    The Hag!

    By Eevika

The Troggoth Hag is definitely a piece I believe every Troggoth army needs. It's amazing as a model and amazing on the table. I rarely do such detailed eyes and faces but when working on a model that is the centrepiece of your army you want to spend some extra time just to make it special. This is surely the best work I have ever done on a models face and I think there is just a lot of character and emotion on the model.  My smaller Troggoths are just green and blue but for t

Skink Oracle and Troglodon base

The local Warhammer store is having their 1st Anniversary painting competition, so I'm painting up a Troglodon for the event. The theme is "hero" so the Skink Oracle on the back is the hero. So I'll be entering Skink Oracle (Suitably Aztec-sounding name), the Unflinching Gaze of Azyr. The oracle's body is the stock model from the Troglodon. I swapped the head for an old metal Skink Priest head. The head for the stock model suffers from the injection molding process, and doesn't have a lot o

Converted Nurgle Shrinemaster

To fit into my budget of Sigmar army I had to do a conversion of some sort on this model. I chose to create my own Shrinemaster figure. I took some of the leftover parts of one of the Maggoth lords as the top half. I glued some plastic sprue inside the body to act as a support post. I then cut the Shrinemaster figure in half and glued the pillar to his waist. The Maggoth Lord top half was quite a bit wider so I had to green stuff some more skin around the join to merge them all together, but I a

Building a Community : Part 3

Welcome to Part 3 of my "Building a Community" Series.  If you have missed Part 1 and Part 2, please check them out in the links below.  Today I want to talk about my local club’s tables, terrain, etc... I need to be honest with myself.  Building and painting terrain can be a chore for the common hobbyist, with the exception of a few notable exceptions.  When I go home to hobby I would rather build lists, paint, or convert models while catching up on Warhammer TV streams.  I could go on and on

Chracerocca

"Walking through the streets of Chraceroca the rhythmic chanties sung by the Ritus Squadras as they perform the work to keep the city safe and supplied, echo off the walls and mix with the sounds of passing carts and people's chatter. Built upon a spur of rock that rises out of the Spotted Plains and juts above the treetops of the bordering Great Rustlewood, Chracerooca imposes itself on the surrounding land. There are endless pulley systems, winches, and cranks, that lift supplies to the city,

Brutes

So I looked on the photos and fall in to depression, models I painted and was ok once you look on them on the table in the cruel but honest eye of camera are  well not that good. I know what I am doing bad, the transition of paints is bad. I am thinking of trying different mechanics for orruk skin first paint them bright green (with yellow) and then delude warbooss green with lamia to make a shade. Any way here are my Brutes, I am not fully happy with boss back I think I over did it with bl

Very Easy Lava Bases

I bought myself Gorechosen for Taxsmas (a traditional American gift giving holiday that occurs around February or April or whenever you get your tax returns), and decided that I would try out LAVA BASES!!!  I wouldn't post this tutorial unless I thought I'd come up with something I hadn't seen elsewhere.  After doing my research, I found a bunch of advice for doing lava, but nobody doing the super easy thing I had been envisioning, so I tried it, it worked, and I figured I'd share it with the wo

Floating Rock Bases!

Hi guys!     I wanted a way to make my weirdnob shaman to stand out on the tabletop, so I needed a suitably cool and magical looking base for him! I decided the best way to go would to  be to create a floating rock base! I think this technique is super easy any looks great! So I made a video to show you guys how to make one for yourself! Hope you enjoy and thanks for checking it out!

Chapter One - Wherin the hero remembers he was meant to be writing a blog with "regular" updates

Ok, so I maaaaay have forgotten to post my regular updates as  However, I managed to get a game in last week in the local GW against a Freeguild Aelves alliance - really interesting force that I'm looking forward to see how it grows. The game was a proper back and forth affair, and I just managed to seal the win, thanks to my Crypt Ghast courtier unhorsing his general in an honorable joust. Or at least, that's what the Courtier saw from his point of view! I snapped a quick photo of the army

Bloodthirster joins the Yellow Bloodbound

Well, after a ton of work, my Bloodthirster is finished. I have wanted to paint this kit for a year now and I finally got to it. I wanted to try the black based skin tone. It worked better than I expected and it made for some sick contrasts.  I used some techniques I've never tried, like filtering the colors near the bones on the wings with blood technical paints, which is a far departure from the blood spatter on the wing symbols.   i also sculpted some fire on the base and I am

Holy Wars 2017 - Part 7 - Game 2 [16-4] with Domus

It is rare to have a score so disproportionately reflect the thrashing one receieves from their opponent and yet this was one of those games.  After my big win against Walter, I was pushed up to the top tables where I squared off against Domus’ beautiful Ironjawz, whose images have been making the rounds these past weeks on social media. The objective for the Skaven Hunger Games table was fairly straightforward.  The main table objective was a sinking Belltower that needed to be garrisoned

Holy Wars 2017 - Part 6 - Game 2 [20-0] with Walter Duncan

I was fortunate to draw Walter for my Game 2 on Bugman’s Grudge because I was harboring a bit of a grudge against Walter myself.  During Holy Havok this last fall, Vince and I three way tied for Best Overall with Walter’s team and Sean Troy’s team (who I got to play in Game 4; more on this later).  Walter was playing his Ogre’s again, who had handly blown up (well, severely crippled) an unbuffed, 30 strong Chaos Warrior block at the top of turn 1 during our last showdown at Holy Havok.  I was ha

Most metal bloodsecrator ever!!

Having a few drinks, I decided to make a few conversions. I love the insanely metal Exalted Deathbringer with spear. What an incredible model ... that will never hit the table! To make it more of a table staple, I made the savage headbanger into a bloodsecrator. Then I went a step further to make the bloodglaive into a better looking weapon. I hate that Klingon look, so I made it more of a giant axe. Please let me know what you think.

The gang so far ...

Here is what I have so far. The Bloodbound models are recent and were designed to fit in with my precious models, which are more like the Soul Grinder and the Maulerfiend type model I have here. As I move through the Bloodbound, I'd love to share more of my work here.

Holy Wars 2017 - Part 5 - Game 1 [13-7] with Justin Simpson

At the prompting of my Warhammer Weekly cohost, I was grudged for my first game by one of our viewers.  I picked the Endless Desert table because of my love of Tomb Kings, although this was a bad move given Justin’s force.  Justin brought a regenerating ghoul-heavy Ghoul Patrol Flesheater force to a board whose primary objective was shoving the most bodies into an endless pit.  It also had a split deployment and a random placement for the secondary objective, which was a difficult setup for my b

Holy Wars 2017 - Part 4 - The Armies of Holy Wars 2017

In this post I'm simply posting the beautiful collection of armies that were on display at Holy Wars this year.  Holy Wars is a somewhat unique event in that only 2 awards having anything to do with gameplay (best general & best sportsmanship).  The other 4 awards granted have to do with the hobby, including a Best Unit Champion award, a Player's Choice pick of favorite army award, Best Army award (from the judge's standpoint), and the Hobby Hammerist award, which is the highest honor offere

Holy Wars 2017 - Part 3 - Pre-Event Warm-Up with Kenny Lull

Pre-Event Warm-Up – Kenny Lull of Combat Phase podcast – Invasion of Ghyran [Table 1]   I opened the event weekend on the night before the official event with a warm-up game with Kenny Lull of Combat Phase podcast fame.   Kenny has been playing straight Fyreslayers since last year and was on track to get his 100th game of pure Fyreslayers during the weekend event.  Kenny was also giving the new Fyreslayer points a test so I jumped at the opportunity to help him get to 100 games and try

Holy Wars 2017 - Part 2c - Tables & Scenarios 11-15

In this post, we finish our survey of the stunning tables of Holy Wars 2017, including the floating earth motes of Azyr and the scorched crust of Aqshy.   Table 11 –The Upside Down Battling in the warped reality of Tzeentch is ever changing and swirling in tremendous power. The Great Eye of Tzeentch is ever watching over the upside down. The main objective in this scenario is a series of take and holds of pillars strewn throughout the table, some pink, some standard.  T

Road to Adepticon : Part 2

Hello everyone!  This week I wanted to give you a short update on my Adepticon 2017 Preperation. Adepticon 2017 is now less than one month away and I am feeling the hobby crunch in full force.  This is not a new feeling, as I have experienced it before, although it feels just as stressful and fun as it always has in the past.  Perfecting my models, my list, and stashing aside those few extra hobby bucks for an impulse buy constantly occupies my mind. As you may have seen in my previous
