Predictions for The Not-Adepticon Studio Reveal

Recommended Posts

I'm adding a new prediction: A Wrath of the Everchosen type campaign book for Order vs Destruction with a bunch of new subfactions and so forth for Destruction, especially Gloomspite Gitz.

Order VS Destruction Siege of Excelsis would be my dream. Narrative could be Gordrakk assaulting Excelsis and almost coming out on top before the Lumineth show up and beat him back. At the last moment the ground begins to tremble and the Sons of Behemat arrive to smash against the defences. In the end Excelsis stands but is a fraction of its former glory.

-full sons of behemat

- a couple of new aelves units

-Scions of the flame for warcry

-They said there would be news from underworlds, but they showed daughters of khaine in GAMA, so i expect NEXT BLOOD BOWL TEAM!!!!!!!!

-For 40k full Fabius bile and maybe the next P.A.  too. Or teaser of new edition.

-"Big" Blackstone expansion.

- I suppose that something new in plastic from other games like Titanicus or Hobbit

- teaser of  a new specialist game?

By and large GW seem to have stopped doing new plastic kits to replace existing plastic kits - Chaos Warriors and Chaos Knight aside. And then that was weird because the existing kits are fine, like, if you’re going to update chaos models, do the marauders - between the marauder horsemen, 6 different cultist sets, ‘marked’ marauders like blood reavers, kairic acolytes and the Darkoath heroes and warband - surely the sculpts already exist.

Also eldar banshees, still plenty of aspect warriors to go at. plastic ranger in black stone fortress, again surely the sculpts exist!

But there’s more money in doing new armies than expecting all seraphon players to upgrade their saurus or Skinks to new sculpts.

I think the reveal will be:

- lumineth

- AoS campaign book

- scions of the flame

- psychic awakening + Fabius

- a new specialist game

Dont think sons will get a look in until after Lumineth hit pre-order.

I think Sons might get a tease - artwork, maybe part of new model. But I think that's why they split the preview shows.

I think they might put Lumineth up for pre-orders pretty soon, and then move to Sons of Behemat.

My predictions are

- Lumineth full reveal

- AoS book campaign book (like Wrath of Everchosen)

- Sons tease

- news about Underwolrds (new season?)

- Scions of Flame - War Cry season 2

- Wh40 next chapter of Psychic Awakening, but I think it's too little so I wouldn't be suprised by some big hit - like Fabius + Fulgrim.

- Blackstone Fortress Expansion

- Specialist Games stuff.

I'd love a full Sons of Behemat reveal, honestly we will only be getting 2 or 3 kits max, so why not unveil them?

Yeah Tau I think had a big design focus shift after launching. Originally I think they were going to be a creative motley army featuring the mech suits and fire warriors as a core; but then have lots of random xenos armies like Kroot, Vespid and others. Representing smaller races who can't standon their own, but can stand and survive when part of the Tau Empire. However the mech suits just took off in a really big way popularity wise (even FW has a lot of them on offer). So Kroot got sort of forgotten whilst Crisis battlesuits and such got updates and new sculpts and versions.

Eldar core troops are some of the oldest plastics along with some of their core vehicles like the Falcon. Meanwhile their asepct warriors which are sort of a half way between elite and core troops are all (barring the Aspect warriors and Banshee) finecast. So there's still a fair way to go for eldar.

I literally do not, and will not ever play Eldar (World Eaters only player), but it would make my year to see a full on rerelease of a full eldar army with 100% plastic all across the board. I would be so happy for Eldar players and then maybe it won't constantly be literally almost exclusively space marine players everywhere -_-

OTOH even if CURRENT, to use your example, Seraphon players don't buy the new sculpts a lot, it's practically a "new army" and a lot of people who wouldn't play them before might buy into them.

I literally refused to buy Havoks or Obliterators for Chaos when they were resin, or Khorne Hounds. As soon as all of the above came out in plastic I bought them all. There are some models I straight up won't buy due to their sculpts. Remember: Obliterators were DOMINATING the meta and one of Chaos Space Marine's best units. Still refused to get them until their new plastic models came out.

Welcome brother, I didn’t know that their was another World eater (mono khorne) player around this forums.

I actually thought that I was the only one refusing to play Khorne  with anything but except khorne models.

(considering how troublesome it is to survive even a singel round of shooting)

I think we will see the Lumineth revealed in full on Saturday alongside the next psychic awakening book.

In April we we see the Sons of Behemat and the first reveal of 40k ninth edition.

There will be a fair few extra things including war cry and the other specialist games.

A hope there are few genuine surprises but I will be happy enough just to see the models for the two upcoming factions.

A lot of people are excited for sons and I'm happy for them but all I can think of is the atrocious imbalance that knights brought to 40k and I view a similar army for AoS with trepidation. That much plastic costs a lot of money and I don't even begrudge them that the sons will probably come out overpowered. Every new army has to be tuned after its release into the wild. I just worry that selling an army of $100+ kits will have the suits too excited to let the actual game designers do their job.

On that note I do think they can get it right and I hope they do.

I actually expect more kits because nobody has mentioned the idea of things like half giant infantry (kurnoth hunter or armiger sized) or maybe mammoth mounted ballista? There is more available to giants than just giants.

I've always wanted at least 3 new kits. A fully modular Gargant kit with Standard, Armoured and Ranged versions. A Leader kit with the option of King Brodd, Chieftain or Shaman.

The third kit to be Half-Gargants as you mention in place of Armigers but I feel that the Aleguzzlar will actually fulfil this role.

And Scenery, in place of traditional scenery the piece will actually be a Pack Mammoth, loaded with armour and ammo that provides a buff to the Gargants with High Wounds low Saves. Alternatively the Mammoth could be used as a mount for the Cheiftan. There could be large Cave Bears that are used as almost Hunting Dogs.

As for gameplay I would hope that GW learned from their mistakes with the IK.

My concern is that GW didn't make any mistakes with IK in their minds since it probably made loads of money.

One problem comparing to Imperial Knights is that IK is not really a full army in the traditional sense. All of the models within it are featured in other Imperial armies. It's purely about double and tripling up on a specialist unit from another army and making them into a full army on their own. I'd wage a good few Imperial Knights armies are run by people who run Knights in their marine armies anyway and are just using IK as a means to get one or two more kits and to run them as a dedicated force on their own.

So bringing a Gargantuan army into AoS might throw its own spanners in the works if those models are totally unique to that army. It might create an army which has a slower start up from new players; but which might prove more popular as a second army for existing gamers. Who perhaps want a more elite army with fewer models; even if those models are very high cost.

The use of toughness values in 40k is part of why Knights are problem. No matter how balanced they are overall Knight lists are inherently skew as large numbers of units simply can't realistically wound them. The AOS system is much better designed for an army with only a few huge minis.

Indeed, between so many options to put a hurting on large models like concentrating mortal wounds, anti-monster bonuses, mass troop buffs, Endless Spells and using dangerous scenery to weaken monstrous enemies until they're low on their wound chart and too weak to be effective it's not that tough to balance a gargant army.

Thus i'm eagerly waiting to see how they balance that out in the Sons favor with what magic and monsters they've gathered from around the Realms.

I'm expecting a few gargant kits but I'm hoping they go all out and give us multiple sub-factions of monsters like gargant priests from Hysh that heal, Aqshy titan soldiers from the fallen Khanate with Magmadroth-like beasts and frozen Jotunns from Ghyran that froze the oceans to help Alarielle escape Nurgle. Just a huge family gathering from across the realms for the death of their father and revenge on those that killed him (maybe also against Nagash in a desire to bring the God-beast back).

I'm a bit hopeful for this since GW said the Lumineth is "how they're going forward" which with the focus on diverse sub-faction models I hope it's in that vein of more Mortal Realms variety inside a faction.

I (extremely! ) want either that or Excelsis to be part of a new global campaign with the players help decide the outcome of the city and Ghur. Will it be saved and stand as a stronghold proving to Gordrakk that Sigmar isn't just cowering behind civilization and put their sights on Chaos and Death or will it fall and force the inhabitants to relocate with the new Ghur map and leave the realm open for Gordrakk and the Sons to threaten the other great cities and force the God-king to act at the cost of losing sight of Nagash and Archaon's battles and schemes

Also we definitely need the Lumineth Mountain geomancers to wake the violent spirits in Ghur so the already beastly mountains can move and go into a kaiju army battle with the Sons. Sons of the stone titan vs literal stone titan monsters. :D

The Global Campaign would be amazing, players actively affecting the story of the Mortal Realms as it moves forward.

I agree with the variety of Gargant kits. Ever since they were hinted at in the Old World Reveal I've been talking and posting about the variety of units and how insane GW could go, most people go "Look at the Knights you'll get one or two new Kits blah blah blah" but as others have said the Knights are already available for other armies in 40K and the Gargants will be a thing all their own!!

I want Ranged Gargants with ballistae sized bows and Cannon sized handguns.

Shamans with actual trees for staffs.

Soldiers with Armour plating, Chieftans and King Brodd himself.

I want Mammoths as Mounts and Scenery Pieces

Large Cave Bears as hunting dogs, Half-Gargants that fill the role of Armigers just shorter than an Aleguzzlar.

The Aleguzzlar to become the runt of the army.

And I'd love if every Gargant was tall enough to look Archaon directly in the eye. Monstrous beasts that deserve the title of Gargant, that tower over Ghorgons and Cygors.

Last but not least, Johans extended family. A bunch of extra Human and Free Cities soldiers to decorate our bases running screaming in terror.

I hope, that SoB can become  special allies  to existing Destruction Armies. More than 400 p in a game and Profit from their abilities. I like to field a Gitz Army with Giants.

I'd imagine that'd be the case since gargants already work so closely with Destruction forces and even serve the other grand alliances as mercs, soldiers and workers.

Unless there's something really strange with them like a curse they should be a very compatible army.

My prediction is they're going to start drip feeding reveals out slowly to keep up 'interest in the brand'. Whether this means a few things have been trimmed off the Not!Adepticon reveals or not is another story, but I could see a few things having been quickly shunted into reserve, or turned more into teasers than outright reveals so they can ensure maximum numbers of people chomping at the bits to throw hard cash GW's way as soon as this is over, rather than have them slowly feed back in once the "Oh right I wonder what's going on with Warhammer..." if they show/release nothing for months.

In AoS, units are just a stat block. Theres no rule difference between one model with 10 wounds and 10 models with 1 wound. As damage is split, and both degrade, mathematically is nearly the same thing.

Is because of that than an army of giants won't have the effect knights had on 40k.
