  1. Been doing this hobby for so long there are many memorable moments. One involved the luckiest dice rolling I have ever witnessed. One year GW ran their Grand Tournament as 3 events. A standard one, a unlimited one (only 5 players), and a open version. In the last game of the open version you switched armies and used your opponents army. I had brought Daemons and found myself using Dark Elves against them. I lined up some cavalry to charge a unit of 5 Flamers. They shot and rolled well to hit, getting 18. The to wound roll was as close to perfect as could be without being perfect. One 5 and seventeen 6s. My Flamers never worked that well for me.
  2. Being in the hobby a long time I have accepted that there is little certainty my faction will stay. And if it does I expect to have to get used to changes in how they play I would prefer not to. Feeling a bit bitter about the Beasts, but I have used the following only to see them fade and die. Some reappear to a degree. Beasts more than a whole army. Fimir a whole army. Chaos Dwarfs a whole army. Chaos Squats, not a whole army. And who remembers the Khorne Boyz and Stormboz. Sadly not a whole army.
  3. I use mainly Citadel mainly. Because of ease of access and use over many years. For those who say Citadel don't change their pots they do. Just not by much and never an improvement.
  4. Nothing Slaanesh should get the chop. After all I am planning to go back to Slaanesh from Beasts
  5. I was hopeful to almost end that the Beasts would stay. I used Quakefray at a recent tournament in Lenton. Talking to the event team (some I have know for many years) was uncomfortable when the future of Beats was mentioned. It was clear they were going away, but the events team clearly knew and had been told not to let on. I would like to think that when the move to Legends happens a revival with a new and different take would be announced. But no, that would be a pipe dream I have been in this game long enough to see many things squatted to reappear. My best hope is that by the time the move to Legends happens Chaos Dwarfs are back (confirmed at least?). The Ghorgons at least would be a good fit for the Siege Giants if they still exist.
  6. It has it's good and bad points. In general I like it however it can make for a truly bad game, at least for a couple of turns. I recently went to a tournament in Lenton. Being doubled turned turn 1 to 2 by Kroak and gang and having my army picked apart with almost no interaction was bad. My opponent was a good guy. This and getting past the double turn made the game good towards the end and so ok overall
  7. This doesn't look good, from today's Metawatch. "Ironjawz, Kruleboyz, Sylvaneth, Coalesced Seraphon, and Slaves to Darkness are all slightly trailing, so the studio have them earmarked for possible future changes." When BoC are right in the middle
  8. I watch a variety now and then. Battleshock and Season of War being two favourites. With the Old World around I have found many channels have switched, in part at least, to the Old World.
  9. I like monsters, magic and playing the weird and unusual. Picked Chaos in the 80s and stuck with it. Which branch varies. Currently Beasts being favoured.
  10. Playing, usually nothing. Painting and building. Normally some TV, videos, battle reports and such like. Nothing that I have to pay a lot of attention to the screen. So old movies etc. Sabaton, a Swedish metal band is on a lot lately.

  12. "8. K'daii, not sure they'd make the cut in their current form - perhaps if they were to become more mechanical, getting closer to the same aesthetics as the updated Hellcannon" This could be the case if they went back to some ideas they tried out many years ago. Before the Khemri first cam out Jervis J and Tuomas P attended an independent tournament and came with 2 trial armies as part of the development process. Khemri and Chaos Dwarves. Khemri winning out. The only thing I remember about the Chaos Dwarves was a stem powered dreadnought. Which I assume morphed into the Destroyer. Update the kitbash and give it some form of daemonic possession and we are good to go.
  13. I can't remember when they disappeared, but if you go back far enough yes they did.
  14. I voted yes for selfish reasons. I want some of my old chaos units/armies back. Chaos dwarfs. Fimir. Chaos Trolls. And if I am being greedy, a Zoat sub faction for Beasts. And yes I have been in this hobby long enough to have models for all and sizeable armies for the first 2.
  15. Have used it as a fun army, including in a local 1 day tournament. For max monsters I used 1 tzaangor shaman, 2 cygors, and 6 ghorgons. Only having 1 character for issuing orders is a limit. Tzaangor shaman's high speed helps. Matchup dependant. Swallowing multi wound models (elite cavalry and such) is great. A couple of 1 wound models, meh! Fun and visually great. Thinking of swapping out some Ghorgons and putting in some giants. And possibly a Cockatrice. Gone off these lately. Started a bad run 11 games ago, no 4+. Maybe another character.
  16. Beasts (Quakefray) Ghorgons and Cygor. Fun to field with 1 character, 2 cygors and 6 ghorgons!
  17. My memory tells me that Fimir were still Chaos at the start of AoS. I think the change came around the introduction of noble. At least since shortly after painting up my nobles my Fimir haven't accompanied any of my Chaos armies to battle.
  18. Thanks for the tip, I have been a bit disappointed in some GW alternatives I have tried recently.
  19. Haven't been to many events since before covid, but then I found smaller and one day events more likely to allow legends. Once had a TO come and check out my Preytons as he didn't recognise the name. I have used and seen Legends used in events at WHW, Fimir often with troll support for example. Once long ago I even managed to use a Great Spined Chaos Beast there, although it had to stand in as a Giant Spawn as the Beast never made it over from WFB.
  20. It has been some time since I have been heavily involved in the local scene, but I do have these suggestions on past experiences. Run a campaign with teams and try to get some balance of old/good players and new/bad players in each team. So if the good/old players want to win it is easier if they help their team members. This one depends on how set on their army choice the new players are. Help them pick a army that is comparatively easy to use and then help with the army selection. Picking one or two aspects to emphasise, gradually adding more. This can work well if there are two new players playing against each other so they can learn together. Make a challenge for the old players to help the new pick a army they can win with against a known, but good opposition. For example I once had a young, but good and experienced player who boasted about how good he and his army once and how only our best tournament players could beat him, true. Also a young new player who was loosing patience after several weeks of never winning. So I took up the challenge and provided a simple to use army gave a short explanation of how to use the army and left the new player to get his first win.
