Warhammer - The Old World

Speaking of Albion, I do have a crackpot theory that we'll get Dogs of War (sort of). Earlier maps of Border Princes included settlements with names and font styles differing from Empire/Bretonnia/Kislev, and rather could have been Tilea/Estalia. Now, I don't think we'll ACTUALLY get DoW, but rather rules to soup (perhaps Mon tourney legally) an Ynnari-like force of humans and then they're slapped with a "Mercenary" keyword and maybe one unique character.

I do hope they do Dogs of War, ive had a hankering to do some Marienburg pikemen with historical minis now there are lots of plastic landsknechts (human and ogre!)  out there to use :D

The Lizardman thing does bring up the crucial flaw with the Old world though, the impracticalities of involving half the armies!

Since this was being discussed in the Rumour thread....

I think the "proof" is not exactly strong, but it is believable because it makes sense. It would explain how GW plans to support so many armies and make it profitable (using them in both systems), and it would also explain the "conservative" releases we're seeing lately in AoS (looking at you, "snarlfangs").

It's still mere speculation, obviously, but we don0t have much more, and this is more juicy to chew than the warcom articles.

Genuinely curious, why do people dislike non-random charges? Fantasy was a game of movement arguably more than any other GW game, and I for one prefer as little randomness in my games' crucial aspects as possible.

Granted, it would work better with no pre-measuring (which I hoped would come back but it's no biggie), but this also looks promising.

While not directly related to TOW, it looks like Cubicle7 has been given the green light to expand upon the Vampire Coast! They recently posted a new "hero"/creature tied to the Coasts called a "Brine-Wife" from their upcoming Austria campaign book. I don't know about you all, but this makes me increasingly hopeful that we'll get some kind of shanty loving undead in the near future....Fqs6Ic1agAUhAaU.jpeg.d416b9b49f90567dae3a3aae6bf76b1e.jpeg

I'm guessing here, but I wonder if thinking e.g. "I'm probably not putting my unit in range of an enemy charge, but there's a small chance I might be vulnerable, I need to weigh up the risk" adds a bit more jeopardy and maybe interest/excitement to the game?

I really hope that showing cad pictures now doesn't mean they are 2 years away...or even one...

Rumors talks about end of the year\next year iirc, as they talked about Bretonnians vs Khemri starter set i think this article is a "sort of" hint to those rumors being true (at least partially).

Still, setting expectations for 2024 or even 2026 would be the safest bets.

This Specialist game project doesn’t exactly have 40k’s leverage behind it.

If 4.0 will be released in 2024, I hope TOW releases this year. My wallet will not survive if both games are released in the same year...

Interestingly, the CAD renders shown today look like they're from multipart plastic kits, not ETB (as one could expect with a starter set).

What a time to be undead / French !

The Age of Darkness boxset for 30k is multi-part, so there is a precedent for it.

Maybe we’ll get an Age of Darkness deal? The starter box first then a few indexes before we get specific books for each faction.

I wonder how this box set will be “designed” so to speak: is it like the 3rd edition box (multiple heroes and a few elites + battle line) or the standard “2 new heroes and their factions” kind of deal?

Also, is anyone surprised we haven’t heard about Cathay or Kislev? Since those two were the factions that kinda teased this whole endeavor……
