    The Hag!

    By Eevika

The Troggoth Hag is definitely a piece I believe every Troggoth army needs. It's amazing as a model and amazing on the table. I rarely do such detailed eyes and faces but when working on a model that is the centrepiece of your army you want to spend some extra time just to make it special. This is surely the best work I have ever done on a models face and I think there is just a lot of character and emotion on the model.  My smaller Troggoths are just green and blue but for t

The Ard boyz development

Just before I started the Maw Crusha I found out some black orcs I had from 8th edition and decided to test my colour scheme. So here is the progress it's a dark red with cream dags on their armour. The skin is more of a camo style green rather than the normal vivid green as I wanted a menacing more natural look to it.  After reading the different threads in the forum I feel I have made an error in my choice of weapons I started with but I will look through my others and slowly build up a p

Get On the Floor!

Finally laid the rest of the floor and it's looking great!  It really finishes of the 'Is this a shed or a sauna?' look.   Also got the electrics in the shed finished.  They just need to be hooked up to the house, which will be done while I'm away at Warhammer Fest.

We, the faithful

We, the faithful  Hobby goal month 4 - South Coast Grand Tournament, Waterlooville. Just Wow.  First, you may be wondering: 'what happened to month #3?' -well the goal is twelve armies, twelve events, twelve months. So I guess one month will have to be a double! Anyway, back to the agenda. The South Coast Grand Tournament.  Accompanied by veteran Independant tournament go-er (& fellow #Hammerer) Will, this was   the first time I'd ever play Warh

Spawn Free!

WIP report this time - I wanted to add Morghur, Master of Skulls to the brayherd, but I wasn't keen on the metal model. This is what I managed with a few spare bits and some greenstuff: And since the reason to take Morghur is so he can mutate your own troops into Chaos Spawn, I had a go at slapping some of them together too.

Prologue

It finally happened. Last Thursday my Gates of Azyr finally opened and I popped my AOS cherry!. It's been a difficult year, if not for illness, deadlines , access to the car, kids extra curricular activities, weather, blah blah blah, I would have probably played earlier. So I drove to one of my local GW stores and played a very enjoyable game against a real person. After the game on the drive home I was surprised how good It felt. It didn't matter that my opponent had unpainted m

Death Army List Strategy for NICON 2016

With our North Island Gaming Convention just around the corner, it is time to make the hard choices about what to bring in order to sow death and reap souls in the name of the Great Necromancer. Here are my thoughts about what I'm bringing, what my overall strategies will be, and how I arrived to those decisions. NICON Army Composition At NICON we will be using the SCGT players pack, with the exceptions that we are allowing all legacy warscrolls, and that the pool choice restricti

After the Rain

So after 24 hours straight rain I managed to undercoat some Stormvermin. After staring at my paint collection for what seemed liked hours I finally came up with a colour scheme.  I think it works well but of course I know that there is much room for improvement. I went for a purple base to try and make a contrast between the base and the green, do you think it works? Please give me your C&C so I can improve my painting and I'll be back with more when I've finished the fir

The start of a Journey

A year ago when Age Of Sigmar came out I like so many was unsure, but for different reasons.  My hobby has always been driven by models as I really like to make my army out of models I like to a theme. With this in mind when the new rules came out the 2 forces did not take my fancy, the other thing was I didn't just want to play one of my 8th edition Warhammer armies in the game. I wanted something new, so for the last year I've kept an eye out but have not got into the game, but that

Raise the Roof!

Having waited a week for materials to arrive, the Blood Shed build is moving again!  The roof is now tiles and I have to say that I'm over the moon with it.  I'm not sure the name 'Shed' will suffice for this place.  I've seen less substantial bungalows!  Scroll down for more progress... So the roof is on and just needs finishing off tomorrow.  Today has also seen the internal electrics almost completed and the floor started.  I feel like it's all coming together at once.  The double gl

The disappointing beginning of things that will probably never go anywhere, or "Painting: Liberators"

I've been putting this aside long enough. With the baby, work and everything, it was really hard to find the will to sit down and paint anything. Eventually, I had to tell myself "no more trolling, until you paint something"... I mean people are out there playing, and I'm sitting here watching pictures. No more of that. I sat down, and finished the "only need a few more layers" Liberators that I started (!) last August. It feels great to actually have something finished, bases and all. It's b

Built, Based and Ready for Undercoat

This is my Skaven force with a Clan Skryre theme with all the basing done and is now ready to be undercoated. I still haven't thought of a colour scheme so hopefully something comes to mind soon as I need to slap some paints on these bad boys. I have the following: Warlord Warlock Engineer Stormvermin Warpfire Cannon Doomwheel Hellpit Abomination Stormfiends Warpfire Throwers Poison Wind Mortars

Mordheim Game Reports

Three games Saturday came and went in a flurry of axe wielding cows and northern men from the Empire falling out of windows :-) We played 3 games of Mordheim and I’ve really enjoyed the Beastmen, however singularly you need to be when playing them! Game 1 was fast, and my opponent heavily armed...4 archers & 3 riflemen. On top of that there are 2 combat heros and a couple of spearmen...we deployed in the ruins, Ross Howard (@rossymagic): https://twitter.com/rossymagic?s=09 took the

I'm all about that base

Hi All, Lets kick this off with a little introduction! I'm Adam, from Dorset in the UK. I have been in the hobby since around the time of the Dark Elves army book release in 8th. I have always been a massive fan of anything Orc related. In Warcraft 3, I always played them, WoW my characters were always orcs (apart from the time I played a blood elf, we don't talk about that), when I used to play Dawn of War with my friends at LAN parties, I could always be found yelling Waaagh in the c

A Realm to conquer

Hi everyone, To go along side my shiny new Stormcast force I wanted some of the new Age of Sigmar scenery for them to fight over. I have always liked making and painting scenery, it real quick to do and can look great with very little effort put in. Before I started I needed to have an idea of where this terrain was going to be set, the Realms of Life and Beasts where the front runners and I didn't decide 100% until I got in to the painting. Life won out as I liked the greenery I could

Orruks WIP

Having completed the first test model - see previous post WIP - I realised the red scheme was a little too gaudy for my liking. So I sat down and assembled the rest of the box and while doing so decided on a new paint scheme, one that would be quick to paint and allow me to go to town with highlghts once the basic tabletop standard was done. And here they are:  The scheme is nice and simple and will allow me to quickly paint new units once added. All the paints used are from the A

Alliance of Destruction + WIP

When I decided on seriously jumping back into AOS, I was torn between which faction to focus on. Focus has always been an issue for me - too many shinies pulling me in several directions at once; Nurgle, Bloodbound, Skaven (Clan Pestilence), Dwarfs. I could go on and I'm pretty sure a lot of you reading this are just as prone to Shiny-Toy-Soldier syndrome as much as I. However, the Ironjawz release really grabbed me and after reading over them and dribbling at the new models, I took the plu

Tomb King rebasing

So I thought that I would open this blog by sharing my recently-rebased Tomb Kings. I have not purchased any models directly for Age of Sigmar yet, instead doc using on rebasing my existing collections. With the new Grand Alliance books, I'm feeling keen on the idea of adding selected units from other factions to my 8th ed armies in order to make a cosmopolitan force for the new game.    The pictures (hopefully they show up correctly) represent about two thirds of my total collection f

More ironjawz and some battle reports

Tuesday I did some painting of the maw crusha and brutes since I knew I'd be busy in a few days so I'd have to work on them during the week.  Tried the yellow over white primer, four coats in I really don't like the coverage of yriel yellow.  Wednesday small d1 (for my flgs) trials of ironjawz.  Well I thought the fyreslayers were hurt in wound based keyword restricted games, well ironjawz are almost unplayable.  Severely disappointed in that. Megaboss needs six units of ironjawz for his wa

Recruiting the Brayherd...

So I'm playing my first game this Saturday and obviously that means writing a list. My end goal is to have a unit I can just add to my AoS games I'm looking for about 10 models total. As uploaded in other posts I'm using the PestiGor models which came out in 2003. these are mostly mono-pose with only a couple of sculpts. I own 5 PestiGor & the command models. In Mordheim I will be using the Champion model as my Beastman Chief, Musician as my Sorcerer and will paint the standard to match

Green Ambition

My first army was an Orc & Goblin force led by Gromm the Paunch from the Misty Mountain. This was for 3rd and 4th Edition and was the only army I ever collected, painted and gamed with regularly. This was back in the 80's/90's and it helped that I was working for GW at the time. We had a pretty good store campaign going which combined WFB, Mighty Empires and Man O' War to create a truly world-spanning series of games that ran for the best part of a year. Good times. That world no longer
