    The Hag!

    By Eevika

The Troggoth Hag is definitely a piece I believe every Troggoth army needs. It's amazing as a model and amazing on the table. I rarely do such detailed eyes and faces but when working on a model that is the centrepiece of your army you want to spend some extra time just to make it special. This is surely the best work I have ever done on a models face and I think there is just a lot of character and emotion on the model.  My smaller Troggoths are just green and blue but for t

'Ere We Go

So here we are in the Age of Sigmar. I must admit, to my shame, I was one of the first to denounce this change. I railed against the lack of points, I decried the aesthetic of space marines creeping into my fantasy world and I openly mocked the 4 pages of rules. I played zero games before I said these things. Then I read the scrolls. Yes, the silly rules involving talking to vampires, raising a goblet to the lady and gazing deeply into your opponents eyes may have been upsetting, but the layers

First battle against the Orruks

As mentioned in my last post I played my first game of Age of Sigmar using the SCGT points system. We decided to also use one of the missions from their tournament pack called Battle for the Allpoints which had four realmgates set out on the board (one of which would collapse on turn 3) and the winner was whoever controlled the most at the end of the game. This was the overall setup for both our forces. His army consisted of a shaman on arachnarok spider, 10 ardboyz, an orc shaman, 6 f

Warhammer Fest (Hobgoblin Club Road Trip Part Two)

After a day of Warhammer World (http://www.tga.community/blogs/blog/15-hobgoblinblog/) and drinks in Nottingham, we were up bright and early to make the hour drive to Coventry and Warhammer Fest!  Somehow, due to roadworks and wrong turns, that hour turned into three.  The question cards from Trivial Pursuit kept us occupied and we arrived around 11ish. Blood Bowl was the highlight of the Fest for me, so I'll start with that.  I had a good chat with James Hewitt, the writer, and I'm pleased

The Freepeoples Em-pire so far

Here's a group shot of Freepeoples Em-pire so far... There's 5 more Knights and 10 Swordsmen still to assemble, the knights are on the Hurricanium horses and I intend to give them greenstuff fur cloaks using a Micro Art Studio light fur mould, (I can sculpt small areas of fur but find it takes ages so the mould should really help).  They are sort of Knights Panther but in the new age, so maybe I'll call them something a little different (I'm open to suggestions) I'm thinking maybe Pant

And now... Morghur!

The Shadowgrave, Master of Skulls, The Corrupter, Semi-Finalist in Strictly Come Dancing ... he has many titles. I've now finished painting my Morghur conversion (and now I'm really tempted to rumoured Alarielle, since the Wood Elf Queen was his arch-nemesis in the Old World). Unlike the usual blood-spattered snow, I used some Typhus Corrosion to represent the corruption seeping out of him. Another unit coming up soon! (if anyone's wondering how I'm managing to bang them out

A New Constellation Appears

Hello everyone! Welcome to my little blog here on the Grand Alliance Community. I’ll be using this as a army blog with WIP shots but also artwork, fluff and perhaps some batreps. To start this off, a little introduction about my love for the Seraphon. You’ll all be known with the childhood love for dinosaurs. Well, the same goes for me. As a kid I was big fan and was a collector of anything dinosaur. Many years later I got a Games Workshop 2006 Catalogue from a friend, the Lizardmen ra

Lizard poisons Spock, or "The Rock-Paper-Scissors of AoS"

Lets preface with this: I don't know what I'm talking about. I never played a single game of AoS. I only read the rules, read some warscrolls, did some faulty math in my head. It's probably all just a pile of throggoth dung. On a rare chance it's not, it's probably been said by a million people before, but I haven't read it, so I'm claiming it genuine. I'm a troggoth, that's what I do. If by any weird occurrence of fate you misread my ramblings and somehow get any useful information from it, ple

Putrid Blightkings

After finishing Archaon I wanted to start with the Nurgle section of my force mainly because the putrid blightking models have always interested me and now gave me a reason to by and paint some. Here is the progress of my 10 man strong unit so far. I have only finished 3 so far because I wanted to sample the scheme before using it on all of them. I am happy with this overall scheme because I didn't want to have the obvious green armour and so chose to have a more bronze armour, glazed green to i

Usurped By Tzeentch

The Silver Tower has landed, destroying the Gorefangz even before they could take to battle. Luckily I'd painted them all up before they were usurped and so selling them on was pretty straight forward. And why has this been done... To say I'm excited for this release is beyond words. An avid player of the original Heroquest/Advanced Heroquest, when Warhammer Quest was first released I played that game to death - usually my characters as that dungeon crawl was tough. But every

Forged by Lightning...

Update time! Today is a double whammy. Intro post as well as some actual content! So here are my Stormcast Eternals. they aren't much but they are mine. I painted them in a very typical paint scheme, never having used metallic gold before I thought it would be a good opportunity to mess around with some new colours. I learned a lot from working on these models. It gave me a chance to practice edge highlighting in a way that was pretty forgiving. I also got to expand my colou

Intro to GW

For my first blog post, I thought I would briefly run through the circuitous route I took that led me to AOS.  When I was a kid, I bought a few 40k models with a friend of mine. Not having much money, I dabbled here and there, bought some Orks, a few Tyranids, some Dark Eldar, but I never could get into 40k as a game system (it was 3rd edition, I was like 10, gimmie a break). I always had a passing interest in 40k, I played DOW and DOW2 when they came out, loved the lore behind 40k, b

Proto-Aelf

The first Drakespawn Knight. Bit of a test really. I really like the old skool look of these cold one riders, so I really wanted to give them more of a dungeon-punk vibe. I swapped the slender lance and elegant shield for something a little more gnarly looking. Feel like it fits the rag-tag band of raider which I have in my head.  I might add add a few more bits and bobs to make them more barbaric looking, what do you reckon? i still ill have a bit of tidying up to do. Ammassing the forces of chaos

When Age of Sigmar was first released I was excited by the new models, specifically the Khorne Bloodbound and wanted to try out this new game. After playing several games with the starter set and the additional Khorne miniatures I found that no one else wanted to play Age of Sigmar specifically because at that stage the only additions were either for the Stormcast or Bloodbound and many didn't want to use their 8th edition fantasy armies. Several  months later when the new Archaon the Everc

Spawn To Be Wild!

I've painted up my three spawn conversions, and ended up styling them along the lines of the ruinous powers: Extra blood for the Khorne Spawn: Extra drool for the Nurgle Spawn And extra ... eyeball? ,,, for the Tzenntch Spawn So here are my trio: Blinkin, Winkin and Nod.

Arachnophilia - How I fell in love with the Spiderfang!

Since the Battle for Skull Pass I've always wanted to do a spider themed army. When the Arachnaroks came on the scene spiders became a lot more viable but animosity was crippling to the small bands of five spider riders, who would head for the hills after a couple of casualties. In AOS that all changed and the Spiderfang Venom Mob presented a temptation beyond what I could bare! For the Spiderfang formation each unit gives buffs to other units making it possible for the spider riders, in id

Warhammer World (Hobgoblin Club Road Trip Part One)

After many months of waiting, last weekend was the Hobgoblin Club Road Trip!  A wonderful time was had by all.  On Saturday we visited Warhammer World in Nottingham, and on Sunday we travelled to Warhammer Fest in Coventry (http://www.tga.community/blogs/entry/76-warhammer-fest-hobgoblin-club-road-trip-part-two/).  I've kept things brief, as it's only the pics you're interested in anyway.  Enjoy! So, we set off early on Saturday morning (8am I think, early for us!) and drove down to Notting

Nearby crack that clears the air...

So, as of today - I am unemployed...  Redundancy at work had left me without a job and, although I have a couple of interviews upcoming (an especially exciting one tomorrow!)  it has still hit me hard - subsequently I have only got 5 models completed and to an OK standard, my heart really wasn't in it...   Moving forwards,  I want to get a bit of a force going, so will probably work on the next 5 shield and hammer dudes next to get them out the way.

Hello world

Hello world.  I decided to start a shiny new blog here to report on my round based journey into the Mortal Realms.  Going forward with this new game and new army/s it made sense to start a fresh blog.  I've previously played High Elves and now maintain a massive Orcs & Goblins army (Orruks & Grots for you young whippersnappers). You can see my greenskins on Da Warpath.  Below is a hidden montage of my best miniatures to date. I find gaming casually using my greenskins on squa

I am not a number. I am a free man!

So, the news about the Silver Tower boxed game officially came out today and I couldn't be happier. I was just about to endeavour on creating a game that used floor tiles with AoS when the news hit a few weeks ago. What gets me so excited about the game aren't the wonderful models, the ability to add your own hero (more on that in next week's entry), or even playing the game with friends and loved ones as intended. The excitement comes from the ease of which one could make this into a solo-varia

The first rumbling

So after dithering about with different ideas for colour schemes and stressing over what I was going to paint I've ended up with a stock scheme,  Celestial Vindicators... Spurred on by a painting comp at out local GW I slapped this guy together with some small conversions and an OK paintjob ready for it (just realised I missed the sand timer, so will do that!) Join me then, on the beginnings of my journey. I'll endeavour to update regularly, with both painting and games and I look forward t

First draft of Gordak fist of Gorks Waaagh

So I'm posting my first list ahead of my first proper game next Saturday. We are using the SCGT pack from the heelanhammer podcast website using 150 pool points and fielding just 100 of them on the day. Here's my list it's not what I will settle on but it's mostly limited by what models I have at the moment. Gordak fist of Gork 22 Orruk Ardboyz (20) 16 Ale guzzler Gargant (3) 27 Sourbreath Troggoth (6) 20 Rockgut Troggoth (3) 10 Fellwater Troggoth (6) 20 Arachnarok  spidershrine

In the Beginning There was Naught but Singularity

Welcome to another irregularly updated blog! In this blog, you'll find badly taken pictures of badly painted models, some pitiful attempts at conversions, and slow-to-read backstory for said models. If you're lucky, you may even trudge through old school tactics that don't apply anymore. Why should you even pay attention to this undertaking? Because I'm trying. Stay tuned for an update tomorrow.
