The Rumour Thread

We had the preorder announcement for next Saturday and it didn't include Lizardmen. The earliest it could come would therefore be the Saturday after, but it's more likely that'll be 40k focused, so the Saturday after that would be more likely.

I have a feeling that KingKull might be in a timezone where the pre-order announcement is early Monday morning, might be wrong though

The ensuing explosion of the power of the Old Ones mixed with Ghur’s rage would create a cataclysmic eruption of bestial change, stoking the realm’s fury beyond reason."

Do you see the lore for the end of edition big event coming ? I sure do... A huge boom of Old One infused amber magic to send the Era of the Beast out with a (literal) bang. I think GW is planning something with the Gnarlwood and the Eye of Chotec, planting little seeds to move the overall plot forward.

Interesting Rumour engine. Screams Death to me, and of that I think scythes tend to be associated with NH now. Perhaps a Warcry Warband? Or maybe Deathe is getting something in the Broken Realms equivalent? Idk, doesn't scream FEC but at the same time if they are getting a refresh that might not matter.

Could be Nurgle too I guess, maybe they will get a new mortal unit in the leadup to 4th Ed. Order of the Fly would be my hope if that is the case.

My immediate thought was something Nurgle/Blightkings? That might be a bit obvious though. Could also be something Death, since rusted scythes crop up a lot on their models too.

I'm also thinking Nurgle.

There are several corroded scythes on in that army and those nails in particular are an established design element:

They can be seen on the bell guy in this picture, for example.

It's been a while since Nurgle has had some love. They had obviously End Times releases, then that big release in the tail end of 1st Ed, and then only Underworlds and Warcry bands, and the plastic sorcerer.

I guess it's the circle of life and decay and that now Papa Nurgle is going through a stage of drought to prepare the next pustulent bloom of life.

I love how GW is slowly advancing the narrative outside of mainline AOS through Warcry and Underworlds

I. Love. It.

Instead of a Narrative book or Campaign every 18 months were are getting smaller scale updates on the lore of that Realms setting.

I agree that this is setting up the end of Era of the Beast.

seeing the underworlds article with the classic "coming soon" final text blurb... I think this could be this sunday announcement with more specialist stuff maybe?

Rumour Engine screams AOS Nurgle to me.

Underworlds Warband or new mini(s) for the Narrative Event.

If we get a new unit or model for every Narrative book like we did BR Ill be so happy.

4 new books with accompaning minis could help out those Factions who havent made their presence narratively yet.

Ogors.

Skaven.

Fyreslayers.

All contenders.

Ivya Volga rules preview.

Quote

Immortality leaves you with a lot of free time. Since receiving the blood kiss, Ivya Volga has spent centuries hunting the fiercest predators of the Mortal Realms – a prescient pastime to have honed ahead of the Era of the Beast. In the course of her hunts, her loyal bats – the closest thing this lone wanderer has to friends – have drunk the blood of many arcane creatures, granting them the uncanny ability to perceive ley lines of geomantic power.

After calling out Radukar’s colossal failure at Ulfenkarn during a rare visit to her clan’s conclave, Ivya offered a solution. She would use her bats to spy out nexuses of power upon which the dynasty could lay the foundations of a new, even greater city of death. Now the armies of the Vyrkos jockey to establish their new capital, with Ivya marching at their head.

Despite this lofty mission, Ivya cares little for political affairs – or basic tact, for that matter. Her interest lies solely in slaughtering whatever behemoths nest atop the nexus points claimed by her bloodline… though she won’t hesitate to carve up any unfortunate Dawnbringer outpost that happened to get there first.

Pretty cool. I don't usually like anti-monster as a role for foot heroes, but her rules seem significant enough to possibly make using her worth it.

However, her stats will need to bear it out. If she's a 6 wound, 5+ save, 8" move dumb-dumb, even these powerful debuffs won't make her usable.

Yeah, I know a Death rumour engine when I see one.

Since the new SBGL Tome is coming out soon and no new unit apart from lilly vyrkos has been shown. I'd expect this to be neither Nurgle nor Death but Skaven.
If it is Nurgle I'd expect a new one of these:

Nurgle Chaos Lord - Forum - DakkaDakka | Roll the dice to see if I'm getting drunk.

I don't really know. Clan Pestilens isn't very associated with scythes in their aesthetic, they're more into censers and bells.

But you have me pretty convinced it could be the new Harbringer of Decay. After all, it's a finescast miniature, and we know those tend to get replaced now. And as much as i think Nurgle needs new units instead of new heroes, a redo of the Harbringer would still be welcome.

I'm going to shout Skaven. Because I used to shout Squats at every vague possibility and they happened!

So, I reckon it's Skaven.
