The Rumour Thread

I do not even know where to begin… This is such an exciting news! I really miss the “regimental” structure of WHFB and the story line that I could relate too (who didn’t like Kemmler or Settra). Recently I assembled around 2000 points of FEC with custom bases and all but I found myself hesitant to proceed with the project. Each time I look at them I keep thinking about Strigoi themed army an WHFB…

As I mentioned previously, I suspect that the models are going to be on round bases but mounted on square regimental movement trays. Similar to what GW did with LotR. Releasing a new game for square bases wouldn’t make much sense. It might alienate players who committed to AoS. I expect to see new armies as well… Granted, the Mortarch of Grief is an AoS charecter but I can totally see an undead army of wraiths led by a Banshee in the old World.

The biggest questions that I have – what would be done for “discontinued” models/armies. Would entire HE range be re-sculpted and re-released? Would they bring TK sculpts back?

Would they bring a DOW army back from oblivion (considering that announcement map has Estalia and Tilea centered right in the middle of the map)? Too many questions….

I often see the "WHFB players burning their armies" line used. Sometimes in a light-hearted or bantering kind of way, and sometimes a bit more dismissively/snobbishly.

Genuine question. How many cases were there of this happening around the WHFB/AoS changeover? I am not having a go, as I don't know the answer (it could be loads, or could be one - I genuinely don't know).

I always got the impression that it was like politics, where you take the worst of the "other side" and claim that they are typical of that side.

I believe there was one person who set fire to a dark elf army in a video on Youtube, so at least one real case. I think it was blown out of all proportion though. I know a lot of people who stopped playing fantasy after that, but none who actually got rid of the armies, or swore they'd never touch the hobby again. Most just ended up only playing 40K.

It's kinda funny seeing AoS getting upset about this in the same way oldschool Fantasy players were upset about AoS. Only difference is that AoS isn't getting deleted for this to happen.

Naaaaaaaaaaaaa. I can count with my two hands all people that are upset. And even that, they are not just crushing the Old World and moaning how bad it is.
But I can  copy & paste more than 100 posts insulting how bad is AoS and the people that plays it.

Btw, I'm an AoS fun and I can't wait for The Old World!!!! I hope to see new minis!.

Gotta say, this is far more interesting than anything set in the age of myth, which was really only ever written as a pre-age of chaos backdrop for all it was fleshed out in AoS 2.0.

If it's anything like old WHFB I won't be playing it (rules, size of armies, etc) but it's good to see the old setting get attention, it really did have tremendous depth. It also makes for less of a glaring hole for anyone who's coming at it from Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, Vermintide or the eventual three Total War: Warhammer games. I'd be surprised if it wasn't the massive popularity of the last two that gave them the push to get on this.

Warhammer Total War was stated to be three games, then a full stop. This could coincide with the later parts of Warhammer 3, to cash in on people that are fans of WHTW, but are at the end of their game.

Then again, GW might have looked at the cashflow generated by Warhammer Total War and decided that the series may continue.

I think this announcement might be a bit to early. With something big like this, I think it would be better to give out as much information as possible from the word go, as it intruduces a lot of uncertainty.

Not necessarily against it though, I've been thinking AoS Legends might become some sort of specialist game eventually. I'll wait and see, I likely wouldn't transition back to the old world, even for an aditional system, but I always appreciate nice bits and conversion fodder.

I mean at this point whose counting down to the end times of AOS cos it seems like that will definitely happen at some point now. Probably relatively soon.

Also this means no chance of new cities of sigmar models within the next three years for sure.

Yeah, that's why they teased new hysh-related AoS releases at the end. Sure.

lol

Yeah, no. GW has pushed AoS massivly this year and they increased their profit as much as in an 40K centric year. So AoS is, most likely, selling very well.
