@Sprues&Brews - thanks for pointing this out.

While extra Core Battalions may worry some people, they don’t add any new bonuses over what is available in the Core Book, just different ways of getting those bonuses – for example 3-6 Troops can be taken as a One-drop Deployment, or 2 Troops and an Artillery can be taken as Slayers (Free Unleash hell once per game) – combined with those in the Core Book this again gives people lots more options for list building without feeling restricted.

small hero = mirrorshield

big hero = amulet of destiny

 

archetypes:

1- You wanted to play Beastclaw Raiders but stick to Order: all the dragons

2- You miss shootcast: 1-drop with a big alpha punch of double tapping 6 raptors

3- You wanted to play a horde army: all the redeemers, stormkeep, teleports, possibly one big survivable and mobile hero

Overall I'm pretty happy with how customizable the Stormhosts are. New Dracothian units are nuts. Vanquishers are meh. Vigilors are decent. Judicators are improved, I might actually like crossbows more now. For Vanguard Raptors I DEFINITELY like the crossbows more now. Knight Venator got like no love, basically trash. Same with Ballistas. Azyros gives +1 to hit against enemies in range now, but hits twice as hard. Sequitors and Lord Exorcist got some spicy utility. Gavriel Sureheart got nerfed into an early grave. The Chariot is bonkers for the points. Everything basically went up.

Biggest surprise is the Holy Commands we can choose. Count as an enhancement (Does it mean we can choose a second if we take a warlord battion?) Once per game command abilities that are bonkers value. Like get back an entire Redeemer unit when it dies, as long as you have a hero on the battlefield for 1 CP, once per game. Other options are Run and charge, Shoot in the hero phase, get +1 attacks for the combat phase, and Explode on 5+s when dying instead of 6+s

Liberators improved but didn't really get the help they needed, and went up in points to 115.

Castigators now ALL have D3 shot bows. Their channeling buff was unchanged.

Vanguard Hunters can teleport to any board edge instead of making a NORMAL move each turn.

Knight Heraldor lost his run and charge ability, now only has his MW toot. 

Castellant and Vexillor remained the same.

The Knight Draconis is a hell of a leader choice.

The Knight Judicator is 205 points. RIP, lol.

Stormdrake guard er crazy good! Draconic onslaught is a once per game free normal move in the hero phase, and if it ends within 12" of an enemy, they can immediately charge in the hero phase! This completely messes with so many things like redeploy and unleash hell, that is going to be so darn useful, with 12" move and flying, they can be whereever you need them.

Not to forget the knight draconic can make them breath attack in the hero phase too, which adds up to a terrifying amount of mortal wounds and charge potential in a phase where the opponent can do nothing about it.

- Lightning orb spell: similar to pyroelectric but 12” range, pick a point everything within 3”, roll a dice, on a 4+ they take D3 mortals 


- they both still have cycle of the storm

Have been ULTRA hype for this for months and the book is over all a major let down.
Vindictors are just so much better then all other battleline that its really just impossible to justify anything else especially when you consider cost.

Knight Relictor is possibly the worst warscroll I've ever seen, 3 attacks 3s and 3s 1 rend 1 damage.
He gives a 4+ shrug to units near him against prayers and he's 140 points.
Thats literally it.

Most oldcast didnt get touched if they did it was a nerf, all mounts lost mount damage on 6s, Intolerable Damage etc
Judicators are better then they were but are now 200 points so priced out of being competitive.
Castigators are actually usable but not great, just D3 shots as opposed to 1 for 105.

All the units that were ignored forever are the same, Taurolon, Celestants and Libs are not worth taking over other options.

Artefacts and Traits were gutted, Stormhosts are now ok but huge nerfs to Anvils.
The dragon characters are ok but I probably wouldnt trade them for Carthalos and Yndrasta for one of them.

I am really disappointed.
