Haha I love how people have already decided this is it. No new models nothing. 24 hours ago we didn’t expect this box so soon, not to mention no indication of the books. 

For every release they build up the hype with community articles revealing everything bit by bit. Usually starting off with a general one. So I’m going tot wait on those before despairing over no new models.

yeah but they usually at least tease us that there is more to come though. of course their is hope that there  could be stuff at LVO in the end.

past experience would state that if there is a significant model releases coming GW usually have their graphic department make a trailer before revealing the Battletome.

seems like it‘s the whole thing. I would have been fine if they had used the throne that already existed, because that could be carried around. Now it seems like every battle is happening in a FeC throne room, underground...at the heart of their lair...😕

Yeah I think you're right that there's no probably no models on the way. Very surprising for Skaven since they have so many old kits, or kits that are no longer available (Island of Blood weapon teams).

At the same time GW might be in a position where they just want functional armies and to bring out their new armies. Getting AoS to a point where its got all the armies and then coming back to tune up armies here and there. Don't forget there's new Slaanesh models and at least two full armies for Aelves to come at some stage. That's three big releases ontop of Gloomspite so 4 big army releases. At some point GW likely is just running out of production space for more stuff - whilst the terrain, spells and tomes are all overseas which GW can expand on without investment. 

That said their new factory should come online at some stage so that might well allow for a short term boost in release rates (I'd say short term as after that I'd wager it would shift over to bulk production of stock). 

 

In the end we can easily see potential for more releases , the key is that with a Battletome those potentials become more probable than without a Battletome.

I dislike that too, but that's the same problem I have with the herdstone and the loonshrine. Seems like going forward all the armies will fight at home. (The gnawholes make sense, thou. I actually like that idea).

That aside, I think this release is good news, not only for the respective army fans but for most players with old or non-existent battletomes.

Their withered bodies, damaged and worn away from the pressure of carrying the supplies for the army, rattle and shake as the bones from within them twitch and spasm. Dark black magic causing those bones to tear free from what little muscle and sinew remained, ripping the bodies apart. 

The bones rising to form a swelling mound, a rattling bashing hollow sound of bone striking bone repeated over and over. Before long his Throne stood before him. A seat from which he could observe the coming battle and command his forces with impunity.

Yep this is exactly why I don't understand why people don't think the throne makes any sense or that it would mean the battle is taking place in a flesh-eater court's lair, same with the fence. AoS is a high magic setting, conjuring up a throne of bones and sinew from which a king/queen could command his/her armies or some sort of blockade/fence would be nothing to these people. I mean we have a bunch of ratmen who may or may not actually exist that tear holes through reality for crying out loud.

Just a point but in fantasy settings and situations many large armies would have tents, baggage trains, large armies of people to help organise and carry stuff e tc.... It gets forgotten about in AoS (esp with the Stormcast since they can appear to travel for war without needing food, water, rest nor even taking their armour off); but most armies (esp those moving in a mortal way) are going to need a support train and supplies. So a bone chair would be very easy to move along. Just chuck it on one of the corpse carts already following the army and you've got it ready to put into position somewhere on the battlefield with a commanding position. 

 

 

Note I think if AoS were in warmaster scale this kind of thinking would be more apparent; because what we play are basically skirmish style battles (in terms of the number of models nd space they play over relative to each other) I think many forget that if we are representing armies then there'd be a lot more support coming along not just warriors.

I can confirm though that when the night vault warbands for sylvaneth and kharadron release they will release alongside two new. Battletomes for their respective factions. I would say this may be may late April.

I'm going to take back my earlier statement about thinking rumors involving 10ish battletome releases this year being unrealistic. Its February and we're already at 3 now with this. I just hope Fyreslayers get an actual new unit kit or two.

For Skaven and Flesh Eaters, I'm excited though their not a must buy for me. I've been wanting to get into Flesh Eaters but have found their lack of model variety off-putting.  If they wind up getting zombies and corpse carts that might push me over.  I'm curious to see how many of the resin/metal skaven kits make it into the new battletome.

GW might have set a goal to have all existing playable factions with an up to date BT by 2020.

Discounting the very discontinued Greenskins, destruction need Gutbusters. Also IJ and Bonesplitters update.

Chaos just needs Slaves to Darkness, which should be out 2019, and Slaanesh, which is 2019 or early 2020.

Problems lies of course with order, where Seraphon, FS, KO and Sylvaneth need an update and Freepeoples, Dispossesed and the Aelves mess need to be reworked.

That's at least six BT updates and four factions that need their new framework launched. With this rythm, I think that 2020 is a good goal to have a complete game.

I really hope that you are right.

I don't have any problem with Endless Spells nor new toys to play (even if KO have one battleline....). But new rules and interactions is what makes AoS so awesome (without going full skirmish like Malifaux or Warmahordes), and this rules can only come with new battletomes.

So, I hope that they take their time thinking new mechanics (even if the minis or stats are not the best, editions will change that, but how an army is played is a bit more tricky to change) to write awesome new ways to play.

Given we just had a huge "rumor" guy busted as fake I remain extremely skeptical.

As a High Elf player i dont have any idea of what the future holds. I really hope i wont have to pour my near 6k Elves into the garbage.  I am ok with losing the OOp models, but the others should be used somehow.

Skaven will give us an idea of what will be the destiny of the Spire of Dawn models.

Based on this I think those are the only new models coming; however both sound great! The Skaven leader is a fantastic ranged specialist whilst the Court gets a rather nasty leader that can add D3 attacks to a whole unit. Even at +1 that's a big damage bonus - get a +3 and that's seriously going to change results of many match ups - very powerful!

That is for me and many others a big issue.

The uber lift newer tomes receive.

This also killed WHFB for me.

24 Inch + d3 attacks? Come on..

Older tomes have wholly within 9 or 12 Inch and would have received +1 attack.

 

I really dislike this way GW is going.

@rosa don't forget Flesh Eaters have very few actual models to choose from. So buffs like that make sense because they've got such a limited pool to pick from that they don't have variable units for different roles at present. 

 

Also the uber lift isn't that uber; so far its one ability. And if it brings it into line iwth the other new tomes that's good - we already know that new tomes get alliance abilities and the like. Plus launching with two ravamped tomes  this year suggests strongly that GW is going to update all the pre 2.0 tomes pretty fast! So you shouldn't be long before armies like Seraphon and Fyreslayers are updated

Maybe you are right and my saltiness is a little bit to early. But I hope what I meant is understandable... I really hope GW keeps the balance.
