Obviously, it's Stormcast rhino cavalry.

White Rhino's name seems to stem from a mistranslation of wijd, for wide (lips).

They are also quite big.

It would also fit the Bretonnian rumour, because what is a rhino but a chonky unicorn, which featured in Bretonnia as well!

If we cross them with Indian/Sumatran rhino's, we'll have nice armour plating, and they are quite fond of marshes and water, tying them nicely to boghobgoblarsnotlings

Damn this makes me hope we do get some plastic Rhinox Riders for Ogor Mawtribes or another big beastie for them.

As for the second faction of AoS 3.0 starter I think GW must go safe. They are taking Stormcasts and Space Marines for every starter  for a reason. They need to aim for the most wide tastes. I doubt we will get something other than some kind of Greenskinz.

And in Whfb at least the were 2 starter boxes with orcs and goblin so it will give that classic feel having some greenskins.

About the "think wide" i'd love a not-dreadnought still maybe@Whitefang meant "wide army" so stormcast with Human auxiliaries ? XD

Stormcast have a wild range of models and new models seems cool at the same time greenskinz are generally loved by the community(IMHO), I never played orcs/goblins but love the miniatures and background.

My best wishes for all is a good new edition!

Exactly the same here. I've absolutely zero inclination to ever start a green-skin army but love seeing them and love fighting them.

I suspect Whitefang was implying a wide selection of new Stormcast units, some of which will be physically big in size.

I’m getting ‘classical’ vibes from the new Stormcast designs, so maybe a celestial war-elephant could check the ‘big’ box?  (Always been a fan of models with a howdah)

So if a Wandering Monster Mechanic becomes the new Endless Spell for 3rd edition, I hope its a totally new mechanic than the wandering monster realm rules currently in place for Ghur. I'd much prefer a line of Neutrally-aligned "beasts" that could be taken b any army, similar to a mercenary unit. It also frees GW to make some models that can be taken by ANY army, which gives some love to some of the less supported lines.

On a similar note. I would also love to see the return of an actual classic dragon to the game. You know, large, winged reptilian monstrosities with a breath weapon that the mere sight of strikes fear in mortals! Something akin to the GW's amazing Smaug model, but in a smaller scale (and price point!) All the current ones are basically old world models that could use an update (elven dragons, Hydra, zombie dragons, chaos dragon, and i think the forgeworld dragons), except the stormcast eternals Stardrake (and I guess the Magmadroth and mawcrusha) . For those more in tune with the lore, are there any true dragons left in  the realms? From the lore bits we have around Kragnos, it sounds like his race slew all the dragons/drakes they could find,

So, this Stormcast update could be interesting because some folks have suggested that we aren't actually getting a new chamber, and that rather this is just a "technology upgrade" for the faction.

With Sacrosanct, we got a battleline, a paladin equivalent, an archer unit, and artillery piece, a cav unit, 3 variants of the Chamber's primary Lord, 2 lessor lords, and a knight. What are we expecting this wave to look like, and will it also be considered it's own chamber or not?

We've already seen battleline and a paladin unit. There's a rumor engine that suggests archers, and cav seems a sure bet.

I don't think Yndrasta would be in even an Indomitus type box, so I'm predicting:

Vindictor spears, new battleline
Annihilator paladins, elite unit
Ranged unit, probably specialist but might be conditional battleline
generic lord, mounted & combat oriented
generic hero, on foot & support
cavalry unit OR behemoth

The Mortarch of Night is canny, and willing to do whatever it takes to succeed, including setting aside petty grievances – if only the same could be said for Neferata and the others.

I like this a lot.

This highlights pretty neatly that we do have a pretty coherent core of scrappy, cobbled-together gear. It's not listed but I would also include the bottle rumour engine, has a similar bent nail to some of the others.

advent engine day 9

Also the net in the bottom right has weights which are very similar to those on Kharn the Betrayer, and given the World Eater's predilection for gladiatorial gear, I strongly suspect that will wind up as part of an eventual 40k Khorne release.

Looks like a bear-type head to me - maybe Kislev from the old-world? Although that would make those arrows huge.. I'd love to say Kurnothi but maybe Order/knights of Sigmar- looks like its sitting on armour plate.

I also noted that yesterday's write up of 3rd Ed included Order "wrestles with the arrival of new gods.." gods plural so not just Kragnos - Kurnoth maybe, Grombrindal/Valaya.. I wonder who else might arrive [probably more for Destruction forces.. Kragnos could do with more rivals]. Really looking forward to finding out more [and the new monsters mentioned- I wonder if these will be individual monsters popping up - in old WFB you could take 25% of your points in monsters - would be apt for the Age of the Beast- the equivalent of endless spells and the excuse for some fantastic new models..

remember scrolls of binding?

That would work.  Like Storm of Magic and Monstrous arcanum - which had it nailed to a tee.  We could easily have scrolls of binding to bind monsters to armies, much in the same way as the endless spells.  Where the enchantment be dispelled, then the monster could react depending on how aligned to the binding army it was.  i.e. Lumineth binding a thirster was never going to end well when it broke free of the spell, but a fireslayer binding a magma dragon...

And then Forgeworld would have a proper reason to bring back its monsters again.
