Yeah, let's go out with a bang! The upbeat language just makes this funnier.

Also, lowkey calling it as an April 1st joke since they could just reveal it and make us feel smart for catching it.

"We've only got one more Rumour Engine left this month, so let's make it a good one"

So no rumour engine next tuesday?? As it will still be this month.

Could be as others have said an upgrade sprue for the Mega Gargant kit.

On the "no more AoS releases after Skaven/Sylvaneth" thing- the way the releases have been going everything [including 40k] is really strung out [40k has had only one proper army release this year I think]. So one of the Slyvaneth or Skaven books could come out end of September -then its just 2 months and then Christmas release window. They could easily be putting out cursed city supplements, WarCry 2 and underworlds in those months plus the battle boxes in December. Still a reasonably full schedule, plus they will have released 6 battle tomes this year by then [I think]- Fyreslayers, Deepkin, DoK, Nighthaunt, Skaven and Sylvaneth. Model light, yes but they are clearly having problems with supply/production and think WarCry 2 and the Cursed City expansions could be good for adding to the overall range as well.

Named character upgrade sprue like this one they did for the knight? Different paint job suggests it's a new model. images.jpeg.1f7b75c63f56ccbc2bede51c16a4b8eb.jpeg

This part really hits home for me. Age of Sigmar is still saddled with a lot of baggage from Warhammer Fantasy and some half-realized ideas from first edition. There are definitely some armies around that need to properly be brought into the mortal realms. Since the game is in 3rd edition now, I think we can't use the excuse that we are in the "just starting out" period anymore. I hope that the recent range refresh of Soulblight Gravelords has done well enough to signal to GW that these kinds of updates are worthwhile and that they don't need to constantly rely on releasing more and more micro-factions to keep profits up. They certainly seem to have been a big hit if online buzz and tournament representation are anything to go by.

Yeah SBGL are funny because they're literally just Vampire Counts. It's just straight up a Vampire Counts refresh. They didn't go crazy with it or off the wall or too unique because of the aforementioned chip on their shoulder. Some ideas and concepts are just strong and if executed well will be successful. For comparison look how much better they've done when compared to weird grinning muscle-skeletons. Turns out skeletons, zombies and vampires are just cool and people like them.

Amusingly I had the exact opposite reaction, I was very interested to see what a modern, AoS vampire/classic horror faction might look like, so when it wound up being Vampire Counts but again I was a little disappointed!  I love the Vengorian Lord/Lauka Vai sculpt, but that's the only kit in the whole range which really speaks to me, I guess I like at least a smidge more off the wall than zombies and skeletons.

In any case, the new rumour engine kinda looks Dark Elf-y to me?  Those pants with the buckles show up occasionally in the old range, I think the Hydra beast wrangler has some?  They're not totally dissimilar from DoK shadowstalkers, the Silver Tower assassin guy, or Drukarii Wyches with the cut-outs either, but those all generally have knee-pads.  I'd expect blood bowl models to generally have football pads as well, so I suppose I'm putting my guess on the perpetual favourite of Malerion's stuff, it's gotta be right one of these days!

it could be a blood bowl model still, certain teams are much less armored than others (Amazon/Norse)

People pointed out that we'd already seen it on the WarCom facebook post, and the "Rumour Engine Technician" claimed that the picture was a new model, even if that part existed on an existing one too, so actually I'd say that's an upgrade kit confirmed! (and from the horses, or maybe gargants, mouth for once.)

I don’t think they have every use bloodbowl for the rumor engine at least not in their new format, the only specialist game they ever put up is for Necromunda

Underworlds starter with Stormcast vs Malerion's Elves?

is there any reason to suspect it'd be Stormcast? Malerion vs Eshin makes more sense for Ulgu theme.

I'll die on the hill that OBR was and is a great design. Some of the faces had to grow on me. I think they did a great job of making "skeletons" that look scary/intimidating while being tied to the idea of "humanoid animated bone construct." The slavic/balkan skeletons from SBGL look great as a refresh, but they also look like I could drop them with a nice hammer blow. OBR made me actually want to buy into a Death army for how fresh their design feels. And that isn't to say I DISLIKE any of the SBGL range (zombies with roots still in them?!? YEAH), but that it is better to have both new aesthetics and refreshing old ones, than relying on WHFB nostalgia or overdone aesthetics for fantasy-at-large.

I maintain that AoS is a better and richer setting for containing both the completely original high-fantasy Ossiarch Bonereapers and the more grounded, familiar Soulblight Gravelords. They lend themselves to different narratives. you couldn't as easily have had that mythical clash between Teclis and Nagash with regular skeletons and vampires, and you couldn't make Cursed City work with Bonereapers. It's nice in my opinion that the setting can support both.

A big strength of AoS is that, although I don't care about all factions or like all the different aesthetics equally, I still think every faction that exists enhances the world of the Mortal Realms overall.

They used a FW Blood Bowl model (the goblin chainsaw) very early on (not that I think this is BloodBowl).

Yeah I remember that one but afterward they stop putting out engines for FW and outside of special teaser they don’t really do bloodbowl. Occasionally they do show of Necromunda and Titanicus on the engines but that about it if I remember correctly
