Well I doubt your average peasant bloke from Shyish/Chamon/Ghyran is so dripped out. They look more lile wizards to me, they look very "arcane-y". I'd like to see them in mini form tho ! They represent their realms well.

they COULD be dripped out though... peasants had more than 1 set of clothes i'm sure; "peasant" implies the class of people who did own a parcel of land and the tools they used to work it, even if their local lord tithed them into poverty. the term "sunday best" comes to mind as well for the good clothes you wore to church/social functions. if they were also a cultural/spiritual/etc leader I imagine one could easily have the means for fancier drip like these pics.

Personally, I think these characters work well as tribespeople of the realms. The Cities of Sigmar are still actively recruiting humans from tribal societies whose ancestors didn't flee to Azyr in the age of myth, and those people make up a lot of the population of the cities. So I would personally love Warcry to explore what those "reclaimed" look like. We have to remember that Age of Sigmar is double post apocalyptic: First the Old World was destroyed, then completely new civilizations grew during the age of myth, and then those were destroyed again during the age of chaos. I would love to see all those indigenous cultures of the mortal realms represented on the tabletop, and I think the small warband format of Warcry is perfect for it.

I agree, we get this with a variety of Chaos warbands. The same for Order would be great.

hunter from empire are coming back. this will need some change to add female, aelf, duardin and my puppy:

Poopy-331-2-big-1-www-coupdecoeurfigurin

this hunter are too "clean" to my tastes, need a more "survivor" feel.

premise to an hunter foot hero ?

edit: this guys could be the perfect way to introduce halfling survivor to my army 🤠

I think this warband will be a hit for a lot of people. Cool ranger guys are always popular. It seems like there is degree of build variety to the kit, as well:

Good news is this new unit explicitly recruits from Reclaimed, better news would be hearing/seeing more units do this when the book comes!!!!

These look clean because they are professional soldiers IMHO; I thought they might be a Free Company analogue but I think the closer one would be Huntsmen with a melee buff.

I do hope we see a more Elite/armored Reclaimed unit that can show off more cultures of the Realms.

It's cool that they did the thing I was talking about before, haha. Although these reclaimed are a bit more integrated into the Freeguild than I was hoping.

Still, it's great that they are taking their own fluff seriously. I am super excited to see how it will all translate into miniature form.

And also btw, I talked about it a bit in the rumour thread, but I'm expecting a Cities Warcry band to come along the release. But as it's technically a specialist game release, it wouldn't be included in the mainline AoS range release.

I told you guys ! And it was right ! Maybe I should get in the rumour business alongside Whitefang now...

I like those guys. I prefer the bare heads over the helmets (more fitting for hunters to not wear armor) but I love these guys and their good boys. They look better than the Empire Hunters - I have those and I like them, but those new Wildercorps Hunters are better imo. Their faces are more characterful.

And ofc the doggos, nice reference to Mordheim.

I'm sure there's a bunch of overlap here with Bob's site, but I have to say. It's pretty crazy (and encouraging) to see so many people commenting that they're sad this release is only humans!!! https://war-of-sigmar.herokuapp.com/bloggings/6696

Well if you look close at one fighter in the vid she does appear to have aelven ears. Might be some more head choices in that flavor.

my favorite bits are the baroque critters. More walking fish because the magical sulphuric seas of Aqshy sped up that evolution, skull head for the chaotic hellscapes and little sock Dobby for the fey creatures even Berserk manga payed homage to.

Always a big win when we get to see the bizarre fauna & flora of the Mortal Realms to immerse us in the surreal magic of the realmscapes. 🍻 💫

They’re nice, yet too low fantasy to peek my interest. These would’ve fit into a Bretonnia army just fine.

In my opinion, it makes sense that the Freeguild is one of the more low fantasy factions in the game. But I agree: While the models are cool, I personally don't want to rush out and buy them day 1 like some of the others we have seen.

However, looking around online, these guy really click with some people who were previously not interested in the faction. I think that makes them perfect as a Warcry warband: You really can get only these guys, build a cool ~10 man squad out of them and play them by themselves. Throw in Hexbanes Hunters in there and you have a cool, little, thematic project.

The small critters look so much like medieval illuminations or Bosch paintings. I love all of them and will build and paint these before the actual models.

Also love the (half?) elven head, mixed units have long been a wish of mine.

As I‘ve said: They’re nice. If they‘d command dog-like creatures and not 1:1 copies of a real-life-dog-breed they‘d be amazing imo!

Dorrogs?

I thought this too, but then isn't the theme 'normal mortals of the realms' so perhaps their dogs should be normal mortals too.

I do love the variety of quirky little creatures appearing here and there across the range though.

If something comes to my mind when I see most of the new CoS models is Lethis. All that skulls ornaments are very Shyish like.

What do you think about having a different realm kit, like what the SE had in the first edition (if I am not wrong). Different style of shield ornaments. Maybe different banners and little details like the ones in the horses back. Even changing some of those ancestors skulls with something else more lorefriendly to each realm/ city.

It could be cool but GW have gone away from doing such thing in the modern era

and the AoS team don’t design their models to be modular enough for upgrade spure like 40K does, best chances is transfer sheets (which I assume CoS will get them but even those are rare for AoS kits in general)

In the communty post where the army box was announced they mentioned the box would come with four transfer sheets. Four!

I know asking for them to be different is way too much, but it is better than nothing.
