The Rumour Thread

So nothing new (aside from the full troll warband reveal) was revealed during Spiel that wasn't already leaked prior. I guess for as small an event as Spiel that nothing huge was revealed. Still the sculpts are really well made as always. I like how we are so accustomed now to expecting good sculpts from GW. It means their doing something right.

Also don't forget that with a whole Bloodbowl team and Shadspire team that's quite a lot of models - that's two whole factions for those respective specialist games. Plus the Necron Titan and the boardgame. That's a pretty full series of news and releases today :)

I forgotten about the Necron model. They've previewed that months ago!

I like the undead blood bowl team. The pictures/video seems to suggest there are 14 miniatures in the team box. All previous boxes only had 12. It's possible the Mummies are individually packaged (like the Ogre and Troll), but they don't look nearly as big as those two (and there are 2 in the team shot ... which would be expected if it's 2 identical sprues like other team boxes).

The Troll shadespire team is awesome too! Here's hoping for a troll hero!

Looking forward to both of these releases!

Next weekend is Blood and Glory, there is a proper studio preview event. I think Wrath and Rapture will be shown and then be up for pre-order not long after. Moonclan is ready to go product wise, but might not be for awhile. This is what I've heard.

A while? That's disappointing, if only because I want the range (Destruction, Darkoath) to keep moving forward and this seems like they might be back to a hold up somewhere.

This breaks my heart. I want to see the Moonclan stuff (even if it isn't coming out for a few months), so I can decide on whether to start Moonclan or Deepkin for my project next year.

I'm guessing we'll see something beyond Wrath and Rapture, but I'm not sure if it have anything to do with AoS (probably the last Necromunda gang). I'm also thinking that Wrath and Rapture will have stand alone rules like Betrayal at Calth and those type of GW releases, and Slaanesh proper won't come until they rebox the models from Wrath and Rapture 6 months to a year down the road.

Slaanesh has been hinted at being closer - mostly based on the fact that the last two-three years GW has released a new army for a Chaos God in the new year. Of course that is no guarantee at all.

I'm thinking we'll see both Moonclan and Darkoath first personally. I think GW will want to give Slaanesh a big release with a lot of storyline support, a boxed set like Blight War, plus they will be getting new Fiends, a KoS, a new Herald, several new heroes, and probably a couple mortal units. I think they will make a big summer campaign deal out of it (which would be awesome).

As far as Slaanesh is concerned, my gut feeling is when they do release some Slaanesh stuff and assuming it will be more than just releases for Wrath & Rapture, that they might lean more towards 40k focused releases with the possibility of AoS compatibility.

When will this stuff be released though? That's another tough one. With November around the corner we'll probably get one or two more decent releases, probably either standalone game box sets or other things like Chapter Approved previews. December will be a slow down period with custom Battleforce box sets for the holidays. The big stuff will start rolling back once the new year starts.

This is all baseless conjecture though.

In contrast I think the fiend and herald will be released in the new boxed game before christmas or soon after. If GW then follow suit like they did with the Necron and AdMech then the new Codex/Battletome should follow hot on its heels.

I agree that the Fiend and Herald will be before Christmas in Wrath and Rupture, I just don't think the Slaanesh book will be released until they are reboxed, and GW generally takes a while to rebox stuff in boxed games. Genestealer cult still doesn't have reboxed Aberrants, the Silver Tower stuff took quite a while, etc. I think we are looking more at something like Silver Tower compared to the Tzeentch book, which had a bit over 6 months between them. Because if they release Wrath and Rapture before Christmas (which seems likely), there is no way we will be getting a Slaanesh Battletome and all the associated goodies before Christmas.

the only caviat is that Blightwar was release in August so their was four month between that box and the Maggotkin release which support Sabotoge! point.

granted the last 2 January release have been chaos god, so chances are pretty good for a Slaanesh releases but it not a guarentee thing either given GW schedule.

the big exception this year was that there wasn't a daemon Primarch chaos marine release to correspond with AoS version release this year like the last two but I think Slaanesh release is happening soon regardless of this fact

Edit: no one is really talking that their could be a possible Khorne release too given since W&R is 50% his force.

I had been saying since the start of the year that Slaanesh was next. As a Khorney guy myself I was perfectly fine with that and expected things like 40k Angron in 2020 along with more Khorne Daemons. I'm presently surprised to see Khorne Daemons being packed with Slaanesh and it makes sense to kill two birds with one stone since Flesh Hounds and Heralds need plastic models too. My hope is the boxed set comes out sooner rather than later if only because I was it now ?

Yeah, GW doesn't like releasing boxed sets and then reboxing them right away. I can't recall a time they have ever done that, though that doesn't mean it hasn't happen.

I could definitely see a Khorne release coming and it's something that I hadn't considered. In fact, if we were to get a Battletome closely (like a few weeks) behind Wrath and Rapture I would actually put my money on a redone Blades of Khorne, since with plastic Flesh Hounds and a Herald they would have pretty much a full plastic range and GW wouldn't have to release anything alongside the book, until they eventually rebox the flesh hounds and herald down the road.

They don't have to rebox though; the Necrons still have their new model locked up in a boxed set. Plus a major slaanesh release would likely come with more than just a herald and fiends. For starters they still have their old finecast and smaller greater demon; that in itself would be a big release with likely several built in variations and a named character variant within it. Then there's infantry - the other Chaos Gods each got at least one new infantry type along with them, if not several. So there's ample room for GW to throw new kits out for Slaanesh without touching the herald or fiend.

Khorne would be a surprise since Khorne at least has some of their line updated. Then again its hard to predict what GW will do and we only really can guess.

So I maybe wrong in this, as I don't really follow 40k, but isn't the new Necron model in Forgebane just a Cryptek with a different equipment loadout and not a new unit? Because GW does this all the time (and sometimes doesn't even release these models outside of boxes). Slaanesh will be almost definitely be a major release and will include the new demons, a new KoS, and I'm guessing two new mortal units (at least), alongside a few new heralds. I'm just thinking they will not release a battletome until every unit in it is available individually (or releasing in a few weeks), which tends to be par for course for GW barring this weird Ork release with Speed Freeks and the GSC army that you still can't get abberants outside of a large boxed set.

That said, you are very right, this is really all just speculation and GW can really do whatever they feel like. For all we knows we will be getting AoS Brettonians next.

So in terms of officially announced products we have Blackstone fortress which will almost certainly go up for preorder on November 24th, which leaves three preorder weeks in November to fill.

I am expecting one week to be Wrath and Rapture, one to be specialist games stuff and to be terrain and painting bundles which would follow the pattern of the last couple of years.

I think the first two books of next year will be Moonclan and gsc for 40k. They could then do Slaanesh in March which would be enough time after Wrath and Rapture to rebox some of those minis.

We will probably see Darkoath somewhere in there too.

There may be space for a surprise beasts of chaos style book at some point but  I think it is highly likely that the next 4 big  miniature releases will be Moonclan, Slaanesh,  Genestealer cults and Darkoath.

Looking forward to being proved wrong on Friday.
