You can probably find out. Just look at the April releases on the BL webpage. Both the Khul novel and the new Steve Parker Deathwatch eBook have the increased price.

I checked on my phone and the Khul novel seems to be £9.99 still!

Hurrah!

AoS will be getting an 'index astartes' style segment adding new sub-faction rules like what we got with crimson fists this month.

The new rules section will alternate between AoS and 40k. So 40k got crimson fists this month, next month sees AoS get a new stormhost.

On the back of the January White Dwarf there is a photo of some Stormcasts models from the Hammers of Sigmar Stormhost (notably all of the named characters) under the title "Next month - the Tome Celestial: the Hammerhands", maybe are they the ones that will be expanded?

It's not like Hammers of Sigmar needs more stuff (and I play them a lot so belive me).

Looks like some AOS subfactions might get some attention. This is from "Garro" on Facebook who attended the event:

"General white dwarf news.

Specialist games and forgeworld will have content going forward in the 'non 40k/aos' section. Necromunda battle report coming soon.

AoS will be getting an 'index astartes' style segment adding new sub-faction rules like what we got with crimson fists this month.

Regarding 40k, these rules will not be locked to only loyalist chapters but will include chaos and xeno factions; basically anyone with a sub-faction rule will be looked at in time. (Remember there will only be six new sub-faction per game system each year and Loads of armies to cover.)

WD team excited by the suggestion to look at the FW chapters that use to have rules like the badab war chapters.

Also there will no longer be a 'new releases' section at the beginning as the community site has that covered."

Being kinda new to WD here. But how official is those extra rules articles for AOS? If I recall old WD stuff was usually optional.

Is there any news on the prices for the upcoming troggothn sets?

I would suspect the Rockgut to match the Fellwater around $50 USD.  The Dankhold is probably gonna be a little bit more than that, but hopefully not too much considering it seems to smaller than I originally thought.

We'll know mid next week when retailers get the prices.

Well, I was totally wrong. Three months? We made it just over three hours 🤣
(I am only messing about, but this is the exact kind of thing I foresaw,  before you know it the badmoon will have spoken to me, once!)

Deathrattle and Deadwalkers existed before LoN and they are also mentioned in the Souls Wars book as separate factions. May mean nothing but worth noting...

I am well aware that Deathrattle, Deadwalkers and Deathmages existed as seperate faction before (and still sort of do, just without any allegiance effect whatsover). However, lately I have mostly seen them grouped together and at the very least Deathmages and Deadwalker would be pretty hard pressed to fill out an entire current day battletome.

I would have liked to see Deathrattle by themselves, as I really liked their lore in early AoS, but if they get grouped with the other two like Gloomspite Gitz or Beasts of Chaos treated their factions, that should be alright.

More than anything, I want to see something completely new for Death and something that makes more use of the design elements of the Endtimes Models, old Tomb Kings and recent decorative art pieces than of the old Vampire Counts aesthetics. So more glorious visions of the power of Shyish or the faded Age of Myth less gothic horror, rusted weapons and thrown together gear (Chaos and Destruction already do plenty of the latter two already). But if we ever see something like that, it looks right now like it would be way, way of on the timescale.

GW I think cleaned up their store, but I think it was partly just moving small subfactions into groups based on species. eg all the Aelves got lumped into one group and its very unlikely that GW would take the remains of all three (high, dark, wood) and put them into a single army or even army book like Grots.

I think it was purely done to simplify the store appearance and shouldn't be taken as gospel in terms of what future releases might look like.

Many of the subfactions have lore and books and stories about them, however we've no idea if GW will split them off as their own armies or make them into combined or even just quietly drop them. There are also some oddities - eg many thought Sisters of Silence would be added to Custodes (in 40K) and they weren't; whilst many also thought the Privateers would join the Idoneth but, again, they didn't.

The new White Dwarf confirms in the intro that all the rules in it are 100% official going forward

Well thats kinda a two edged sword I guess. On one hand it sounds cool to keep WD as a sort of a living rulebook and way to get fast expansions, but on the other hand, I am bound to miss some important stuff unless you subscribe. Also, bringining more books to games is usually equal to longer more tedious games. Hope Im wrong here, though.

If the rules prove popular enough they will either give us the yearly compendium (like in 6th ed) or if they are super popular, things like new sub factions will see a print version of the battletome.
I highly doubt they will be filled with rules that you have to drag a years worth of white dwarf around with you. Sounds more like we are getting some rules that you can choice to use if you happen to like them,  which means at most a copy of white dwarf instead of a battletome.

Also it probably is their way of trying to get people to subscribe. I only buy white dwarf when it had something interesting in it, this seems to be a common thing now where as before people would just blindly subscribe because it was cheaper. With the all the review videos now, white dwarf is all over the net before most people even get their copy, so there is just no need to sub, just watch sites spoil the whole thing and buy if you wanted to keep something from it.

There are a few factions that I think don't have any lore whatsoever besides being in the Grand Alliance books. From memory as a editor in the Lexicanum they are:

  • Order: Darkling Covens, Order Draconis and Order Serpentis.
  • Chaos:  Daemons of Chaos.
  • Destruction: Firebellies, Gitmob Grots and Maneaters.
  • Death: none

The Sourbreath Troggoths are gone forever I guess? Not that I miss them just curious of how some stuff disappears... Does ForgeWorld update quite soon after a release or they slack a bit behind? I have seen only few updates per year so not sure if they are going to update the models they currently sell to include them in the Gloomspite alliance.

@Rogue Explorator I agree, seems unlikely Death is getting a new faction soon considering Nighthaunt and LoN last year and Flesh-Eater this year, but in the books they are throwing mentions of separate armies. Deathmages I think are gone but Deathrattle appears in many books and in Souls War there is a queen of zombies with her own party. There’s also some dark sylvaneth would be wonderful to see on the Death side :)

I suspect that anything significant will eventually be put up on the website as a PDF - that's what they did, for example, with the Chaos and Genestealer Cult Necromunda gangs

The largest pain in the ass about the webstore is that when models are removed, so are their warscroll links.  So if I had a few goblins and/or wolf riders from older editions of gaming but haven't got into AoS yet, I can't get the warscroll for free for them anymore.  Kind of a bummer.

So yesterday I finally spent a pretty sizeable chunk of time downloading every warscroll I could think of that I might want to get field someday in my skirmish games if I am going to finally get into AoS Skirmish, especially for the older model kits like Greenskinz, Dispossessed, Free Peoples, and Ogres.

Luckily the Orc Warboss is no longer available, but still has the download link, so I nabbed it.

They already updated the scroll with the Gloomspite keyword, so you can take all the squig unit, the Troll hag, and the bonegrinder into a gloomspite army

The warscroll pdfs are still active, even if the shop page itself was turned off.

I keep a list of those links on here: http://whfb.lexicanum.com/wiki/List_of_Warhammer:_Age_of_Sigmar_units

Every link, including Gitmobs, should be working still.

EDIT: Feel free to nab them. It's always good to have backups.

Warscrolls still seem to stick around in the app if that helps- wolfriders are there under gitmob for example

Interesting thing they renamed few things in the website as well  but not the Grot warboss that does not appear in the list of Gloomspite. Its warscroll it’s also the old one. Any idea if it has been renamed to something else or it’s an errata of the battletome?
