    The Hag!

    By Eevika

The Troggoth Hag is definitely a piece I believe every Troggoth army needs. It's amazing as a model and amazing on the table. I rarely do such detailed eyes and faces but when working on a model that is the centrepiece of your army you want to spend some extra time just to make it special. This is surely the best work I have ever done on a models face and I think there is just a lot of character and emotion on the model.  My smaller Troggoths are just green and blue but for t

Savage Arrowboys

The Arrowboys are slowly getting their paints on. I kept the reddish-brown skin tone, green-gold aztec style and still couldn't manage with obsidian weapons. But I used GW green glaze for the frst time and liked it a lot - the "emerald" earrings are made with white base and green glaze. For savage orruk heroes I try to make some glazes myself and paint only with these.  View the full article

First stab at a Lord of Change

First of the Lords of Change completed. I've got the lord of change finished that I've been working on for the last couple of weeks. Couple of small conversions to change angles on the arms and neck, but otherwise its stock. Basecoating all done with spray cans which was a fun little experiment - just had to be careful when doing the purple on the wings and the legs. After that it's a lot of drybrush work. Some Sharpie highlighting too on the golds so that I could work away from the hobby desk.

Random Thoughts and a Game!

I find myself on my day off running errands and driving around listing to various AOS Podcasts talking about various subjects, From Scrubby and Wells educated discussions about Adepticon Prep, to my first time listening to Age of Sigbrah and getting the feeling that they are long time friends and a few beers in. I love how diverse the whole community is and how each can cover the same topic but from a different perspective and it feels totally new.  So i played a game the other day. with my

Pink Horrors

Evening, just a small progress update for tonight on my next unit the pink horrors. I started with a Vallejo grey primer followed by a base of GW Pink Horror all over. I then sprayed GW Emperors Children down from directly on top through to a 35 degree angle. I then gave all the skin a Fulgrim Pink dry brush before finishing the skin with a 1:1 wash of GW Baal Red (now carroburg crimson) and Lahmian Medium. They should see battle during week one of the Kirton Games Slow Grow event to take place

Bird-headed Magister

It's been a while since I revisited this army, but the release of the Tzeentch battletome has inspired me into adding more units. I liked the mention in the fluff that Tzaangor will brand chaos monsters like Cockatrice and Jabberslythe with their own marks (shame you can't do that in the game) So to get me started: a Tzeentch Magister with his head swapped for a Tzaangor (the severed head that comes with the Darkoath Chieftain)   The hunched posture and the claw-feet work well wit

How to find a venue

Finding a venue is the most central task of planning for your event. The location where you run the games will determine how many players you can allow to register and if you need to charge an entry fee. If you already have a club space or a friendly local gaming store, the venue may be relatively easy, and you just need to reserve the space, confirm the schedule for you event, and then move onto other planning tasks. But here are some tips for finding an event venue. CLUB SPACE OR LOCAL HO

The Archgeneral of Haton's Freeguild Regiment

Carlton Smiles-Pomley III got back on his horse, Ovaltine, for the third time. Bruised, bloodied and burdened by history, he was not in the mood for an inspection, but, as his forefathers had done umpteen times before, he knew his men expected their leader to ‘check the helmets’, as this tradition had become known amongst the free folk. Falling off his horse for the fourth time, Carlton decided enough was enough, and walked her the rest of the way to the parade ground. The town of Hatton, n

Bit of a Change... (WiP)

This is the current state of my Lord of Change, I have chosen a very different colour scheme that will match some of the details on the next lot of Marauders. I started with a Mephiston Red undercoat and then sprayed on the purple to the wing tips and the feet using a spray can rather than trying to blend it or worry about the airbrush. This made the initial base coat a lot faster to do.  The details were dry brushed up with wild rider red and Kislev flesh on the red which works nicely

Age of Sigmar Podcasts

With the release of Age of Sigmar in the summer of 2015 we saw a fracturing of our community. Players moved on to other games, quit wargaming all together, or embraced the new AoS system. This fracturing carried over to some of our favorite podcasts. Some started covering other games, quit podcasting, or stuck with the new edition of Warhammer fantasy. Some of the old guard that are still with us and include Garagehammer, CanHammer, HeelanHammer, Facehammer, and the Bad Dice podcasts. For me,

Pink Horrors in Grey camo

Just assembled this unit of Pink Horrors. I have been running back and forth in my head which might be better Tar pit unit to use. The thought process would be to use the Pinks to their full potential, Meaning 140 Points for the 10 man unit, 100 points for 20 Blue Horrors and 80 for 20 Brimestones for a total of 320 for the whole shebang. Getting this nasty little buggers out of there would take many turns. Now these guys aren't the most offensive of weapons but they can get in the way. The

Steel City Sigmar's First Event

This past weekend I was able to attend the first event for The Steel City Sigmar Series.  The event was hosted at Legions Hobbies and Games.  Organized by Bill Souza and acting as T.O, Mike Ryan.  I wanted to run down my games and give some of my opinions from the event.  I took Stormcast Eternals to this event using the Hammerstrike and Thunderhead formations.  I do want to mention that this club is separate from the local scene that I am trying to grow within my immediate area that has been th

Tlapaltecatl, Oracle of Azyr's Unflinching Gaze

Here is the completed model, ready for submission at the Ann Arbor Warhammer store's one-year anniversary competition. The theme was "hero" and had to be mounted on the base that came with the model. I'll admit, I stretched the base part a bit. As for the hero part, I love diminutive heroes. They don't always hold muster in actual game play but the aesthetic is so cool.

Adepticon

So Adepticon is my 1st event. I've been in the hobby for about 16 years and I have only played friends. I have also never painted a whole army until now. So here is some pics of my army I'm taking. Let me know what you guys think.

Let's Get Cracking.

Hey all.  Thanks for moseying on over and taking a gander. On the advice of the all-powerful Ben Curry, he of The Bad Dice Daily Podcast fame, I am starting a little blog here.  The hope is putting my thoughts and efforts here will motivate me to continue pushing toward my ultimate goal - completing an army. I have been playing Warhammer for about 8 years now, exclusively with close friends and family.  Never having played at a tournament and being in such a relaxed environment, there'

The Story so far..

Greetings all. First time blogger here. Been doing minis since the 70's. Then last year was very exited about AOS. I am a servant of Chaos and the gods I pray to are Khorne, and Tzeentch. I also have a good start on a Slave to Darkness army that will all have the Mark of Tzeentch. Currently I am building a very heavy Tzaangor list and here is my first pic. Going to be sharing my thoughts on this army construction all the way to 2000 points.
