon. Bloodmaster, Hera

The Plan for the Models

The idea with this army is to keep it cheap. So I will be using as many of the Spire of Dawn models as possible. I will sprinkle in a handful of conversions to spice things up and to eliminate extra command models when possible. So here is the list of models I will need: Highwarden Archmage + mount and leg bits 3 sets of spireguard + extra bits from skycutters to convert command 3 sets of swordmasters 4 sets of reavers + sister of averlorn bows 2 Skycutters + oval b

Scoring the League!

Greetings.  So I wanted some feedback on how I am scoring the games of the league.  These are my objectives:    Reward players to play with painted armies  Reward players to play as many games as they can Do not punish players who cannot play all games To deal with this mixed bag of objectives, I established two paths to victory.  And I will be giving awards for the player who scores the most points, and the player who scores the best average point.  At
