The talking seems imply the opposite unless i'm reading wrong though...they're saying that the old fw models will never get back but Chorfs will come back in TOW.
So...new sculpts ?Maybe a plastic release in Aos that could be used in the old world as well?

Perhaps what the guy at the counter meant is that most of the old kits won't return.... because they've been remade into plastic?!

Jokes aside I think we can all agree that chorfs in some way and form are coming to TOW and AOS. Perhaps the kits will be useable in both settings, perhaps not, but we as a community have gotten too many hints and teases for GW to back out now. Plus, as we've seen with Forge of The Chaos Dwarfs, people are largely accepting of their return.

They’re coming to AoS 100%. But I’m a bit baffled why “soons” and “November release” are popping up from this.

Even if the guy isn’t just playing up chorf TWW hype to get more attention and sales he could’ve just heard a off-hand mention for TOW that could be several years away still as the devs are in the design phase while AoS Chuardin could be anywhere from 2024 to even 5th edition in the Realm of Metal where they seek all that metal for themselves while undoing Grungni’s progress for a big duardin war.

There’s no real time tables here and I doubt Chorfs are a priority for the world-that-was when even Kislev & Cathay are but whispers.

I'm pretty sure that the legion are just being rebranded back to the old world and rereleased as they were. In the context of old world kits the resin Chaos dwarves are pretty good sculpts that hold up better than a lot of the old plastics. They were even sculpted by some of the same people who are working on the old world project. Bringing this army back with new rules is an easy win for GW. It wouldn't surprise me to see some of the forgeworld monsters come back for the old world if the kits weren't designed explicitly for AoS.

November is considered Autumn in GW roadmap terms (and in our calendar too). The only autumn BTs are Cities of Sigmar and another mystery BT (who is totally not FEC). Chorfs in November would invalidate the whole roadmap as we know it.

Earliest I can envision Chaos Dwarfs is December 2023, and that's already a big stretch since we have nothing to back it up. Also happens to be the rumoured time when TOW launches. That, or early 2024 at best. I do hope they launch before the current edition of AoS ends since they're teased coming to Thondia.

Just drop them for AoS, announce they're dual purpose for TOW and be done with it. Maybe ask FW to do a resin mini of Astragoth or Zhatan to please the die hard WHF Chorfs fans, and that's it.

After vigorous pondering, séance seshs and a couple blood sacrifices of captive hobgoblins, I see five possibilities for a TOW boxed set. I've listed them in what I consider their likelihood to be.

The Fanservice: Tomb Kings vs. Bretonnia. LONG LOST NEHEKHARA lives!

The Horus Heresy: Empire vs. Empire. You haven't forgotten the setting, have you?

The Greybeard: Battle for Skull Pass/Island of Blood re-release. Here comes the money 🎶

The Total War: Kislev vs. Chaos. No Konstaltyn included.

The Chorpfium: Grand Cathay vs. Chaos Dwarfs. It'll never happen, but hopium engines are on 110% productivity!

I'm thinking Bretonnia and Tomb Kings will be early releases. Simply because they have had the most spotlight so far and have already received renders for new bits.

I'm not 100% sure they will be the launch box. They might be, but I think something like Empire vs. Orks or Empire civil war is also a strong contender for a launch box. Kislev might be an early new faction, too. They were the first faction to get concept art on warcom after all.

My vote is for Empire VS Orcs too, that seems the more believable rumour to me. Bretonia and TK are great to show that the old gang is back, but GW wants their starter boxes to sell like crazy, and I don't think they would trust two of the less popular armies to do the trick.

No disrespect to the fans, both armies are cool and have great lore, but that was the state of things.

My money is still on Empire vs Empire. While during WHFB's days they weren't the most popular faction, they're by far and away the most popular among the Total War crowd and others who only learnt about Fantasy post-End Times. Having a basis for most games being Empire vs Empire with the Age of the Three Emperors as the setting can't be coincidence.

Like with the Age of Darkness boxset, it really would just be an 'army in a box' which you can technically still split and have a fluffy game, but is primarily designed to get people through the front door in one swoop.

Knights of the Realm still using ze old plastics makes me doubt the Bretonnia vs Tomb Kings rumour. They're the core of any Bretonnian army alongside the also-recycled Peasant Bowmen/Men-at-Arms, so none of those getting updated just sinks that rumour for me.

Empire vs Orcs would have been my guess if we had zero information about TOW, but the fact we've seen nothing about them so far except for some off-hand fluff references and the blurry Goblin Wolf Riders shot makes me doubtful. Of course there's still plenty of time for them to yell "SURPRISE!" and reveal a load of new sculpts that would be in a potential boxset, so I'm not dismissing it yet.

Warriors of Chaos was the most popular army next to High Elves back in the day, so I could also have seen them do an Empire vs WoChaos box if they hadn't been so unusually quiet about them.

I'm in the Empire Vs Orcs camp, due to that rumour of the old O&G range returning with a new Orc Boyz, Wyvern and Pump Wagon plastic kits. New Orc Boyz seem perfect for a launch set.

I must respectfully disagree with you sir @Gareth 🍄, if only because we've gotten teasers for every faction besides green skins for TOW so far.

This is from a stream today. Valrak still claims that it is Bretonna vs. Tomb Kings and has been saying this for a while now. And so far his track record has been pretty good (too bad he cares nothing for SIgmar lol).

Personally I would find it really weird that they been throwing those two factions at us and then would randomly reveal two other factions as the starter lol.

I'm very happy to hear everyone's opinions about what you bet the launch box will be! I'm a bit surprised about the Empire vs. Orcs suggestions as although nostalgic (6th edition launch box right?) there's not much to suggest Orcs. Empire vs. Empire is also much likelier than some think - why else would GW have put the setting at a point when Empire was in civil war as opposed to set it during Storm of Chaos or the Current Year of 8ths start.

Good. Valrak is fun with his tinfoil hat and Bri'ish accent but he's also a bit of a ****** sometimes, him keeping out of AoS is probably for the better for us. Granted, it would be nice to have a big Warhammer YTber doing AoS content. Just not Valrak.

But that's a whole other debate.

Brets vs TK would be also a big PR move by GW. "Look, to show you we are committed to the return of the Old World, we are putting the 2 factions we put down after End Times front and center". It would show the old fans there is investment in TOW, and also make them redeem themselves in their eyes.

Pulling this out of nowhere but maybe they could have a big Brets Vs Tomb Kings launch celebration set and then have a smaller Empire Vs Orcs starter set sometime afterwards.

In theory they will be throwing a lot of the old models at players and they should have rules for several factions at the start? Could see them having several starter sets being sold in pretty quick succession. Throw in the rumors of all the Cities units being cut on top of that.

The something big coming this later year....is about TOW?
Or just generally speaking considering gw as whole?
Unless that "shake the foundations".....
dreadquake mortars? :P

It could be anything, from Epic 40k to a new Battlefleet Gothic… like apparently everything is coming out this year.

But epic or BFG are not that big to shake things tbh.
It seems linked to tow but seems too strange as already TOW is "shaking the things up" as whfb got "ressurected".
Seems something bigger than just a specialist coming back(but tbh even an old army coming back is not that "shaking").
