  1. I don't think that is nearly enough to represent named characters. If it uses the same artifacts and command traits (especially if they're not your general) as normal units, it's boring, if it uses unique stuff, you might as well just write a new warscroll.
  2. You guys know the game where you guess how many marbles are in a jar? Typically when you average out everyone's' guesses, it's really close to the actual amount.
  3. They did mention eels during the reveal. So probably that
  4. I wonder if Cities of Sigmar will go the way of Orruk Warclans with several souped factions.
  5. Overall very happy with the reveals but I have a few nitpicks - Wish the new Sylvaneth stuff was more tree and less elf, but I'm still very happy with them, they do embody the whole "forest coming alive to protect itself by turning you into fertiliser". I'm very glad we got bugs, and maybe unpopular but I'm glad it's not Kurnothi. The Spiterider Lancers are slightly annoying in that it looks like if you build them with the musician and the banner bearer, only one guy actually has the aforementioned Lance, but I'm sure that can be remedied. (I see a cool conversion to attach the pennant to the back.) Bit sad that Skaven didn't get anything else - especially considering they still have metal models. But I hope the new hero and tome is enough to make the local Skaven player happy.
  6. Friendship ended with Kharadron, now Leagues of Votann is my best friend. Too lazy to make the image, just imagine it, you already know the format.
  7. Just paint the scheme you wanna paint, nobody actually cares if you don't match the stormhost colours, especially now that there aren't any generic custom stormhost rules. Look into some conversions, I know a some people are just running Vigilors as Judicators, and using the spare swords from that kit can convert Vindictors into Liberators. Knight-Arcanum is perfect as a Knight-Incantor. But I'm sure there's a decent 3-2 list actually running Vigilors and a bunch of Annihilators.
  8. The big dragons are on 160mm. I hope you didn't order any 180mm bases.
  9. "a focus on boosting units that currently aren’t seeing quite so much play on the tabletop." I'm still holding out hope
  10. I'm still gonna have fun playing with my Stormcast, I love them and I love playing them, but if I'm honest this version of the book is kinda dull, a lot of missed opportunities it feels. There are a lot of warscrolls that are so close to being interesting if GW had been a little creative. The warscrolls that ARE good are pretty simple, and that mostly comes down to decent profiles with appropriate or low point costs. AoS is a pretty long-term hobby so hopefully we see some updates alongside the usual point updates in the form of campaign books, erratas and whatever else they can think of. Until then, I can be thankful that there's still cool stuff to play with, even if it is a bit simple, after all, simple can still be fun. Hell, I just got some Dracothian guard that I'll magnetise, first thing I'll try are tempestors. I'm also extremely excited to play with Bastian, just such a sick model.
  11. I feel like people really underrate praetors. Yeah you can give a hero a mirrorshield to protect them from shooting. But praetors also protect from spells, random MW abilities and even melee. Each one basically has the same attack profile as a hero, some other minor things they provide are look out sir (3 models) and extra bodies for objectives. Additionally their footprint can stop the hero from getting surrounded. They aren't incredible but they do provide some damn good protection. Great for Gardus, or with another hero it means you can put a different artifact on them like an arcane tome or something. If you have an amulet on a Stardrake or similar, the extra enhancement you get from a battalion could go towards something else.
  12. I'm kind of inclined to agree with you, sweet models, strong hybrid unit. But I think it's mostly down to the role and how they're used compared to similar units. They're not out yet so there hasn't been much testing either. In a vacuum, vigilors are decent at everything and if you had to choose between a single tool or a swiss army knife, the latter is generally more useful. But in an entire army you'll probably have a full tool cabinet and the swiss army knife suddenly isn't as useful. They're just kind of awkward, don't reinforce well, Knight-Judicator doesn't make for a good general. Can't use thunderbolt volley that well, can't shoot with steadfast march, I think if you want MSU skirmishers that can be fast, shoot a bit and finish something in melee, then Tempestors are a good choice.
  13. If you're going to run that many units of paladins you might want to go Knights Excelsior for your stormhost. Yndrasta has some nice synergy with 2 squads of retributors to revive, and with MSU you'll get some use out of the stormhost ability. But that isn't important. Retributors are strong without too much support, albeit a bit slow. If you want to be stronger in activation wars, buff efficency and translocation efficiency, 10 protectors might be the better choice. Retributors are probably more versatile for listbuilding, the block of protectors assumes other buffs/translocation etc If going Knights Excelsior or 10 protectors I would suggest going for a warlord battalion to get an extra holy command for Unleash Thy Hatred. I would probably also put your key melee units into a hunters of the heartland battalion to ensure that Unleash can't be countered. With the paladins fulfilling your battleline you could drop a unit of vindictors for a knight incantor, gets you your spellcasting and the auto-unbind scroll which is really good. I'm guessing you have all the stuff from dominion, if you don't have a Knight-Incantor, just use the Knight Arcanum, nobody even knows the difference. Can then use a defensive artifact on the lord relictor One problem however is no lord-imperatant, that makes annihilators much less effective. If you're willing you could swap Yndrasta out for some smaller support heroes Imperatant + Incantor is 300 pts.
  14. missed this edit/notification, the example was just unclear to me
  15. I was initially skeptical of translocation as well, but no changes after several FAQ's and a new tome, surely it's intended right? Or are GW really that bad at fixing things in a timely fashion?
  16. So, loss of reroll 1s against shooting, grandstaves are 1" reach, no spell lore, empower is +1 to wound instead of reroll. Not only did they get worse, but all the similar options got better. Retributors have better raw damage with good rend, and do just as many mortal wounds. Evocators have the utility of being able to unbind, selecting a different unit to receive their mortal wound output (which is pretty good), and are 1" faster. But 3+ vs 4+ save, and retributors can be battleline and can receive the Knights excelsior subfaction ability. Also Unleash Thy Hatred is really strong. If you really need some combat tricks, an unbind, or support for your sacrosanct/redeemers, evocators are okay.
  17. Speaking of the LAoT, and I'm sorry if this has already been asked, but does his comet trail affect himself?
  18. Also Paladins being really good now means I have an excuse to get some, love the look of protectors a lot. Same goes for the lord relictor, he's even in paladin armour which is so fitting. But maybe I'll give him a helmet swap and remove the spikes from his shoulderpads.
  19. Yeah Warhammer is definitely a long-term hobby, armies get better and worse with new releases and it takes hours to paint your stuff so you just have to roll with it.
  20. I think the overall goal, and power level of the new books are pretty good. The only shame is that we'll have to wait years for other armies to be updated to follow the same game design. Even then, how much power creep will we we see? Armies like Lumineth will still be disgusting, and by the time they get a new book, power creep will mean they're still disgusting. Also first forging Stormcast was really bad, now it's Sacrosanct's turn sadly as GW perpetually wants people to buy new stuff. Firstly, sacrosanct was good to get people to buy that, plus the starter sets, now all the people with Sacrosanct armies are left getting first-forging or thunderstrike units. It sucks, but maybe one day my Sacrosanct will be good again.
  21. Same price as belakor. $230 Australian. I can feel my soul leaving my body
  22. But consider the Annihilator's role. They're much better suited to do that job. They just wanna drop in, and do as much damage as possible. If they weren't that different in point values, there wouldn't be much reason to take the shield Annihilators. Edit: Also the maths basically amounts to them doing double damage. Also the 2" reach makes it viable to run them as a block of 6 if you wanted.
  23. Do we know how much the vulture kit is gonna cost?
  24. 1 person plays SoB sometimes here. The knights Excelsior ability only activates if target has more models, would that factor into 2x5 vs 1x10? Protectors or Retributors?
