Just a nudge folks, but things went off the wibbly wobbly path of the Rumour Topic yesterday about retcons and the moderators had to cast moderator spells to get things back on track. Lets get back to rumours ;)

It is curious that the Order option was Yndrasta. I heard that is a bit boring. For the other three, I only heard nice words. Especially from Godeater’s Son.

I would only call it "boring" if you're expecting a battle ****** type of novel? It's an extremely interesting and insightful character novel--for BOTH Yndrasta and the human tribe it follows. I actually appreciate that it's a slower BL novel. Very true to form for a novel about hunting 😂

I do hope this signals a Spiderfang refresh. That would be very much needed, the whole subfaction is only 3 kits and 1 gets removed. I can see the Arachnarok staying. I could see Spider Riders updated along with a brand new hero (a named hero would also be very welcome) and maybe a new unit to round out the subfaction. A unit of half transformed spidergitz or some kind of web shooting unit. This could also be a great new home for the Spider Incarnate.

i would LOVE to see creepy crawly Spider Gitz come back with an AOS vengeance. here's hoping.

It's been 3 years and my memory is failing me; how much actual information do the faction focuses typically give us?

A brief faction overview and one or two rules? Maybe a warscroll, or a select ability or weapon profile?

I don't recall much from the previous faction focuses which tells me that there wasn't much to remember.

I feel like they have done a decent job with lore to keep Spiderfang within the GSG family. Spiderfang just dwell in the dark places on the surface instead of underground, and they both share a proclivity for poison.

From a gameplay perspective, I also appreciate the different movement options that Spiderfang can offer. Hope we get updates to them instead of squatting, as I still like them even if they are my least favorite GSG models and theme currently.

I agree with the lore part. I think they fit within GSG nicely but i could also see them elsewhere. They will always be my favourite clan of greenskinz and i hope they dont get squatted, but things arent looking very bright. Also the lack of Whitefang reactions on this topic worries me a bit.

The 2.0 focuses were pretty slight, buuut that was partly because the move between 1st and 2nd edition wasn't that large rules-wise.  This time around I'm expecting they'll at least show a couple of the battle traits and spells/etc, maybe a warscroll or two.

I don't collect Ogres, but think they belong in the mortal realms setting. They have been a bystander for most of AOS and think having them be the powerful opposing force for the 5th edition launch would be cool. They could also show up at the end of edition campaign similar to how FEC got a revamp with model and lore.

What I wonder after seeing the WarCry ones - will Ogors in general become more monstrous? The classic Ogor looks like a giant powerlifter (well, a very unattractive interpretation of one) but the new ones reminded me more of something like ghouls on steroids. I‘ve got no real opinion on or preference regarding Ogors but those minis made me think that the ones closer to humans will just be part of Cities and the Mawtribes might become more „unique“ in appearance? Barbaric traits are pretty much Darkoath‘s thing now so perhaps GW wants to reinvent Ogors a bit? 🤔

Would Ogor fans like that or not is what I‘m basically asking myself…

What do people think the over/under is on the core rules being leaked from the book before the May event? If people will be demoing 4th by that time I imagine we'll know everything by then anyway.

Those were Gorgers; they've always looked monstrous. The new ones for Warcry were very nice models but kept pretty close to the existing Gorger aesthetic, tbh.

Ah punga. I have some truly excellent night runners from them but when I bought them at least it was such a gamble. Their customer service was like "yeah send the money to this random PayPal email and you'll get your minis eventually"

They were right and totally worth it but it felt risky lol.

to keep this relevant: I really hope if the 40k show does decent, it will cement AOS as a heroic, nobledark high fantasy. GW can't be ignoring the sheer amount of money that DND makes as essentially the same type of setting.

If the 4th edition is successful and we keep growing, at some point we will get more love over HH, which seems to be receiving more than us (novels, shorts and all that kind of stuff) even being a specialist game.

Is that a new kind of spell lore?!

You can use one of the 40k ones to get a rough idea: Warhammer 40,000 Faction Focus: Astra Militarum - Warhammer Community (warhammer-community.com)

The same applied to indexes.

I have the same question. That distinction on the Cities of Sigmar unit saying they were Ogors V2 feels a bit weird like if they wanted to draw the line V2: Good, Human-like. V1: Whatever they want to approach them.

yeah... I'm starting to wonder if this lull is because of 4e being a "reforged edition" of AOS? like redoing more aesthetics/factions than we think, so there's been less art or books of things that will get a new look soon.

It came out with this season's Moderator's Handbook, but it really just their normal spell lore reflavored.

Thank you! That's more or less what I'm hoping for with out upcoming FF articles, just a smattering of everything so we get a feel for what's to come.

I didn't think about it in that way, but yeah, it would make a lot of sense. Use this edition as a "reset" to establish the game closer to its "final form" and then put the marketing machine to work in all kind of ways.

I still think the spider fang are in the danger zone of being squatted from GSG, as they are present in the old world, and GW hates you being able to use models in two separate games.

If they get an updated model of some kind, or a revamp then they are completely safe and the current models will get siloed off into the Old World. If they don't then they will probably go the way of Bonesplittaz.

Thing is, if they were getting shipped off to old world exclusively, why wouldn't they do it at the same time as bonesplitterz/BoC/Gitz line cuts.

They are retiring old models in 40k wich each book release, so is not impossible to get more and more cutoffs throught the edition or revamping stuff to send old models to old world.
