  1. They're referencing the latest Broken Realms narrative.
  2. Do we know what this happy little chap is? He comes in the Cursed City box but I don't remember seeing him in any of the previews before now.
  3. Bit more info on the quest structure! https://www.warhammer-community.com/2021/03/29/outrun-a-horrifying-tide-of-pure-death-magic-in-cursed-citys-journeys/?utm_source=Twitter&utm_medium=Twitter&utm_campaign=CursedCityDeathMagic29Mar21&utm_content=CursedCityDeathMagic29Mar21
  4. Yeah I think I'm going to wait too. Really love this set but it'd just be another huge project I don't have time for right now! Does seem like it should stick around for a while, though I'm a bit worried about the expansions considering how fast those came and went with BSF - I don't want to feel like I have to snap those up or miss out forever... Price-wise I've pretty much been predicting £120 from the start. It seems more than fair to me, and I'm glad GW stuck to that rather than massively jumping up in price like they have with a few other boxed games recently. For the amount you get in the box it's good value IMO. Cheaper than a unit of Lumineth Bladelords at least!
  5. For Death, you'll want to wait for the upcoming release of Soulblight Gravelords - basically the faction of vampires and skeletons is getting a huge overhaul with loads of new miniatures in the near future.
  6. Huge events that affect the whole setting. Arguably even bigger than Morathi.
  7. I get what he's saying but it sounds like some very spurious 4D chess to me. Apart from anything else it's based on the idea of The Old World being some huge success - maybe it will be, but we're currently so far out from that that we don't even know what kind of game it is yet, let alone how popular it might be. Would Citadel really make huge decisions about both the Age of Sigmar model range and the rules based on their fear of a game that's still years away? And what kind of larger strategy does that end up being, if GW as a whole ends up having two separate games in separate universes that overlap more and more year by year? I think Occam's Razor here suggests that the more likely explanation for AoS having more Warhammer Fantasy influences lately is just that a) the designers probably have a fondness for it like the fans do, b) have now been operating for a few years under a management that is rather less hostile to Warhammer Fantasy, and c) may be reacting somewhat to the very vocal parts of the community who are still very pro-Fantasy and anti-AoS, hoping to please everyone. To go from that to 'AoS 3.0 is going to be Bretonnians vs classic Orcs & Goblins with rules as close to Warhammer Fantasy as possible' seems like an enormous leap to me.
  8. Huge pinch of salt required here IMO considering he then goes on to say he thinks AoS 3.0 is going to be Citadel making AoS as close to Warhammer Fantasy mechanically and narratively as possible as a ****** you to Forge World for the success of The Old World, a game that hasn't even come out yet. I'm not familiar with this guy generally or how reliable he is but he sure seems to be talking some hot nonsense on this stream. I could see a new chamber/reimagined Warrior Chamber of more knightly-styled Stormcast. To be honest you could argue Sacrosanct were a bit that with the tabards and stuff, and it just seems like a natural theme to explore with a faction that's made up of essentially armoured knights. But explicitly Bretonnian-themed? No way. People always seem to see this stuff through an Old World lense, regardless of how it's actually intended - see all the people who were convinced Bonereapers were going to be Tomb Kings just because they're an army of bone constructs.
  9. Honestly 'Bretonnian-themed Stormcast' is like a fake rumour I'd make up to make fun of wildly unlikely internet rumours. About as probable as them being up against Khemri in the 3.0 starter set.
  10. Guys can we please make a separate thread for moaning/arguing about Lumineth rules? It's taking over this thread to a ridiculous degree. We can't have 3 pages of bickering every time Warhammer Community post one rule from one unit.
  11. I think if you guys are keen to keep chatting about the Lumineth rules you might need to move it into its own topic at this point.
  12. I like that this is in here - if I recall correctly, there was no permanent levelling up in Blackstone Fortress. Though it seems quite light/limited - no choices and it only takes 5 runs to max out. Though I guess you're probably expected to jump between different characters.
  13. I don't think so - the design of that spiked ring bit is way too crude and battered to be Idoneth. Doesn't match their refined elven craftmanship aesthetic at all.
  14. I'm sure there are ways to justify it lore wise - I'm just saying for me it doesn't line up aesthetically.
  15. Interesting that her weapon looks very similar to Radukar's - has that same look of being really corroded and worn and basically looking like nothing special, despite being a powerful magic sword.
  16. I love these creepy Ulfenkarn vampires - this one and the Rat Prince. But they feel like a different aesthetic to the more generic vampires we've seen for the rest of Soulblight. I wish the Blood Knights for example were as weird and interesting as these.
  17. Yeah I'm definitely in the same boat as several of you - normally find Bonereapers really goofy looking, but this guy looks fantastic, really grim and gothic. I hope the rest of the warband are this cool!
  18. I bet they'd only show off one Underworlds warband in a preview, which definitely makes me think the figure on the left is Soulblight.
  19. Yeah - it's a totally inconsistent detail. In that Warhammer Community article, they even put a card underneath where the art clearly shows the Saurus with a totally different chest - not only no nipples, but a big ridge instead of a six pack. I know it's nitpicky but it's a really bizarre mistake IMO.
  20. At first I loved this art. Then I noticed the nipples...
  21. You really need to keep in mind how long these licensed projects take. A video game for example could be in development for three years or even longer. That's why we're only now seeing AoS games start to come about - it's only in the last few years that AoS has started to grow into something more appealing to developers vs just sticking with Warhammer Fantasy. I think the answer to all of this is 'give it time', really. Warhammer Fantasy and 40k had decades to build up a fanbase and brand recognition. AoS has barely gotten started. It's going to take time for it to find its audience. Especially given how rough it launched - there's a lot of people out there who still hate it on the basis of stuff around its initial launch that isn't even the case anymore, or because of the way the End Times was handled. I mean, I was even in that boat myself at one point, I thought for a long time that AoS was just that game with no points where you got bonuses for doing a little dance before your attack roll or whatever. As long as GW hold the line, it'll grow in popularity year on year and gradually become more and more of a presence outside of the tabletop sphere. The only thing that gives me pause is The Old World. I can't help but think that project will serve to rile up all the anti-AoS people and stoke the fires of resentment about the end of WHFB. Whereas I think the best thing for AoS is for GW to fully commit to it as their fantasy game.
  22. Yeah as I say I remain cynical about the release date for this one. I think it's safest to assume it'll be a while yet and be pleasantly surprised rather than getting excited and then disappointed every weekend!
  23. Well, at least this new article tells us it's 'not long now' until Cursed City is released. Still a bit skeptical myself but does seem to suggest it should be at least within the next month or so... https://www.warhammer-community.com/2021/03/09/the-gorgeous-environments-that-bring-the-cursed-city-to-life/
