Couple more AoS miniatures sold out in Forge World. Basilisk and Warpfire Dragon, in addition to the Fimirs and Tamurkhan. (Not all are yet gone in all regions, if you're checking)

I don't think this is a coincidence anymore, looks like anything could be next. I just hope this means they're getting rid of something that doesn't sell, not getting rid of everything.

Im guessing the playable stuff stays as people probably are buying those. Stuff like the Bonegrinder, Troggoth Hag and the Gloomspite Gitz stuff can all be played in Gitz or allied into multiple armies.

Wait a sec do FW put sold-out for stuff that's not had a new batch cast or only for removals? I know there's a difference but that they do put "unavailable" in some form onto stuff that hasn't been cast up. I know because I was eyeing the malanthrope and it went "out of sale" and then came back with a fresh wave. However I can't recall what terms they use (I think its deliberate because the "sold out" is linked to stock which then prompts them to review the master and mould and sales and then choose if they recast).

All I can say is if you wanted either EMAIL FORGEWORLD to say so (in a polite fashion). Direct customer feedback is the most valuable thing.

As for rules updates that one is on GW/FW. If they don't update rules and don't market of course stuff won't sell; esp when FW itself is not famed for AoS support and thus doesn't get as much attention as 40K product lines or even the specialist game product lines.

Gah this thread gives me anxiety. I really want to buy the skin wolves for war cry to use as Chaos spawn because I love the models a whole lot more than the spawn. I just have no money between school and work, so watching a thread like this is both a cautionary tale and making me wish I had enough to spend on them.

I sent Forge World an email about asking about the mass removals of AoS, why not tell in advance about the departure of a model and will the rules be in use even after the fact. Here's the response from their customer service:

"I am sorry to say I do not have the finer details of why any item leaves our range, range reviews and product discontinuations are decisions made by our upper management team.

These lines are often phased out of our range quality, they are typically slow-selling items anyway but we also want to avoid individuals placing bulk orders for items before it sells out.

From what we understand the rules will not be discontinued. Whilst ever rules are in print in a current edition publication they will be valid for friendly games but you may need to check with third party event organisers as they may disagree.

I do not have a list of product that may be leaving the range but what I would say is that if you are interested in a range of or specific model for our own collection you should get them when you are able to rather than waiting and potentially being disappointed."

Sadly that's the same reply we've had before - basically we need someone in management to get these emails directly rather than the front line customer service staff who have their hands tied by not actually knowing and even if they did, likely not being permitted to say. Same as the community team on facebook, they are just marketing staff they are not "read into" all the management choices.

It's something that I really hope we can kick further up the GW chain and get some input from!

Well, having bought the Fimir warriors before they were gone, I can only say that the mold wasn't too shabby, so that didn't seem to have played into it. Or I got lucky as I got a great cast. That said, I pretty much only had great casts from Forgeworld so far.

Being quite big on the whole "******" look of the Death Korps (yeah, I know they're not really ****** and with my nickname one shouldn't go there anyways, but the nickname is from one of my favorite CDs (by an American band) I ordered a HUGE amount of them back when they were new. I only checked the casts to see if they were good and I wouldn't say the Fimir are any worse than prime DKOK. Which reminds me that I should really sell them as I'll never get around to painting them anyways.

Yeah I was glad to see the demons back in their proper places!

I'm hoping the Basilisk and Warpfire might just be end of production line batches and being updated, its a shame that the customer service staff can't always confirm those details, but its a great shame if both kits are being lost. I only got my warpfire this summer and was darn glad to own one; if the kit is gone I can never own two of those mighty dragons

It's impossible to say, FW is going through changes almost every few months it seems and its really hard to work out what the future of anything they sell might be. I get a sense that outside of the specialist games and the HH stuff that FW's approach is floundering and uncertain. That said even the specialist games are not without their own issues - eg the Necromunda pet sculpts that were shown finished then removed for reworking and haven't reappeared since; or the fact that several paint jobs are clearly being done by people of noticeably less skill than GW's normal marketing standard.

Could all these changes not be related to Warhammer The Old World?

Tamurkhan was very much in the Old World. So were Fimir.

Perhaps we will see them again when they release Old World

I think that they decided to retire the molds because the sales were poor or the molds were damages and remade them isn't lucrative.

Old World is a very long travel, three of four years, stop making money now isn't make any sense for me.

Yep - and why not allow Monsters of Destruction as Allies in any army?  GA armies are almost phased out at this point.

I added a Basilisk to my cart 2 years ago, then removed it when I realised they were no longer Allies for Bonesplitterz.  (Effectively) not being able to use FW models in Matched Play was setting them up to fail, whether deliberately or accidentally.

Sad that the Basilisk has gone, because it's a sweet model and a cool Warscroll, which was unfortunately shafted by being frozen out of army composition in GH18 onwards.

I've bought loads of FW products, but GW made it way too hard to justify this one.  A real shame.

That answer is subtly brutal. "You should have got them when did they were available and stop waiting to the last minute"

Waiting to see whether a model will be properly supported, or is complete seems fine to me. This is why I am not a Forgeworld customer.

Indeed, I don't even know if the war Scrolls were any good or they had good keywords.

At least Elspeth did not even have a warscroll, I don't know much about others, but very often they had no battletome keywords, and/or simply were not good units.

The Freeguild ones were hopeless: incomplete guard for more than Greatsword prices (this set was actually the best value in the range), incomplete handgunners that did not fit the warscroll, generals that did not look properly armoured and/or had a bad loadout (though one in the command set did have a war banner, and Lietpold had a horse), and Elspeth that did not have a warscroll.

Interesting development - they've just updated the store listings on FW to include specific subfactions on the list instead of just the four grand alliances.

I think this happened before, with order having a few factions. I can't be sure though.

EDIT: it was filtering
