  1. To my knowledge there is no crisis that would effect GW's profit hence the price rise. The only thing I can think of that would directky affect it, is the shipping of the books from China which have to pass through the Straight of Hormuz and due to attacks by the houthis, insurance has gone up. Unless GW use Grains or fertiliser (from Ukraine and Russia) or manufactured thier products in Myanmar theres nothing that warrants a price rise, especially since they have had record profits in recent years. A lot of companies are price gouging and blaming "riseing costs" even when thier bottom line hasn't shifted. A recent example in the UK is Heinz increasing thier prices of soup to rediculous levels blaming "the rise costs of manufactureing" and only when did some customers and the press start kicking up a storm did they miraculously realise they didn't need to increase prices anymore.
  2. One of the puzzeling aspects of the constant price rises, and the trends of less models in kits, is the new drive by GW to bring in new people and "Accsessability". 10th ED is heavily simplified and the Combat patrol exists so new players can buy a box and start an army from there, its exactly the same with the AOS spearhead boxes where these are designed to be marketed to new Players. But from the combat patrol the bar to getting to a 1000-2000pt list for aos or 40k requires a substantial finacial investment in the triple figure and for some factions (Admech, GSC and Guard) close to £1000. This isn't including buying tools which are heavily inflated, paints that seem to be immune to inflation the Books that are sometimes changed the day after release. GW knows that theres still going to be thousands of customers who will still blindly buy thier products and have done for years before, but the bar of entry is so high to get going for new people. When I was a kid I got the Lizardmen battalion for my birthday for £50, all i added was a Old blood for £6 and a priest for £4 and I had a functioning army. Nowadays a squad of Primaris Marines is edging ever closer to £50.
  3. GW can afford to sell the Imperium and stormbringer magazines at £9.99, which contain entire kits that are for the most part double the magazine price. I brought 2 Stormbringer magazines with the squig herd in for £19.98 where as if I went into a GW store I would be paying £65. Does the cardboard Box cost an extra £45.02 to make for two card boxes? They sell the magazines at this price, because 1. it brings in new people and 2. thier sales department calculated that they will still make a profit despite selling them at a "discount". This is just straight greed on the part of the stakholders and Upper management. GW will get away with it as well, since people will still fork out to buy the newest models, and we will probaly get another price increase next year.
  4. 1. Fryeslayers battletome with new Foot hero "Burnprye-grudge father" 2. SoulBlight Gravelords with 2 new androdegnous Vampire foot heroes 3. Cities of Sigmar 2nd wave with new launch Box, squatting entire Dawnbringers range and doing the Caliis and Toll Cities infantry instead. 4. Khorne - New mortal Foot lord who isn't a priest, and has no shirt on. 5. Ogre Mawtribes - One female Tyrant "Busty-belch Big Melons"
  5. Warhammer fest was most likely a one off or a trail to see if they were going to make it a yearly thing. It was also the big release of Thier flagship IP and AOS Isn't popular enough to warrant a big expensive live event. I went last year, and it wasn't that great, aside from tournaments there wasn't a whole lot to do over 3 days, loads of unused empty space, the seminars had ques going into other rooms with people queuing an hour early to get in, and people were just taking stuff without paying from the shop. Saw a guy grab 6 packs of the objective markers and just walk off.
  6. Hopefully that means we will get proper seige rules to go with it.
  7. Probaly just easier to animate a expressionless mask for a quick scene, then some guys angry face.
  8. I'm liking the Valkyire/ Ancient greek vibe with them, with the "Grimdark" chainmail and tassles. They look miles better then the old chunky ones and don't look like they will fall over when placed on a slight incline. going off this and the last few boxes that means the tormcast side of the box will be. The lord of big bird (as the centre piece model) 1 0r 2 foot heroes 10 Liberators 3 of those dudes with shields 3 prosecutors "MAYBE" some ranged unit of 5. Skaven will probaly be Claw lord on the rat monster the big Rat Ogre the leaked heavy weapon Warlock engineer with Rife Warplock Jezzails 40 Clanrats Another unkown hero.
  9. 85!!! 85 for the darktide game!!!!! The game better be amazing to justify that price for 9 models and some card pieces.
  10. Sell scrap to humans. Stab humans in the back. Take back scrap. Profit.
  11. I still think the spider fang are in the danger zone of being squatted from GSG, as they are present in the old world, and GW hates you being able to use models in two separate games. If they get an updated model of some kind, or a revamp then they are completely safe and the current models will get siloed off into the Old World. If they don't then they will probably go the way of Bonesplittaz.
  12. Silent People were never going to be a releash of any kind imo. They were always background fluff to add some depth to the lore like the fish people in WHFB were. Chorfs i reckon will be next year as a big army release, and Malerion will probaly come as a revamped edition to DOK around the same time Tyrion and the rest of the Lumieth will appear, as the contuination of the WHFB rivalry has been hinted at strongly in aos.
  13. Theres always a disconnect between the lore and the tabletop and for the sake of rules balance and gameplay thats probaly for the best. Stormcast are literally fully covered in enchanted armour, so random goblins with sticks, steelhelm swords, skeleton spears, Dryad Stick hands and hell, even Darkoath swords should just slide off the armour. Some Goblin swinging a sword at a Ghost should do absolutly nothing, but that would just ruin balance in the game.
  14. It looks to be a simply way at identifying units and thier roles. Standard Kroxigors are alredy better at taking out hordes of infantry whilst warspawned are better at taking out more elite units or monsters, so all this does is bake a couple of key words into thier warscrolls. I'm all for this tbh, and I like the more specialised unit direction they seem to be going in. I'm hoping that they keep a couple of all rounders though. Stone trolls should hit hard against anything, be able to take a hit, but be slow and "stupid" andf maybe struggle against mass hordes. I hate battleshock to, so I'm glad its going away and that retreat is now a thing. If its implemented well then it should make the big moshpits and multi unit combat way more interesting.
  15. Remember how when 10th Edition 40k released there was that narrative campaign where player would decide who won between the Ultramarines and Tyranids fighting over that planet? I reckon Helcrown will be 4th editions version of that. Will Helcrown fall to the Skaven or will the stormcast drive them back? You decide!! (Only £120)
  16. They would probably fit pretty well with the Cities of Sigmar units, which is probably intentional.
  17. I like the new gothic Dark Fantasy style for these stormcast, but I do kind of agree. I really enjoyed the Romano-Greek art deco aesthetic of some of the early AOS art, and it's a shame to see some of it phased out. The old decorated bases and 1ed terrain is all gone now. That being said, the dark fantasy visuals alongside that does work very well, even If it's partially die to the success of games like Elden ring and Dark souls.
  18. If the Horns of Hashut are the direction the AOS Chaos Dwarfs will be going in, then I thier design will be leaning into a more industrial/ West Asian style rather then the fire, Babylonian and corrupted dwarf style from the Old world. Having a load of fire motifs would mean they class to much and almost visually become a dark version of the Fyreslayers, which unless thats the direction GW want to take them, from a marketing and "casual entry player" perspective they clash too much. Hopefully they keep the old theme, where you take a smaller force of Chaos dwarfs and loads of worthless hobgrots chaff. That would allow to play a small elite army of just dwarfs, a mix of dwarfs and hobgrot servants or a massive swarm of chaff whos job it is to die whilst the elite artillery and weapons tae out the big threats. Imo if its the like the first Lumineth release, they will get 4 heroes, a battleline dwarfs unit, hobgrot chaff, an arty peice, some elite heavy infantry and a centrepeice unit. The rest would come out a year or two later.
  19. A Marvel style Multiverse for warhammer would honesty be really lame.
  20. Sisters jetpack HQ tactical wall for the base.
  21. Not sure if it's been posted yet, but another Skaven model leaked today. Apprently it arrived in a guys Malcador Tank box from GW.
  22. The battle forces sell really well every year, so they've probably realized that they can make a bunch of money of bringing out big discount box sets.
  23. Imo Idoneth and Kharadron were the first truly unique AOS army to be released, that weren't based off a theme from WHFB. Fyreslayers are just dwarf slayers with added fire and 'Rune Gold'.
  24. I think this can be applied to a lot of AOS factions, because in first most came from existing old world armies, or were built up from a particular theme within an army eg. Nurgle , seraphon or Slyvaneth. Sylvaneth will always be linked to the 8th edition wood elf treemen and Dryads models because they were the foundation, and made up most of the army when they became Thier own faction. Even the newer models are still closely tied to the plastic treemen. If they went in a jungle or palm tree direction for the new sylvaneth they would clash with the existing range. Luckily they are pretty easy to convert anyway. Nurgle for example still have the Norse aesthetics of the old world, from the end times when they could of done them in a Mongolian, west African, 17th century, Asian or whatever theme.
